I went to my local smoke shop and bought a "Pure Smoke" starter kit and two packs of refills. I spent about $100 on all of it. I got home and put it all together and IT SUCKS! I get very little vapor and it felt like I got no nicotine. I had to go by a pack of old school smokes. So now I'm on a mission to find a great priced e cig so I can order one for me and my wife. Right now my head’s swimming trying to learn all this new info about different models and the best jucie to use.....any pointers for me? Any brands that just rock for a good price? Any made in the US?

Most popular starter ecigs - research these

Joye 510 (3-piece, can be 2-piece w/ blank cartos, 180mah batteries but the mega xl batteries are 280mah)

KR808D-1 aka Vapor4Life for colors, prefilled cartos (2-piece, standard battery is 280mah, 180mah and 380mah batteries available but the 380mah don't fit in the PCC)

I recommend MANUAL batteries - more sealed against death-by-juice-leak, can't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration, and I think less work. A light to moderate vapor may get 2-3 hours out of a 180mah battery, a heavy vaper will get 1/2 that. A light to moderate vaper may get 3-4 hours out of a 280mah battery, a heavy vaper will get 1/2 that.

If you want super-long battery life and ability to use hotter harder-hitting low resistance parts, skip right to Ego and Riva 510 which have sturdier 650mah+ batteries.

Note - these two lines have the most adapters, the most blank cartomizer styles, the most fat battery models. They are the two most supported lines by normal-price multi-brand vendors and for new equipment threading. Re prefilled cartos (cartomizers of a 2-piece) - prefilled is just a small convenience. You will be adding eliquid to carts or cartomizers regardless. With adapters 510 and KR8 can use each other's stuff as well as atomizers of other models.

2-piece is battery + cartomizer
3-piece is battery + atomizer + cartridge aka cart

cartomizer is a combined disposable atomizer and cart - fill one well and keep it damp and you can get 4-7 days use out of one of more. Some are successful cleaning them for reuse, some are not. They cost about $2 apiece. A cartomizer holds more juice than a cart (typically 2x or more) and you can vape a cartomizer longer without needing to add juice.

cartridge is just stuffing and plastic - can be reused a long time until it gets loose from heat or use. You can replace the stuffing (blue foam is a popular replacement). You can wash the cart, rinse the stuffing, dry it all and keep using. The part that needs care is the atomizer - they can burn out or may get gunked up and need cleaning. Always good to have several atomizers if you are using a 3-piece. Main downside - carts need to be topped of with juice a LOT more often than a cartomizer and they are also more likely to dump their juice and give you a mouthful.

Whatever you get, I think it's good to have both cartos and atomizer+cart. (the KR8 model can use a DSE901 atty with no adapter needed or a 510 atty w/ an adapter). You can use a cart on the atty or drip using a drip tip (not recommended for auto batteries).

Yes, what dormouse said. To elaborate about the battery life:

standard 510 batts last about 2-3 hours
standard KR808d-1 batts last about 4 hours
standard eGo or Riva batts last about 8 hours

Usually, the fresher the battery charge the better the performance -- that's one of the main reasons I like to recommend the Riva LIte Bundle at liberty flights (for $30) because the batt lasts a long time so it'll be closer to a full charge for longer -- a good strong e-cig but not small sized like a tobacco cig if that's a concern for you. Good luck :)

I bought the other one from the same indian reservation smoke shop a few months ago, and it's not much better. Just good enough to show me how good these things could be. I suggest electronic cigarettes of houston. It's run out of his home in Katy. He answered lots of questions and eventually helped me choose an ego kit that has been a dream so far. I'll never have to wait in that line at the smoke shop again.

If it's any consolation b4, you are not the first. I did exactly the same thing. That kit absolutely SUCKED!!! Wasn't the same brand but, I'll bet it was close. However, it was enough to get me to believe there was something there and that led me to this forum. I promise there are better systems out there. You'll get good advice here on them.
