So I just got my starter kit today with some clear plastic smok Tech 510 2.0 ohm cartomizers but I'm not sure where to start. To fill them, I'm assuming you stick the syringe in the small hole of the mouthpiece side. Do I inject the needle directly into the filling or do I inject over the filling on the sides of the cart? And how do I know when it's filled?

Also, how often should I be cleaning these cartomizers and how long can I use them for? Can I just run some hot water through it or is that going to fry the atomizer parts?

Easiest way to fill them: Take the "condom" (silicone cover) off the bottom (battery) end. Then take a paperclip and bend out one arm. Stick it through the hole and pry the rubber tip off. Then tilt your cart at an angle and drip liquid down the sides like you're pouring a beer, rotating the cartomizer as you go to get even distribution. If the liquid pools up in the top wait for it to soak in before dripping more in. Keep checking the battery end to see if any liquid is starting to pool in the cover. If it is, it's full. Otherwise, keep filling. You can pour any leaked juice back into the bottle when you're done.

Blow down the open end of the cart into a paper towel to blow out any excess juice from the tube down the center, wipe off the battery end, replace the white cap, then attach and vape.

The cartomizers that I got actually don't have the condom covers on either end. It just came naked in a plastic wrapping. I'll post a pic in a second.

You can inject using a syringe or just dripping juice from the top of the carto. The good thing about the clear cartos is that you can see any dry spots you have.

To clean.

1. Put the carto on the battery
2. Wiggle it back and forth until you can take the clear plastic tube off.
3. Gently unwind the outer batting and run it under hot water until it's clear.
4. Dunk the coils with the 2 small pieces of batting into a cup of hot water and sort of shake them around
5. Pat the batting and coils dry with a paper towel.
6. when dry, wind the batting back around the coils.
7. place the plastic sleeve back on.
8. fill & vape!

This is how I do it, there may be better ways.

If you have a syringe, use it to fill the carto. Push the needle down the side of the filler against the metal until it hits bottom, then slowly inject juice as you pull the needle out. Repeat this on the opposite side and continue until the carto is full. Don't just jab the needle in the filling because there is wires and a wick in there and you may damage it.

Edit: Oh I didn't notice you had a clear carto, well the above should work I think...

That's how I do it.

I either syringe from the top, all the way down the side (gently), pull up just a bit, and slowly inject while pulling up slowly, and then top off until it's quite spongy, or I condom method it, and then drip down the sides (beer pour style), while rotating, and giving it time to soak, or I syringe slowly from the bottom hole to replicate the condom method, and then syringe/beer from the top, after.

The key is, take your time. If you're getting a mess, you're going too fast, and if you see it coming out the middle tube, it's again too fast.

You made sure to take the stopper off the top, correct?

When I top it off at the end, I use an empty "condom" on the bottom, as well, to keep the mess down, and then gently blow it out after.

Yeah, I know, a lot of jokes can be made here :p

Isn't using a syringe a little less messy?

Once you get the method down, it's never really messy to fill a carto, but we all make mistakes, especially if we're in a hurry or not used to a new carto.

Syringe is the least messy, except cleaning the syringe after, which isn't all that difficult.

I think I get the general gist of it. Thanks for the quick replies!

A couple more questions - I read that it's good to let the e-liquid settle in the cart before puffing away. Should I lay the cartomizer down and roll it around for a few minutes or should I attach it to the battery first and then roll it around?

Also, do I have to worry about inhaling any primer with these cartomizers? Should I not inhale the first few puffs?

I love using the syringe. My husband tells people about my "Breaking Bad" vaping lab.
