So I'm getting desperate. My tugboat v2 is sitting on top of my tugboat mod and the battery is just about dead. The hybrid cap is STUCK to the mod. I mean seriously stuck. My boyfriend and I have been trying to unscrew it for hours. I can easily unscrew the atty from the top cap, but I was told not to ever remove or attach the atty directly to the battery as it will cause a short. So at this point I have no idea what to do. It gets stuck often, but usually a bit of frustration combined with one of those rubber jar openers does the trick. But not this time. If I take the atomizer off the hybrid cap with a battery inside, will it short my battery or just the coils? I dont care about the coils as I just wound new ones but I don't want to ruin my $13 battery. Sorry if this is all rambling but I quit smoking just shy of three months ago and am starting to totally lose it without access to nicotine. Thanks for any advice

I am able to remove the rda, but was told with my setup that I should only screw the atty on/off the battery if it is attached to the hybrid cap as this will ground it and prevent a short. But I am not sure if they meant it would short the coils or the battery. So while I can loosen the rda I am afraid to unscrew it further and remove as I'm not sure what will happen.

Your fine. Remove the RDA, then grab some needle-nose and grab at the edges of the cap. Make sure to use a cloth so you don't scuff your mod and don't touch the battery.

Edit: The hybrid cap on my 4Nine used to get severely stuck all the time and this is how I would get it off.

Edit 2: The Tugboat has a magnetic switch so as long as you don't have the switch depressed, the battery will not be making contact.
