I have never even heard about her before this, so I don't know what to think. But she did allow all my comments on her blog so that is good. Is there any record of her publicly changing her view?

The thing is we don't have much time and we probably can't afford to be meek. The FDA machine is moving already -- as soon as it builds enough momentum it will be unstoppable.

I've never heard of her before this either but the people at the Huffington post are not automatically idiots. They may be a bit set in their ways having fixed opinions about things such as smoking, but with more information, they're capable of listening.

If anyone has been reading her responses to our comments she is being more conciliatory and it's clear that she acknowledges what we post and takes it as new information.

A lot of us are coming across as firebrands shooting insults and jeering directly at her. That's not going to help us in ANY way, it'll just preclude our defeat because it'll suggest that we're just angry addicts.

It's more difficult to change say, the opinion of Fox News. TV is perceived as "official" for better or for worse and are top down with no discourse between reporter and audience. Blogs (as much as I hate them), put audience and reporter on a more level playing field allowing a discourse.

I'll say it again that I think we should try our best to nudge. We've already lost so many battles with the press in which we have no chance of rebuttal.\

*EDIT*
And for those of us who would take a jab at her being a crazy liberal, remember where we're posting these comments. If the audience reads us as angry conservatives, they have even less reason to care what we say.

i don't see huffpo as being liberal or progressive. the author of that post wrote her tripe for a variety of reasons. some being to capture audiences for the sake of money, popularity, both, pick one. it gives her exposure; a little name trying to get exposure in a sea of little names trying to gain exposure with the bigger names trying to keep their exposure. and in one fashion or another we buy into it. maybe not her, but someone else who furthers the cause that we either agree with or are into.

it's farkin' ironic that we are suspicious of the government until it suits for our own self-serving agendas. or that we continue to elect the scuzzballs into office that we do. it's beyond correct to fight for our individual liberties, not because we're either liberal or conservative, but because we're all cut from the same constitution. i don't know of any politician or regulator who doesn't bend over some agenda. you want to vote someone into office because he or she walks the talk just like you or me? well, screw that.

i want people in office who actually know that what we have here is a cesspool and that some real prioritizing needs to take place. ecigs? shiiiiioooot. how far down did they have to go to find something as innocuous as that to go after? all this accomplishes is pitting people against one another. can't go after financial institutions; can't end the killing overseas; can't stop the blood-letting of downsizing and unemployment. but i'll be damned if we can't go after the demon-spawn e-cigarette. what else do the powerless have but to eat their own?

phew :) i feel better.

Does anyione know who the dumb blonde is in the fox video?
I want to email her or email fox about her stupidity.
If I'm not mistaken that was from a Minnesota station (?) I will go back and look, but I didn't have time to fill out registration forms again and then figure out what to write. I just googled Fox e-cigs and it came up, that was one of many. Not very helpful I know.... Dumb is a good word description, and to think they're advising people not to fall for e-cigs is just maddening. Boy we sure have a lot more work to do. Dumb is hard to get rid of isn't it!

I couldn't get any info from that video, so perhaps the person who originally posted it could provide a link.

There's another thread just about that video here. Her info is posted up there.

You are probably right about this. But I am so angry. She is issuing a call to action in that blog for people to go out of their way to write to FDA. I feel that I am under attack and she is calling in even more army and there is absolutely nobody who will defend my rights.

I just posted another comment on her blog, which I know I shouldn't, because I am pushing too far now:

----------
Keren, in the comments section you used the word "palinized" which brought me to another blog you wrote, a call to action for women:

Karen Stabiner: Don't Skirt the Issue, Women: Which Side Are You On?

Few words jumped out: "... politician who wants to take away your right to choose." I have always supported women's reproductive rights. Not because I am pro-abortion, but because I think a woman will make better decision than government ever could.

But don't you think it is hypocritical for you to insist that you can choose for yourself when it affects you, but the government should decide for me if I will be allowed to use electronic cigarette? For me, the e-cigarette was the tool that aborted my use of tobacco and thousands of chemicals that were making me ill. But here you call on people to write to FDA to take my right to choose away from me. How can you remain on the wrong side of this?

Sar i don't think you went to far with that post at all! It helps put things into perspective for her and you did not attack her personally, nor was it particularly offensive.

She does issue a call to action, but what can ya do? People would be doing that anyway with other news releases.

I have no illusions that we're going to be high-fiving over beers with her but our nudging will cause her to question more. Perhaps down the line that can be to our benefit.

@Scaralouche and Randallflagg:
To each their own. Huff Post probably isn't your publication of choice, but let's not try to insult her simply for being a liberal? (not saying that you did).

I don't like liberals or conservatives. I do like e-smokers though.

Thanks for that Porphy, I'll have to check it out!
Want to put in my $.02
Also, people, this is GREAT news (NZ), these tests and subsequent allowing e-cigs there is going to boost OUR voices a lot! NZ is a close ally, these tests are comprehensive, so don't be shocked if our FDA will be swayed just a bit by the posititive happenings!! I'm so glad for those people. And cannot wait until the 2nd phase of the tests are released, it will be huge news. This is totally ammunition in our correspondences, use it profusely!! Memorize the stats and push hard, the whole world cannot be wrong about PV's.
The thing that strikes me is how PV's do affect us, and the Ruyan testing confirms lowered nicotine absorbtion to the point it cannot be ignored, .03ppb nitro, DEG and all! Very effective cigarette replacement therapy if you ask me...course, I did notice nobody did..

As a dyed-in-the-wool uber liberal-progressive, may I politely ask that we refrain from casting aspersions on political views? It's a zero-sum game. I was a 3ppd smoker for 25+yrs, and thanks to this forum, I've been smoke-free for nearly a week. The last time I went w/out a cigarette for over 24 hrs was 1986. I would be disappointed to think that I wasn't welcome in the community, because I vote Democratic most of the time. Oh, and by-the-way, HELLO!!!

I was going to post something longer in response, but I restrained myself with great effort.

Welcome to forum.

As of now, all of the responses listed here were posted in the comments section. (yes, I read ALL of the comments.)

Maybe this will help sway public opinion when facts are shown rather than just hysteria. As far as marketing to children with the e-cigs, my teenage daughter's statement sums it up, "Uh Mom, they're really kinda dorky looking."

Holder, welcome to the forum. No worries about political views, we are vapers first. People are more stressed now because of FDA so you may hear lots of barking but nobody bites. :)

I for one can't tell democrats and republicans apart anymore so the only party I'd be willing to support these days is the one that would welcome a black lesbian atheist pro-choice single mother with passion for guns. :D

Hi and welcome all "noobs", except we're all noobs here, PV users et.al., speaking. And we're all people first, Dems and Reps all have same voice.
Progressive Liberals are even tolerated! (I suspect there's some of those around here??) No offense meant to anyone. We're all in the same boat here, so never mind the rhetoric too much! What we want is the freedom to pursue what we know is right for ourselves, no G-men/women required, thanks! Huffington Post not to be ignored, or believed! Keep your friends close, your enemies even closer.
