I built a 1.0 ohm coil by accident-battery gurus?

Ok, so I did my first coil build on a small rda yesterday. To be quite honest I really didn't expect it to work at all and figured I'd need a few practice runs etc. It turns out that it does work, and pretty well. I was aiming for about 1.8-2.0 ohms I guess. I'm sure the solution is maybe more wraps.

I've got a safety question for you battery gurus.

Here's the battery I'm using:

Tenergy 18650 Protected Li-Ion Battery (3.7v - 2600mAh)

This is a protected 18650. I'm using it on pure smoker's Legacy (3.7 fixed voltage). The calculation is obviously 13.69 watts. Is this safe? Do I need a fuse?

For reference I made this coil out of 32 awg kanthal. The wick was just 1mm silica times 2.

All help appreciated.

I can't access that sight for the battery but you are vaping at 3.7amps. if your battery can handle that then you should be fine.

i think the current is 3-6amps but not sure, so if this is true you should be fine.

The Legacy itself has no amp limit as it has no internal electronics. Can a battery itself limit amps?

You need to see what the discharge rate is for that battery. Maybe ok. Dont know. I would use IMR 18650s if you want low ohm coils in a mechanical mod and YES, a fuse would be a cheap way not to blow yourself up. I think the continuous discharge is 1.5. cutting it close but will work.

yes some batteries can't handle 4 amps, some can. just depends on the battery. if you go over, than it can fry the battery or blow up. it would be like taking a heavy gauge wire and shorting the pos to neg. current will slam up and boom. and 1ohm is nothing in the resistance world it's basically a short.

As someone who isn't technical here. I guess I'm not understanding. It is possible that maybe two of my coil wires are touching and it's just a short?

make sure your wraps are spread out evenly. the tenergy battery you have is more for flashlight use or for higher ohm coils.
If I were you Id rewrap another coil and get it up to 5 or 6 wraps and the ohms to about 1.8-2.0 until you have a good battery that is IMR.

4 turn coil depending how large or small can be 1 ohm. I had a 4 turn coil with a little larger than I usually make and it was about 1.3 ohms so it is possible your coil is 1 ohm.

I've got some IMR batteries but they are all flat top.

I'm not an expert in batteries but according to the spec, you should be fine with 3.7amps being the spec is maximum of 6 amps.

From specs I've seen for your battery: http://www.tenergy.com/30005, the C rating for your battery is 2C. With 2C and 2600 mah the safe max will be a 5.2 amps.

Using a 1.0 ohm coil on a fully charged battery (4.2 v) - 4.2 amps
Using 1.0 ohm coil at 3.7 volts - 3.7 amps.

Your battery is fine with a 1.0 ohm coil.

The Tenergy is within the amp limit, but is a straight Li-ion. An IMR is a safer chemistry and more recommended for mods. A 18650 AW IMR has a 10C rating - heaps of capacity. They are designed to handle high drain.

My 2 ohm atomizer migrated to 1 ohm.(Probably an internal short.) Using an Ego twist, which is limited to 2.5 amps.

There is no problem. But, because of the 2.5 amp limit I get the same amount of vapor at 3.2 V as I get at 4.8 volts.
