Hi all, I'm a newbie to the world of vaping. I just got a Smokeless Image Volt with some of their prefilled cartos, I've also got blanks and juice from FSUSA to try as well. I just wondered how/if I will know when the cartos are getting low. I see that you shouldn't let them get totally dry, but when is that close? Since I didn't get the liquid from SI, should I top off with FSUSA flavors or keep them separate? Thanks!

Hi SBelle82 and welcome to ECF! I top off when flavor diminishes, and vapor is usually less right at the same time. As for mixing different liquids in a carto, it depends on what the flavors are and how adventurous you are! I use the same carto for both my tobacco flavor and fruit flavors and lived (so far) to tell about it. Other flavors like cinnamon I use a dedicated carto for.

Hi, and welcome to ECF and welcome to the world of vaping! When the vapor starts dropping off a little, you should top off your cartos. If you wait until they taste burnt, it will be too late because you'll never be able to get the burnt taste out. Yes you can add FSUSA liquid to the prefilled cartos, but it will definitely change the flavor because the two liquids (the pre-filled stuff and the new stuff) will definitely blend. I'd suggest that you use a "similar" juice. For instance, if the carto is pre-filled with a tobacco flavor, you can add another tobacco flavor, or maybe a coffee flavor. If the pre-filled carto is filled with a fruity flavor, you could add a different fruit flavor. Otherwise, you would need to clean them out first. In my opinion, cleaning cartomizers is a pain! I don't mind blending a couple of flavors, so I just add a similar juice on top. Others may have different suggestions.

I think you'll be able to "feel" when the cartos are getting low. You can pop the top off and look at the filler. If it's totally dry, I'd just add several drops (12-15) until it looks moist again. Good luck.

With KR808D-1 or 510 w/ cartos

Whenever the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or a bit tasting off or the carto is vaping too warm, I take it off the battery and add some juice. Typically at that point the carto is around 1/3 empty so it may need 6-7 drops and occasionally more - it may be as much as 1/2 empty and need 10+ drops. As a carto gets more used, it may need juice added more often to vape well. I can usually get a 1-2 weeks use out of a carto if I use thin clear juices (no more than 20% VG clear light colored juices that leave little or no flavoring residue).

I'm pretty new myself, but I do have the Volt and a few juices from FSUSA (loving their Hypnotic Mist, by the way). You'll know your cartos are getting dry when you start getting a burnt taste-time to top them off. I would use your FSUSA juices in your blanks. I would save the prefilled ones from Smokeless Image that you like, since they say that they'll soon be adding more juices to match all their prefilled ones. I have read somewhere on hear that's there's a way to clean their cartos, but I've never done it and don't remember where I saw it. Maybe someone else will pipe in.

I don't wait until I get a burnt taste. I can now usually sense before that point that I should add juice. I often use a plastic or delrin drip tip as an easy-to-remove mouthpiece so it is easy for me to add juice. No tools needed to pull it out, and keeps my lips cool with a hot carto.

I think as you settle on juices you like and get used to the way they taste and vape, it will become more obvious to you when to add juice.
