Just a heads up if no one has run into this idea but i am having such success with this i just wanted to share. my main atty's are cobras and after running into an article around here about a month ago i decided to experiment with the idea.
multi mesh size wicks.
so far i have settled on a loosely rolled solid wick made with 400 and 500 mesh and it wicks like crazy, i never get dry hits or have to tilt to wet them. i run a 70/30 juice and i love this. even better then my regular wicks worked.
I dont oxidize but thats another story - I am thinking the irregular mesh sizes within the roll allow the capillary action to move the fluid molecules between and up the wire more easily. could be wrong but had to share my results if anyone wants to try. let me know if im crazy lol.

Call me crazy too, but I am having similar results with a multi-mesh wick.

I have a cobra with 80mm solid 50/50 mesh mix with 500 on the outside and 200 inside. Rolled tight, but not stiff. I use 95% Vg and did not oxidize the mesh either. (thats another thread ;) )

Here is what I think is happening. While smaller pores will give you a faster and higher capillary rise and a quicker capillary refresh rate. Larger pores can give you a faster liquid transfer rate. If you vape vertical, you may not see a difference with mixed mesh (unless you have a lot of wick above your coil). But if you have a more natural motion with bringing your PV up to a <Horizontal position, you can take advantage of a faster flow rate though the larger pores.

So when the PV is standing, the wick stays wet with the 500. When I vape (at a 40-90 degree angle), and I have higher juice demands, the liquid flow can rely less on the capillary action difference and I get the benefit of the 2x juice reserve in the extra open space in the 200. It not a lot of volume, (someone in the #500 Mesh thread calculated this), but I believe the balance of the two makes a difference.

I have not repeated this yet, so it may be just how I rolled the wick or something else. But its good to hear that some else is seeing a similar result :)

I haven't tried a multi-mesh wick, but the other night I made a hybrid wick with silica (1.5mm) on the inside and 500 mesh on the outside. I'm definitely getting better wicking with my 70/30 (VG/PG) juice than I was with any of my solid wicks (325, 400, and 500). I'll try the multi-mesh wick on my other RBAs to see if I get the same results.

glad to hear it. i had thought of sticking a piece of silica inside a mesh wick to see what happens.

i also like the multimesh idea. i actually did it by "accident" on a build. i rolled a hollow #500 wick it it was too hollow. juice just pouring out of the top of it when i vaped. instead of re-doing the whole wick, i just rolled up a piece of mystery mesh that came with the RBA really tight and inserted it into the hollow wick. it stopped the leak and performance was ok, but wasnt anyhting to write home about. i bet if i do a proper multimesh wick it will be better.

Wicks like crazy...i had a ..... of a time getting a a good coil on my zap..just for giggles i jammed one of those preoxidixed wiicks 325 into my 400 mesh. And wow..i dont need to tilt. No more hotspots near top post due to excellent wicking.. my first real good coil...after weeks of trying. Not a day to soon....pluid came in and im in luv with the juice and now my provari mini zap combo kicking some ...
