back on topic:

pie, being not only the subjectively superior choice, but also the morally one as well (this dates back to the Reformation....or Super Bowl XVII...i get them confused) will always be the preferred choice over cake by any sane individual.

original Rorschach style tests to determine mental acuity were once just flash cards with pies and cakes. Cake choosers would be thrown into a pit, most likely to put on lotion or getting the hose again. whereas Pie choosers would become esteemed members of society.

that is a totally believable fact i just made up.

Does it still count as pie if it is shaped like a taco and comes in a small cardboard box? Cause those are good too.

The ones from McD's used to be good back when they deep-fried them. Nowadays I'd rather eat the box.

interesting question....

so this covers Hostess, Dolly Madison, What-a-Burger, McD's, and other "portable" style confectionaries...convectioniries...confettiernies.... sweets.

the answer is: yes. they meet the basic definition of a pie which is simply: be awsum. there might be more to it, but i get tired of reading after 2 seconds and need to nap.

So Porta-Pies are OK then? Whew. Had me scared for a minute there.

oh, so true! I'll bet a lot of people around here don't remember when they were deep-fried. Now *those* were a treat!

i remember everything i evar ate that was deep fried!

pies, donuts, turduckens, the soul of Marcellus Wallace, corn dogs, tacos, bacon, chicken, fish, ice cream, twinkies....i couldn't pick my own parents out of lineup, but delishus food will always be with meh!
