Finsished (except for add'l cleaning and polishing) my first clear tank. I really like the look and how it turned out.

AVS
1" OD x 1/16" Polycarb Tubing
Saw
Files
Epoxy

Not as precise as one turned on a lathe, but since I don't have a lathe I'm stuck using what I got.

........a bunch of filing and a whole lot of measuring and remeasuring. I made a mistake in my calculations and had cut down the poly tube length by 4mm after it was done. Mistakes create add'l work.

Next up will be a 302 atty mod. I really like those and have always wanted to use one in an AVS

Thanks for all the kind words; I appreciate it..!

I'll try to answer a couple of the question:

I rarely create anything new; mainly see something I like and make one or find something I think I can improve on so modify it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. lol

ANYONE with a file and saw and epoxy can make one of these; it's a lot simplier than it looks. Cut the center section out of an AVS tank and replace it with a polycarb tube. Once the fit is done, a thin application of epoxy holds it all together. Epoxy cures in 24-48 hours; if the surfaces are prepared properly the bond is stronger than the polycarb. The bottom edge of the polycarb is perfectly flat so there's no gap between it and the tank ends. The sides of the polycarb are almost perfectly round so there's no gap there. That provides a great deal of surface area for the epoxy to "grab"; no doubt in my mind the tubing would break before the bond. Another plus for making sure the pieces fit just right means there's no possibility for ejuice to migrate between the polycarb and the AVS parts. That would look like crap after a while.

The "trick" is where the edge of the avs tank meets the polycarb tubing. That needs to be really close to make it look right. I didn't have the file I need so it was a bit of a challenge to get them to line up that close. I've got one ordered so the next one will have an almost seamless fit.

PlastX is a fantastic polish for plastic and almost anything that looks/feels like plastic. Incredible stuff....
The other parts are just regular polishing. The tank was pretty old and beat up so there's a couple of dings/scratches still there, but not worth the work it would take to get them out.
