Well it is going to send some shock waves through the mod makers companies ( I will NOT bother anybody who makes them for them-self , in fact I cant so ! )
We went into this market with fully open eyes and this is what I do for a living ( design , patent and manufacture products ) If you look at Nanometer Tech . Autospacover and Notcigs this is what we do. We saw that nobody had bothered to apply in this area and went for it.
SOme may have issues with patents and think they are bad or stop development and that is their right do think that , I do not how ever .

Seriously though . . . I like what I see here much better than what I've seen elsewhere. Glad to see things moving. With this officially being regulated as tobacco products, it's time to start buttoning things up. Glad to see a great guy getting things lined up.

How long is the process from application to granting? Are you protected in the interim?

Looks like you get the mother load. Do you get paid from any manufacturer using VV? Does your patent hold up outside of the US? Will you have to create a litigation team?
All in all your patent should be very rewarding, a milestone as grand as the Notcigs products themselves.

It takes yrs. to get a patent PI but yes you are protected. That's why when you look at products with patents they aways say "patent pending".
Way to go Mike, so does this mean that my BUZZ is no longer "patent pending" but now patented???
Also please don't tell me that when I make another VV home-made that I'm not gonna owe you money...

I think you are right to do this as everyone has copied you and your ideas. The Chinese will not respect any of it but they have still not come up with a VV and have had awhile to do so. They are going for the perfect Carto and I hope they find it soon.

As 5c said, it can take years. It all depends on the "Office Actions" you receive from the PTO. These days virtually every application is initially denied or has a good number of claims rejected. It is typically a back and forth with the PTO, they file an Office Action and you file a Response to the Office Action. The PTO is also understaffed so nothing gets done quickly.
Also, as 5c said, you are protected from the filing of the application, if ultimately granted and at least so far as the claims that are finally allowed.
Mike, I am still fairly new here - I had not realized that it has been less than a year since you introduced Variable Voltage to the vaping world. Did you write the PTO application yourself?
We already have the perfect PV (at least I believe as such) couple that with the perfect carto (will it ever exist) for a perfect vape
