Friend of mine gave me his old rsst (he spoiled himself with a trident) and some 28g kanthal and ecowool. wrapped up a coil, 1.2 ohms.
Filled 'er up, and low and behold... Vapor! Can't even describe the difference in flavor! Just need to drill out the air hole, and I'm gonna be one happy camper!!! :vapor :

Good for you Moonbear! I still remember the first time I got my AGA-T set up right. Wow. It was what I had been looking for for a long time :thumb:.

This ecowool doesn't wick to save it's life. I need to get my hands on some silica or ss mesh. I was under the impression that ecowool doesn't burn. But when I build my coil and pulse it to check it, it burns! Not to mention the god awful fraying! What am I doing wrong??

I use SS wicks in my AGA-T, a genny same as the RSST. When I first got it I researched wicks and what I remember is that you can use silica but it doesn't wick well enough to be good.

eHuman has a great tutorial on SS wick and wire building here. I don't torch to oxidize my SS, preferring to just pulse out the shorts. Either way, don't leave the pulsing process until you have a stable coil (no shorts) happening. I feel this is the biggest problem people have with SS wicks.

Best of luck with it :thumb:

I have a RSST and the AGA T2 and have used SS mesh, SS rope, and ceramic for wicks. By far the best vape, flavor and vapor production I have had is with a micro coil and cotton wick. Another benefit of this is any of the other above wicks heat up and begin to cook your juice and towards the bottom of the tank it starts to change color as it's getting cooked and changes the taste. Here is a setup on my RSST using 28 gage kanthal I believe 7 wraps at 1.3 ohms and yes I drilled my air hole out to about 1.6mm.

I use sterol cotton balls and very little, and it only goes about a third of the way into the tank. You still have to use the genny tilt. Todd ecogreviews on YouTube has a great video I can't seem to link on my phone called "playing with cotton, micro coils and a genesis" and he builds one on an RSST. Go take a look at it!

I've not been able to get eco wool or silica to wick well in my genny... and I bought what is considered to be the best. For me so far, cotton still works best (going to try rigid ceramic next). If you set your cotton wick up properly, you don't have to tilt between hits because when you take a hit, as long as the air hole is facing you, it tilts and saturates for you as you are taking a toot.
