No. We are still at: during a corporate meeting, if you don't care about your company, feel free to not go. That way people who do care are not interrupted by your rude behavior.

Have been in meetings that have banned tape recorders (blasting music), gum (blowing bubbles), and straws(spit balls).

Rude behavior is rude no matter what it is. In this case, the rude person got vaping banned in his company. Executives want to be paid action to just like you and I. The big difference is that you and I cannot set policy.

Touchy subject for sure. There is a division even within our own ranks about how, when, and where APVs should be used so it shouldn't be a shock to anyone that the general public does not approve.

Personally I think the rule of thumb should be: just because you "can", doesn't always mean you "should".

So where are we going?

"Vaping is not to be done in polite society."

Yes, Big Brother ..

How about "Do unto others...." Personally, there are places and times where I would not like to be surrounded in vapor myself. I DO consider it impolite to blow clouds in areas where I believe others would not like to be surrounded in clouds. Enclosed spaces with many other people are one of those times. It may not be dangerous. It may not have a scent to it. It may not contain anything that anyone is allergic to. It doesn't have to be in order to be considered rude.

Also, this is a private business. Not sure what this has to do about the government? I thought we were all in agreement that private businesses, at the very least, should be able to determine what is and is not allowed on their property?

See personally, I think that's just rude. Do I vape where smoking is prohibited? Yup. Mostly because my school does not allow smoking anywhere on campus (though vaping is accepted by campus PD, ther are many of us vapers at the school). But I don't cloudchase either. I'll vape in class but try to blow it down into my shirt or hold it so there's not a cloud. IF there is an accidenntal cloud I wave it away quickly so as to not disturb people. Just common sense really.

Some people just don't have intelligence when it comes to these things. You need to realize that while it may not bother you, it may bother others. It may be stigma, but still, for the time being, we need to realize that if we continue to step on toes, we're going to end up in the same place as the smokers we're trying to distance ourselves from.

I work for a large specialty chemical company. I have my own office, and I vape in my office, but not blatantly. A few people know I do it, and they don't care. I don't do it in front of anyone on purpose, but I've had people pop in inadvertently and see it. I know of others that also vape and I up until now I haven't seen any blatant abuse of common sense.

Yesterday, I received an email to all employees that stated that all ecig and similar device use was restricted to smoking areas. I was ...... and suspected a story behind it.

Today I got the story.

Our site manager has been holding town hall meetings. These are relatively formal events for us production folks. Basically a huge screen presentation and a podium kind of thing, with the King of the Universe at the podium. Some jackass among the ranks decided that during the King's Speech, he would huff on his device and blow smoke rings into the air while the King spoke.
Vaping where I work is okay with hr so far.

A number of people vape where I work but they're low profile except for one 20 something kid from the plant floor. He's the same type I've seen for years. Wants to be the center of attention at all times and has an inflated view of himself in all respects.

Although he claims to vape 0 nic (meaning he can resist temptation) he feels compelled to blow as a big a cloud as possible from his box mod during any kind of meeting so that all are duly impressed. Too many of the uneducated are swallowing the anti-vape propaganda hook line and sinker. Like it or not that's reality. Yet this idiot carries on in his never ending effort to always be the center of attention. I'm just waiting for the hammer to fall and the rest of us will have this twit to thank.

Oh wow... sorry to hear that, he sounds out of the same mold as my jackass, it's just a matter of time...

I have been blessed.. my company is pro-active with self improvement.. but I am a department head and the board remembers the days I have went cold turkey .. I was a ruthless overseer.. My temper flared from 0 to 60 in light speed... They take vaping as a positive change in workplace since everyone switched to vaping because of my influence and allowed it in the building in the individual offices, but not the common corridors or the testing floors... Unfortunately I do step past my office and down the corridor and to the bathrooms and into the archive room vaping, but no one dares to say anything.... I do hold the board in respect and not vape there, not unless they pull out a cigar to smoke.. Sadly one can not teach old dogs new things, after trying to show them how a vaporizer works...
