Over "the big water"... on the eastern shore.:)

Thanks for the pic and explanation too.

No problem...bad part about it is thats the only interesting rock I have ever found around here and I forgot where I found it..I know I broke rule #1..document!! Had to be down along the Potomac but we have been up and down 100 miles of it! Then again around here is mostly Fed or state park land so no digging allowed!

Mi528....do you find any nice geodes out there?

Wow sounds interesting... if you get a chance snap a pic. Some rutilated material looks pretty cool and sells well ... when oriented in the center a single needle can reflect to look like spokes on a wheel when faceted.

I have some pics of the blue/green tourmilated stuff, that I cut into a square emerald cut. It turned out awesome! I will try and get a pic up tonite when we get back from the mine.
@Nicotime I have not found geodes here yet but, they are here. Mostly I am addicted to digging quartz. Not sure why, if I had been digging for gold the last three years, I bet I would be a lot better off, right now! We did find a garnet dig we have been to the last two weekend! Red, yellow and, orange! bout' the size of pingpong balls!

Well I could not find the pic I have of the tourmilated gem but, I found this pic of an enhydro I got on my mine. The air bubble moves about a millimeter each way in the liquid! Plus the table is a natural facet, it was so polished naturally I left it.

I will take another pic of the tourmilated stuff soon.
@Nicotime Your neck looks a lot shorter in your new avatar?

Oh man that is beautiful! I bought an enhydro many years ago from Brazil. It is a big egg looking thing. It is super cool. I have no idea where it is at the moment. If I find it I will post a picture. Geez, I swear yall are so lucky to be able to mine these beauties.

I would like to see pics of that. Is it a faceted egg shape or, just naturally egg shaped? I feel truly blessed every time I am at a dig spot! It is quite the feeling pulling them out and knowing you are the first to see it! It seem like the scenery is always great at the spots also.
Here is the tourmilated emerald cut I was talking about.

It is a natural egg shape with clear, white, tan, brown striations. I looked and looked for it. It must be in a box somewhere. I may never see it again.:D

Hey Nicotime, It is an inland lapidary swap top. I ordered a calibrated jam peg off of ebay and pieced it together to cut gems. The swap top with all the laps and blade for the saw top was pretty inexpensive. For used equipment I am not to sure, there is a rock shop here by Reno that sells used stuff. I think a swap top is the way to go though.
