Obviously they're more safe than regular tobacco cigarettes, but that still doesn't equal safe. I WAS convinced. I did all the research and agreed with everyone here about their safety. I started vaping inside my house a few weeks ago, and almost immediately after that my 3 year old started developing resperatory issues. E-cigs are safe, so it didn't occur to me that there was a problem. I figured he was just allergies or a cold. Then yesterday I was vaping in the living room and the sun broke free of the clouds and a beam of light came through the window. It had been at least a minute or longer since my last puff, but you could see heavy vapor clouds rolling around the living room. I couldn't see the vapor clouds before that, so it was really weird. At that moment my 3yo ran into the living room and passed through the vapor cloud and the streaks of vapor started dancing around him. He stopped what he was doing and started coughing. I've read the stories here of non-smokers/vapors coughing to be dramatic, but I don't think my 3 year old was doing it to make a point.

I don't know what the point of me posting this is. I'm still going to vape, but I don't think I'll be doing it inside anymore, at least until I can prove my son's resperatory issues are from something else

I believe e-cigs are a healthier alternative. Common sense tells me that anything inhaled besides clean air is not good for the lungs. I'm unsure where to even get clean air anymore though. Maybe on a high mountain top in Montana? Maybe?

The vapor cloud can linger for a little while when you are vaping heavy.

Good call with your son. I would not vape around him at all anymore. Good Mom!!!

I bought air purifiers for indoors while the house is airtight. Otherwise, I open windows to use a cross ventilation system to keep the vapor away from the family. My two boys-hubs and son (adult) are allergic to the flavoring. I have a air purifiers near me as I only vape while I am on the computer. I am allergic to certain chemical smells as well. The odor of certain flavors will give me migraines and I avoid them.

There is no reason to expose a child to anything they wouldn't normally be exposed to. Whether it's "safer" than what they were getting before or not. It's not their risk assessment you're doing, it's your own. And your call is a good one until even if causation isn't a smoking gun here (no pun intended).

There is also the social issue and toddlers can mimic their parents... so a short oversight or a determined toddler might want to take a vape of their own. And it always seems toddlers are much more aware than we ever give them credit for.

Good call Mommy! -Magnus

What sucks is I didn't smoke cigarettes inside. I only vaped inside because of what I read about it. Vaper was "supposed" to desipate quickly and the nicotine being heavy and dropping. I figured I was good to smoke indoors as long as I wasn't blowing it directly in my kid's faces. In normal light, it really looked like the vaper was evaporating quickly, it wasn't 'till the sunlight came through the window that you could see a thick cloud rolling around at waist-level of my living room. I'm vaping a PG/VG mix, so I don't know if it's the PG that's bothering him or the flavor. I don't even want to test it anymore, I'm just going to move it to outside from now on.

Sensible...obviously, there is something you are vaping that your child is sensitive to. Good call.

I always smoked outside because my room mate is highly allergic to cigarette smoke. When I began vaping, I vaped inside because of it being safer. She didn't say anything for a long time; then one night she said, "I'm sorry, but your vaper is really bothering me. It's irritating my nose and it doesn't smell very good." I asked her if it was just what I was vaping at that time, and she said, "No, all of it has an odor and its not a very attractive odor." So-I am once again outside vaping. I don't have a problem doing this because if someone is sensitive, they are sensitive . . . and although I believe vaping is safer than analogs; I'm not totally convinced, either.
Oh; my co-worker stealth vapes at work, and even I can smell that; so "no odor" isn't necessarily true unless maybe someone is vaping a clear, no flavor liquid.

VG is what makes the vapor that stays around

PG is what is used for inhalation therapy in hospitals. The visible vapor disappears much more quickly. That doesn't mean it isn't still around but you won't see it.

But only lying marketers say the are "safe". Liars like the ripoff rebranders who are trying to push their product. The same liars that claim a cart lasts as long as a pack and a 1/2 of smokes, or that a battery lasts all day, or that their ecig is rated the best. They are safer than cigarettes. That does not mean they are safe. If your eliquid had PG only and no nicotine and no flavoring then that should be safe for most people, just vaporized PG like hospitals use to deliver breathed medications.

Well, that's what I do- I use unflavored in one room of the house, w/ an air cleaner running or window open. Beats being outside and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my children alone.

I think you would need to make your own unflavored liquid. It's just PG or VG mixed whith whatever percent of nic you want.

Usually unflavored liquid is sold as a DIY supply. You would mix it with vg and pg to reach your desired strength and ratio.

Might want to clarify: when you order unflavored liquid, they make it for you. It's ready to vape. It's just in the DIY section for most vendors because it's usually used to make your own custom flavors.
