OK - I started out on a DSE901 - was told that screwdriver was much better - couldn't afford the screwdriver at the time so bought the DSE905. Was told DSE905 was Chinese crap that couldn't vape properly (despite fact that the Chinese made my 901 and the whole concept of vapor cigs to begin with) so bought the original screwdriver (now drastically discounted) - both vaped about as good as my original 901 but had better battery life. Though one guy here said something like "no matter what battery /atty I used my 905 was dismal" or something to that effect. Fact is screwdriver/905/901 all vape the same to me. So now I'm told "The 510 has much better throat hit and more vapour" so I ordered the 510 adaptor kit from Trog.

So what do you think? Can the 510 make a difference or is it just more of the "subtle differences" that people make a huge deal out of that frankly I can't recognise.

I think that some people are just more 'sensitive' to subtle differences while others can't discern any difference. IMHO, the 510 and subsequently, the Ego is one of the best on the market. The juices DOES taste SLIGHTLY different on the Ego as opposed to the 510, probably because of the cone. The vapor is SLIGHTLY warmer, but if I hadn't been told that it was, I doubt I'd have picked up on it myself.

Keep in mind that you're just starting, your taste buds will improve and, with more time, you'll be able to pick up on the more subtle changes.

Hope it helped and welcome to ECF! :)

The 905 has some voltage-reduction circuitry built in so that it vapes at about 3.2V (like the 901). The screwdriver does not have this, so it vapes at the full battery voltage of 3.7V. I know I can tell the difference between 3.2V and 3.7V devices, and that's the main reason that I got rid of my 905. That, and the fact that they purposely made it incompatible with KR808 cartomizers, even though the threads are compatible.

Atom, I prefer the 510 to the 901. IMHO the 510 gives better vapor and throat hit and the atomizers seem to last forever at 3.7v (on mods).

The 901 is said to give a better flavor, but I didn't notice any difference in flavor when compared with the 510. I only use my 901 when I want to have something going that is fun in public so in this case, a small PINK e-cig (I bought all my 901s in Pink with Pink LED).

I've been eyeing Trog's deal on the Screwdriver again just the other day. I had a 905 for a while. It was ok, and I did like the options/improvements made by China on their design. I don't use my 901 gear often, so I sold it to someone who does. I'd like to order one of his 510 fitted Screwdrivers some day. I stupidly missed out on his BOGO deal on them. Oh well...

Let us know how the 510 is working out for you when you get it!

I expanded on the chart a bit to include a wider range of batteries and attys. Here's the expanded chart:

Ok - still waiting for the 510s, but have to say the screwdriver with 901 atty is the best I've used so far. most of this has to do with the ergonomics - I really love using the big button on the end and don't miss all the electronic razzle dazzle of the 905. I think the design of the screwdriver is brilliant over all.

had a relapse and wondered why - most e-cigs it seem draw easier than real cigarettes and make more "cloudy stuff" when it comes down to it (I make a roll up when I smoke tobacco, which produces an inconsistent draw). Still looking for that big extra hit for when I wake up in the morning or get off work

Just use whichever that satisfies you the most. It's a never ending rat race to search for the e-cig which you think will be better, but ultimately disappoints.

We all are looking for a vape that is JUST LIKE our past addiction, Tobacco. I've found in my almost year and a half of vaping, it's not gonna happen. The only way to get the tobacco hit would be adding the thousand of poisons in cigarettes, one at a time to the juice, until you reach what you're looking for. Sad, but reality. That said, I've found the 510 can supply the throat hit and vapor to satisfy my craving, enough, but not all the way. I ordered the Tornado in my ultimate search. I'm sure it is gonna be good but not a cigarette. Gotta live with that as it is probably as good AS IT GETS FOR NOW. Will keep searching in the meantime

Maybe, but I have another theory.

Like anything in this world where you can get new and improved products, you want to. And with electronic cigarettes, so many things MIGHT be an improvement, however small, but you won't know for sure until you try them. And since it doesn't cost as much as getting a new television, or computer, or video game, or whatever, cost is not as much of a deterrent. And cost becomes even less of a deterrent when you can justify that cost by how much you are NOT spending on cigarettes.

So I think it is just natural to be buying stuff when you can.
