I can kind of see where the original poster is coming from. Perhaps his time is short to be on here and he can't go through 100+ posts? Or maybe he's not a very good reader. We don't know, so let's all play nice and not be too quick to judge and be mean.

Plus, seeing 100+ posts can be overwhelming if you are new and stuff! I know the feeling!

I know there was a post I was interested in earlier today. I read about 3-4 pages of replies, but it had 149 PAGES of replies...yeah, with my life, I don't have time for that! LOL

So while I can relate, I think he was just expressing his thoughts in a poor way. Not all of us can be verbose and use words to describe our thoughts.

*goes back to my hidey-hole of noobness*

I can relate somewhat too. There are many very long threads that have a lot of great information, but wading through pages of chitchat can be terribly time consuming. It's just sort of the nature of a long thread though. People who have been participating in that discussion for a long time come to care for each other and want to have side discussions. It's quite nice when you think about it, but onerous if you are sifting for information.

There... Doing my part to get this thread up to 100 posts!

SO, does that mean if this post goes over 100, you won't read it?

:p
I should clarify If I start reading a thread with under 100 posts and like it I will keep following it until it gets derailed or say I found the right RTA's for me and am competent at building them -just for an example

I don't understand the thread.
Would have been more of a conversation starter if there had been some reasons or more in depth thought as to why OP won't read threads that are long.

Example, if I'm looking for a specific bit of information, airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow or some such, I've found the answer I'm after is usually in the 1st few responses. Therefore no need to read the remainder of the thread.

FWIW, I like cake and pie equally.

The OP decided to post knowing full well the types of responses that would be received. Why else post something you know is going to be derided?
Truthfully I did not think I'd get hardly any responses maybe some views this is an interesting development. I need to ponder on this a while

Most long threads in here (not the social ones) are usually users who have found what they are looking for, got competent at using it, and are generally giving back by training newbs that are now discovering said products. Those threads could get really long indeed. ;)

Well, we're trying really hard to get this thread up over 100 :)

When you're looking for specific info, and a thread title looks promising, you'll often find some good responses in the first few pages (set to default 10 per page.) After that, it often devolves to repetitive replies, additional experiences, or just drifting off topic. Although it will sometimes come back on topic later.

I often find that using google to search, and using those results to jump back into ECF threads will be more effective than using the board's search, and will often plunk you down into pertinent parts of those long threads.

This is also useful:

Rather than wading through a scrillion posts, I can simply enter the keywords I'm interested in to filter out any non-relevant posts.
