What am I looking for? I don't see anything about my coil that could be a short. I am using partially unoxidized wick. My Provari just gave me an e1 error with it but I think the coil is probably too low for it to read(probably around .8ohm). Also by button has been heating up a lot when I was getting out the hot spots.

When you say your button gets hot I assume it's on a mech mod, what model is it? As far as shorts on a mech, your coil will glow hotter where it is shorting out on your wick. If you can, try to remove your wick from your coil & torch it over your stove a bit, then re-insert & check for hot spots. This has to be done on an empty tank since your juice will disguise hot spots. Another suggestion for you is to get a cheap multimeter from radio shack or harbor freight. That way you can check your resistance without using a mod. Hope this helps & good luck!

I got my multimeter for like $10 at walmart. You will be suprise how much you use it. I also use it to setup my 3 amps for my car system so its used for multiple stuff. Oh yeah I ened up using it last week on my 11 zx6r because I left the key in and was on parked setting that keeps the daytime running lights on and drained my battery because I didn't ride for a whole week. Was at 9.01!!! Eek. But its all good now.

What mech is it? My kts storm hasn't ever got hot even will chain vaping. Though others had to sand some of the connections like the button to get better conduct.

Your button heating up could be for a number of reasons, it could be bc you DO have a short somewhere and it is heating up the battery bc of it or it could be that your battery can't and shouldnt be used with low ohms. More than likely you have a short somewhere, when I make a new coil I use a barely oxidize wick also and the button can heat up sometimes when pulsing it, that is why it is important to pulse not fire when breaking in a coil for the first time.
