Has anyone else noticed this? For almost a week now, I've been ravenous. Granted that for nearly 2 weeks I could hardly eat anything, but now I'm always hungry(Also been vaping a little more with a higher nicotine content than when I started). I read somewhere that nicotine increases your metabolism, could this be the cause? It's weird, cause I don't eat much(two meals usually satisfy me for the day), but now, I eat and then an hour or so later, I feel hungry again.

Interesting thread. Lately I've been wondering and would love to see some "other" types of research/studies involving e cigs. For example, how it affects the metabolism. I'm wondering if it overall increases your metabolism because although we aren't taking in calories, our body 'tastes' and perhaps perceives calories coming in. I know about nicotine and how it affects the metabolism, anti-depression and anti-Alzheimer studies but really curious about the effect of inhaling e-juice without the nicotine. I'm not worried about the safety studies of e cigs, I think we all agree that quitting smoking and vaping instead has made us all feel better. ^^

When I first switched to vaping, I felt like I was starving about 2 weeks in. That lasted for about a month for me. I wondered if the reason I was hungry is because "everyone" knows you gain weight when you quit smoking. I wondered if it was more of mental thing for me, a metabolism change never crossed my mind.

I too noticed an increase in my appetite when I started vaping. I was just plain HUNGRY all the time.
Im no MD (just play one on TV), but I think it is because vaping, in general, does deliver less nicotine to the body!
Now before there is a huge uprising, (I know strength of e-juice, device, and atomizer will all influence nicotine delivery), but I am just speaking " in general terms here".
Nicotine is a stimulant, hence an appetite suppressant. Generally people who are fortunate enough to quit smoking do gain weight.
A few personal theories on that is the decreased level of nicotine in the system, boosting appetite, an initial decrease in metabolism after quitting, and possiblly over eating (frequent snacking) to fufil that oral fixation no longer being met by the hand to mouth routine of smoking!!!
Just my :2c: Take it for what its worth.......free opinion:laugh:
Your body will get used to the new routine and your appetite and weight will stabilize.
Congrats on making the transition, keep it up!
