I am wanting to try something

Okay so Modding is something that looks like a ton of fun. I know the basics of electrical stuff and have a natural ability to read and almost always understand schematics and how things work. I cannot however explain how any of it works (an area where i seriously fall short in getting things from my brain to my mouth).
I already create interesting works of "art" and random useful items out of the stuff just lying around the house and have been looking for something new. So here it is.
What I am wanting to do after the last few weeks of searching, studying and reading, is create a PV made up entirely of the random crap found in old household items. I have all kinds of tubes boxes and piping as well as a lot of just random materials that i am pretty sure can be turned into a PV. I am lacking one thing being a 510 battery connector, which I can get in the next week or two unless someone has a dead 510 batt they wouldn't mind sending.

Here are a few questions i have though before i even attempt this

1) has someone else alreay done this and where can I see how they did it? I want to see how their process went as well as their success in taking it on.
2) can you buy Nichrome wire (or will copper work) and silicone thread for atty's in a home depot like store?
3) can i use just about any type of circuit board or does it have to be a brand spanking new one?

That is about all i have for now. I am hoping to start this in the next couple weeks as long as no major snags hit me

I'll jump in just to say that regular copper wire is what you want for wiring the battery and switch and/or a booster chip or switching regulator. If your wanting to build your own atty Copper wire WON'T work..
Nichrome or Kanthal is what you want for making atty coils.

You can get the Nichrome and connectors from MadVapes. (and just about anything else you need for a mod).

As for modding things from around the junk drawer,,,, I don't think that there is a single thing in or around a home that can't be modded. (although, I haven't seen "The Toilet Mod" yet) but give it time and someone will do it.

Awesome thanks. I have seen and repeatedly added to and taken off the stuff to build my own on Madvapes. Absolutely love that store. I guess I was hoping to be able to run to the local hardware store ad get what I need when the bug hits me to do it.
Although I should wait a bit before I really start to play with the whole making my own. I need to take a few pieces apart to see how they go together (watching videos and reading about it is one thing but i learn better from messing with it on my own as well.) So far all I have to play with are a couple atomizers that I have been using and killed out of frustration @ that horrid burnt taste that made my tongue numb (That's what I get for this only being week3). I am going to try cartomizers after dealing with those, just ordered a pack of the clear ones from MadVapes. Hoping those work better while i learn more about all this stuff. Until then I think i may just stick to interesting ideas on drip tips and making the e-cig look more like different goofy objects.

1) Modders use all sorts of stuff. Just browse this section of the board.
2) MadVapes ... Nichrome for atomizers. See this board's atomizer mods section for how-to
3) ? new. You don't want to re-work old circuit boards, believe me. Some mods don't require a PCB.

I suggest that you try
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/18409-how-build-nicostick.html
or
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/95728-tutorial-juicebox-around-8-a.html
as a 1st project, then move into other stuff. This lets you get the mechanics worked out 1st... soldering iron, solder, flux, cutting plastic, basic circuit, etc.

Good Luck!

TY again hon. I am thinking the juice box is going to be my best route as it sits now was up until 3 AM this morning, reading posts on trying to figure out how to get the nasty burnt taste out of my atties. So far no luck. I also made a drip tip for my smoke tech mega 510 to see if it is a cartridge issue (maybe the fluval is bad {replaced it} with still no luck). I had already made a drip tip for my xhale02 and been using that but still. That is part of what is sparking all this "maybe if i tried something new and made my own" stuff. The tank mods appear to be my best bet and I know I have most everything for it lying around here. $8.00 is a much more reasonable cost.

Oh WOW those are absolutely amazing! totally a maybe someday project =) For now though I need to stick to the simple juice box and finding ways to design to be more on the artsyfartsy sexy looking (like a fun paintjob on a round battery case style
I also need to work on calming down and chillaxing so I can enjoy being smoke free with what I do have. I ordered a couple cartos a day or two ago and that should (hopefully) do the trick until my favorite time of the year comes and I have some extra money to be able to place my big order from Madvapes. To include a kit or two of models and lots of parts for me to play with. Being patient and playing with my wishlist will hold me over until then.
I guess i should also apologise for falling under the complete stereotypical Noob. The overly excited, obsessed with the new "toy" and pretty much jumping the gun without thinking reasonably. (it also doesn't help running on minimal sleep, and wanting to avoid doing housework....again).
You are all too awesome for being so patient.

Well I don't want to come in and hijack your thread with my stuff. But you wanted to build something and also said you were having problems with burnt atty taste. So here is how to fix both things at the same time. The tank is supper easy if you go with simple stuff. Some 5/8" ID clear tube, and 2 rubber bottle stoppers that fit inside the tube. Cut a hole in the center of the stoppers that a C-E2 carto will fit in nice and tight. Then just grind a small slot on each side of the ce2 like this,

Then put a stopper in each end of the clear tube and push the carto all the way through till the threaded end is flush with the bottom of one of the stoppers. to refill just pop the top stopper off and fill. be warned though this is not pocket friendly, well front shirt pocket maybe.

I was born high-strung  Though, as long as I keep the BS Drama meter to a minimum. Chillaxing is becomes more possible (it also helps having major ADHD to tune out the people who cause those issues with shiny moments that confuses the hell out of them)

That carto design looks like an easy fix to the burnt atty taste issues. I really need to work on making some of those to save money. I know this is going to sound wierd but would you by chance have a drawing of how it is done for me to see. I have an easier time understanding schematics over written directions
Also, my order should be coming tomorrow or Tuesday and I figured out that by semi-flooding these atties actually keeps that horrid and painful taste away. Oh and I made an interesting drip tip out of a Cable jack and an old cartridge that looks actually pretty and works as a functional decoration.
Will post a pic at some point... still too lazy ATM (and wanting to play some FO3NV)
