So today I was in my campus bookshop and found a book I thought would be interesting. Perhaps this will help me keep on the straight and narrow as I've actually slipped a bit in the last couple of days... 4 whole cigs...real ones!!! £4 for a pack of ten though, are they mad?!

Anyway, I bought myself "Smoke Signals: 100 years of tobacco advertising" to remind me of how much I hate tobacco companies! £2.99 for a bit of motivation...it's quite interesting and if I ever do get to write about PVs, it'll be an interesting starting point!

I'm going to go back tomorrow and buying this: GIANTmicrobes | Brain Cell (Neuron) with my voucher...I could buy a book...but no, I want a brain cell... I also kinda want a few others too...I've never wanted the common cold so much in my life! I think I might start collecting them...x

'One lab accident away from being a supervillain'...'Have you ever noticed how all supervillains have advanced degrees? Perhaps graduate schools should rethink their admittence policies'...

Yeah, it was me cutting down the nicotine. I think that that may have something to do with it, although a strange sense of habit was what kicked it off. I was writing at about 4am (i'm a grad student) and all I wanted was to get up from my bed, walk outside and light up. So the following day, I did. It was the walking away part I craved the most. Perhaps this is something to think about in the future...it's getting round to summertime which will make things easier but I do miss leaving my computer for five minutes for a breath of fresh air. Dodgy cartomisers aren't helping either- I had a brand new one pop on me yesterday and they're only lasting about half as long as they used to. Bogs have gone downhill quite a bit, it seems.

But I shall get back on track and I SHALL succeed! I reckon having a little cue card in my purse will help- you don't want to smoke because of tobacco advertising, you don't want to smoke because they tricked you into smoking, you don't want to smoke because you giving them money is going to promoting smoking to kids in the developing world and stunting their economic growth, you don't want to smoke or you'll end up looking like your mother and if you smoke, you wont be able to afford botox...I could go on!x

I've been of analogs for about 5 years or more. Quitting smoking is usually a process not an event I think.
I used to feel so bad when I would 'fail' and buy a pack of smokes and have one. So I complained to a friend, who didn't even smoke, about my dirty deed and she said "Well, how long are you gonna lie in the gravel? Get back up!"
That's when I realized quitting for some is 'not' an event. But for others it has been a one time thing. They made up their mind and that was it.

"It's a swirling vortex of entropy." I liked your reference to Sheldon's quote from The Big Bang Theory.

'Mom smokes in the car. Jesus is OK with it, but we can't tell dad...'

I really like the concept of it being a process rather than an event. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why so many people struggle, because they let the one negative point drag them down and the negative label becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy?

Perhaps with it being summer I'll get into vaping outside for the change of scenery...let's hope for some good weather!x

That urge to go outside was a PITA for me to get rid of. A couple of times I literally took my PV outside and puffed for 10 minutes. Came back in and was fine. I think it is the take a break from work thing more than the analogs.

I'm the opposite. I am SO HAPPY to vape inside where the AIR CONDITIONER is running, that I am motivated to not smoke, because to go outside where it is HOT and BUGGY is not appealing to me in the least!

Yep it isn't the outside part so much as it is taking a real break. As in walking away from the computer/work for a bit physically.
