there are only a few that i can taste. banana from local b&m and sweet blueberry from another. my wife and i have a shelf full of juice from online and none of them taste good to me. most of them just taste like hot vapor or stale air and worse yet perfume. tried straight out of the bottle and letting those same flavors steep for a couple of week with the same results. ive not had a real smoke in over a 2 months.

what gives? i read reviews of how good some of this stuff tastes and over hear the other customers in the shops saying the same about just about everything at the flavor bars. i want that. to really enjoy the taste of these liquids.

any insight?

...and how long have you been vaping?

I usually need pretty strong flavors even after a year. For me, it's just me--I like really rich food, and I like really rich vape. But I will say that the flavor really came around the 2 month mark. Prior to that, flavors were difficult to taste.

That said, there ARE a lot of lighter flavored juice vendors out there, so it may not be your tastebuds.

no problems with food. i like alot of salt though.

been vaping for the 2 months that i havent been smoking. from the start of that, i stuck with the flavors i could somewhat taste. and they have gotten better. i do vape them now at higher voltage/watts.

if ive just got to double and triple flavors i suppose its what i gotta do. there is only one shop here in town that mixes their stuff in-house like that. i tried the strawberry and watermelon like that but those are only halfway ok on my nimbus clone and z2 dx

also nic level is down to 12mg now. going to try 6

about 20 years. damn im getting old.

I smoked for 30...if you're a new vaper, I think two things happen with juice flavors, primarily.

1) Smoking deadens your taste buds, and it takes a while for them to come back to life.
2) E-juice has a very distinctive flavor, and the flavorings often don't completely overcome the base. They often have a tendency to taste "diluted" to some degree

Both of those things resolve over time. Your tastebuds will come back to life, and you'll start to get used to the flavor of the liquid itself,so the flavorings will become more noticeable. Also, as you shop around, you'll find vendors that make juices more to your tastes, and gravitate to those vendors.

I remember when I started I thought I would never know which of the hundreds of vendors make strongly flavored juices. After spending a good deal of time on the forum and reading lots of reviews, I eventually was able to determine which vendors I would like and which to steer clear from.

It takes some time, but eventually you'll find some juices that really "do it" for you.

I'm pretty similar to you. I can't taste much (or I've had vapor's tongue for over two weeks now), and love lots of salt! (which most people can't stand). Maybe we just don't have a good sense of taste, period.

I've tried about 30 flavors in the last couple months…the only two fruit flavors that I can truly taste now (and that don't taste like soap which many fruit flavors do to me), are Mt. Baker Vapor's Dutch Apple pie with 2x flavor shots (only like this one in my Kayfun 3.1), and Pink Spot's "Pink Spot" flavor (which I asked for extra flavor in). Both are fruity, and both have really strong taste (to me at least).

Things that helped me:

- Make a conscious effort to stay hydrated
- Use Biotene mouthwash or Trident gum to keep your salivary glands working
- If a flavor tastes bad, don't feel bad about dumping your tank, giving the rest away, and finding some different juices.
- Learning to use a Kayfun Lite styled RBA. To me, it offers the best flavor (for now) and was a huge step up from Protanks with inconsistent coils and nasty silica hits.
- Lower your sodium intake.

I sometimes will vape a certain flavor, and get used to it after a day or two. Right now I'm vaping Bryce's Vanilla Custard, GLV Deadly Sin and El Kamino. Love em. If one starts to taste muted, drink some water, try another.

These things helped me, hopefully something in there will be helpful for you.

I smoked heavily for over 40 years, and also could barely taste the flavors of the juices I bought. Like you, I kept reading others post about the wonderful flavors of their juices, with all the subtle nuances, almost like talking about wine tasting.

First, do not compare yourself to others. Everyone's taste sense is very unique to them, and depends on lots of factors. I think in my case, my taste buds may not ever fully recover from all those smoking years. And, who knows, maybe my sense of taste was not too sharp to begin with, lol.

I've been off cigarettes for almost 3 months, and still do not taste what others seem to taste in their juices. A few juices I have found are pleasant, and I don't have a desire to smoke, so that's the important thing to me.

The ones I'm sticking with for now, that I can taste more than others, are Mt. Baker Cinnmon Roll, and Mt. Baker Get Razzled, which is a mixed berry flavor. I get the standard blend, 80pg/20vg with no extra shots, in 24 mg. Also, for occasional use, I got their Extreme Ice, which is a sharp spearmint flavor. Mt. Baker Butterscotch is also very nice.

I decided my expectations might be unrealistic, and I've kind of quit chasing flavors and settled in with pleasant, but not spectacular.:)

I'm really glad to find this post, because I am having the same issue...Day 47 for me, and I can't taste flavors, except briefly, the first hit I take. Then, it's just about satisfying that nicotine craving. I soothe myself by saying," Well, your cigs didn't taste that great either & you sure didn't put them down" LOL, I hope it eventually gets better. I'm really jealous of those that can taste those great-sounding flavors

Everyone already mentioned some good advice. I get flavor "overload" and have to vape my unflavored nic juice about half the time. I drink a lot of coffee but it does tend to "coat" my tongue and have to switch to soda to clear my taste buds, throughout the day, back and forth. I drink about 6 to 8 glasses of water a day in addition to coffee, soda and occasional adult-beverage lol.

You like a lot of salt? hmmm I can't do much salt or other spices or I get too much burn lol

my banana tastes better with a coffee made with cream and sugar chaser or just before i hit the juice. the blue berry i have comes and goes regardless of my drinking anything. its best when my banana starts to get muted.

It took about 4 months of vaping before my taste buds became hyper sensitive and can't put much flavor at all in my e-liquids or they are too "perfumey" or chemical tasting. Some nic bases are nasty but some are good and besides the type/brand of flavor, the nic base can make or break any e-liquid as well.

Good luck and keep us posted as to what works:)

There's so much variation with taste, not only among different people, but even just day to day, hour to hour, individually. Occasionally a flavor that I like will just go dead for me -- nothing, and I'll vape something else which will be fine... and later come back to the "dead juice," and it will be back to normal. Very weird.

My husband finds most e-liquids too faint tasting, and he mostly sticks with Halo Tribeca and Voodoo, plus a menthol and another tobacco flavor, often mixing them up in different ways. Have you tried any Halo liquids? Voodoo is pretty wild, and may not be to your taste, but it's definitely a strong flavor. It's a bit too much for me, but I like it when it's cut with some menthol. Others have mentioned Halo Kringle's Curse as a strong flavor that can be a solution for "vaper's tongue," and I have some Halo Belgian Chocolate that seems too overwhelming for me, so maybe Halo is a good brand to check out for some stronger flavors, especially if you can try some samples.
