PG is what is known as a "humectant" - it draws water vapor from the air, so when you have a mouthful of vapor, it dries your mouth out.

It's a good thing to drink plenty of water, anyway, it's great for your overall health. 6 small bottles a day should do it. And no, coffee and soda don't count. :)

The technical answer from Wiki:

Humectant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have also seen way too much on the dehydration thing and no real evidence that states the need to drink as much fluid as suggested.
Mild dehydration is considered when you loose 5% or less of your body weight
Moderate is 5 - 10%
Severe is 10 - 20%
I weigh approx. 200Lbs therefore 5%= 10 lbs water, 10% = 20lbs water, and 20% = 40 lbs water. Water weighs 8.8 lbs per gallon. Even with that in mind, I would have to drink 1.2 gallons of water more than I normally would if I was still smoking at a mild dehydration factor. I tried a simple test, I inhaled a strong hit ( full lung draw) and exhaled it into a 4" dia clear tube 60" long and let the vapor settle. I measured the depth of the vapor (11"). Next I did a full lung exhale through the hole in the RSST ( shotgun ) into the 4" tube. Remeasured vapor depth, 12", Im guessing the difference is that the shotgun vape was hotter, less dense.
Vapor density (optically) seemed the same. If there was a significant amount of water present in the vapor, something should have been quite different... there should have been more vapor, denser vapor, heavier vapor... something...

So my question is... are we actually loosing all that moisture due to vaping???

Locally? Yes. I feel it, all day, when I don't drink water or fluids, my mouth gets all gummy.

It's also not just dehydration, the body needs water to function correctly. If you want to downplay it and not hydrate, it's your choice, but I've learned over the years the body as a whole works a lot better if you water it regularly.

Thanks people, good info. If there is one thing we do in Phoenix, it's drink a lot of water.

You need to! Phoenix is probably the dries place in the US. I visit AZ for family and every time I do I have to remember the water thing. I have spent most of my life in humid parts of the country and my body is not used to the arid environment. I have to remind myself of this constantly when there. I have been vaping for a little less than two months and have notice no real difference since starting. Maybe the humid locale has something to do with it? I don't know. I try to drink more water as ther are health benefits from it but as for the dehydration thing, I am on the fence. I have seen color graphs on restroom doors and walls to compare urine colors to dehydration and on a normal intake of fluids as I normally would, I have notice no coloring difference or dry mucus areas. This should be an indicator and I just don't see it. My :2c:

I guess I dont need to drink as much as those who do PG since I prefer 100%VG juices..
