...think that just because you can vape inside means you have the right to vape inside no matter what the place says. Today I was at the mall and another vaper came up to me and said "why are you doing that outside?" I told him the mall has a policy that you cant vape inside. Of course he went right in and started vaping up the place. I ran into him later and he said "I hope security tries and stops me. I'll call the cops on them!" I laughed at him and said "You really think the cops will come to help YOU when the state is trying to ban these?" Of course Captain Freedom went right on vaping and said "I have rights." I replied, "not in NY state hahah."

Yeah, I go outside with the smokers when I am out. It's just a courtesy thing for me, as some people don't even want vaping around them or don't understand it fully. I am not expecting to be welcomed with open arms in any place here, nor do I think it is my god given right to vape anywhere I damn please. I will be happy enough to just to be able to continue doing it.

Might have considered a reply like this... "Right, it's not against the law to vape indoors, anywhere. But it is the right of a business or property owner to refuse entrance to anyone for any reason. Hell, maybe management will eject someone today for scratching their .... In the meantime, people out here vaping are not customers in there buying, and if enough of us gather out here doing this, eventually they'll change their minds."

Just a thought...

Spot on. Unless the mall is owned by the State, it is not limited by Constitutional constraints. It drives me nuts when people get uppity about their right to be on someone else's property.

I don't believe second hand vape hurts anyone, nor smells, but I'm not going to shove it in anyone's face, whether that be smokers (because they can't smoke inside) or anyone else. If I can't smoke there, I won't vape there. With a few exceptions. But I can go to the mall or grocery shop without having to vape anyway. I wish it was ok to vape anywhere... second hand vapor can't hurt you.

I completely agree. Except for extreme stealth vaping in a dressing room at walmart or a bathroom, I really don't find it NECESSARY to vape inside. I feel weird, and don't want to give vaping a bad impression. Actually people are more impressed if you're with a bunch of smokers and you whip out your shiny PV than anything else . I'm lucky though, my college cafeteria lets me vape inside, they actually ASKED me to since it's not a real cigarette, and nobody ever complains.

Good concept thread. My take is this: we're currently in a full-blown war against well-funded anti's that will stop at NOTHING to witness the demise of this technology and their motivations are neither rational nor are they made public. My recommendation is to please use some common sense on where you vape, and some restraint. As a member of CASAA, the attitude of vapers, both positive and negative, will influence our efforts to fight bans and over-regulation.

It's easy enough to 'stealth' vape if you absolutely need a hit or two - please consider this an option.

Agreed. I make it a point to vape outdoors at work. People generally seem okay with the idea of vaping inside, but I'll keep it outdoors just to be considerate to anyone who may be uncomfortable with it.

Just because they said it's fine doesn't mean they're totally comfortable with it.

I do ninjavape in the toilets though.

There's a huge difference between "rights" and "privileges" that seems to escape a lot of people these days, especially those with what I like to call "Entitlement Syndrome." These are the people who seem to think that everything is their "right"; owning and driving a car, owning a dog, living in a house, vaping anywhere they feel like it. No, these are NOT rights. They are privileges and they can be taken away at any time. I DO NOT have the right to vape where smoking is not allowed. I'm allowed to vape in my office, but that privilege can be taken from me as soon as someone says they don't like it. If that happened it wouldn't make me happy, but I would comply because to do otherwise just makes me and vaping look bad.

I am so lucky to have a job that is in the field, using my own car. I can happily vape during the day. I have stopped going outside on my deck to smoke or vape though (used to do it because smoking smells and my DH does NOT smoke), and I vape in my home office. I don't usually vape in public much, although when my son was in the hospital, I asked security if I could vape outside, and after explaining what my pv was (nic inhaler, no ash, no smoke, no butts), they said "sure thing". But I did ask. I have, on occasion, stealth vaped in the bathroom in places though. Usually when I am out for the day with my DH, since I don't vape/smoke in front of him (he really does not like anything that is smoking related at all), but does not kick up too much of a fuss with my vaping. He took the time to look on this forum to see what it was about, and now just does not talk about it. That I can live with. If only the rest of the anti's would do the same.

Someone like that ruined it for us vapers here at some of our favorite venues because he forced the issue out in the open in a very rude way, by vaping inside without asking and proceeding to argue with management that he couldn't possibly put it out because it wasn't lit in the first place. He upset an entire wing of patrons all because he couldn't be polite and respectful. It caused the entire regional chain of restaurants to ban vaping from their establishments about a year ago. There is no going back on that ruling. And once one big chain does it...usually the rest of the chain restaurants follow suit. The sad part is he doesn't even know the extent of the public image damage he did. I'm guessing that he's probably feeling proud of himself, like he's been doing everyone a favor. Thanks for posting this toping ToneLic....hopefully this message will get out that we don't need to force this down everyone's throats.

I've only been vaping for two weeks today, but I would rather be outside with the smokers anyway. I would love to win a few converts out there. The most you're going to probably do inside of a mall is upset a bunch of stodgy anti-smokers, which might be fun in its own right, but won't do anything to help our cause out.

I'm sooooo looking forward to hanging out on the "other side of the fence" during my kids' softball season, so I can answer questions about vaping. I've already gotten three to quit analogs in just two short weeks. Tomorrow - THE WORLD!!!

it just goes to show you, that we not only need to inform other people about the use of PVs, we need to inform other vapers that may not be as in tune with the ecig mainstream as we are here.

I would really like to see what the ecig mainstream is thinking but I am having a real hard time finding it. A statement like this needs some sources to back it up.

well by ecig mainstream, i'm referring to the people on here, the people doing their research, sharing testimonies, educating others, and doing what they can to stop the bans rather than someone like my friend captain freedom who got one from fastrac and thinks hes hot stuff now. but i probably should have used a better term than ecig mainstream haha.

I vape on the plane and on the train, in the house and with a mouse. I vape here, there and everywhere. I do however know were smoking is and isn't allowed so the best advice is that is you must vape in those places do it in stealth mode. I have many hours of vaping in places were smoking is prohibited and no one is the wiser. I would be ...... if a few "captian Americas" decide to make enough noise protecting their "rights" and get PV's banned from carry on luggage! Save the huge clouds for places were smoking is OK and practice the no fog solution were it isn't.
