Here is why. I’ve been vaping for 2 months now and I have been smoke free for exactly one month today. Let me tell you my story if you have a minute. For the first couple of weeks I used ego’s with the ego tanks while still smoking a few analogs a day. After discovering ECF I quickly transitioned to the ego twist with vivi nova tanks which made me uber happy with vaping, enough so to stop the analogs completely. After two weeks of being a non-smoker, I went to my local vape shop to reward myself with some yummy juices. But while there, on a whim I bought a ZMAX. I took my new prize home, charged the batteries and screwed on my vivi nova. I was blowing massive clouds. I was in vape heaven and couldn’t be happier.

About a week later my luck turned, but not in the good direction. I had the ZMAX on the kitchen counter and I accidently hit it with something and the darn thing tipped over and broke my beloved mini vivi. But no biggie, its only 10 bucks and I have more. Couple days later, I forgot I had it sitting in my lap, so when I hopped out of the truck at the Mexican food place it went flying to the concrete. Another mini vivi bites the dust. Again, no worries, I’m a trooper, and there’s more where that came from.

So a week goes by and I get up off the couch and when I did, somehow the ZMAX managed to fall out of my shorts pocket and land just right on the edge of the coffee table and kill my splitfire atty. This time though, the ZMAX actually took some damage. It badly scratched the display and pushed in the center pin in enough so that only one of my tanks would work. After working up some courage I pried up the center pin and got it working again. That was last week.

This past weekend I was at a Halloween party, happily carving pumpkins. I had the ZMAX in my back pocket. Somehow it found its way back to the familiar concrete. This time the vivi survived but the whole end where the 510 connection is popped off the ZMAX. I got to see ZMAX guts! I took a deep breath and assessed the damage. There was just a little broken metal on the inside lip of the cap piece, but everything else seemed to still be intact. I was able to fit it back together. This time the window over the display actually broke, is no longer smooth and a piece of plastic now floats around behind the window. The button is loose, and if I don’t press it hard enough it goes in to the menus instead of firing.

It is still usable, and works, but I guess I really don’t deserve a nice APV. I’m a 40 year old irresponsible vaper with not enough money to support my destructive nature. I just wanted to share my story, my name is Brent and I practically destroyed a ZMAX in 2 weeks. I think I’m gonna put a couple wraps of duct tape on it, just for grins.

I will not give up on vaping, and will probably go broke trying!

You gonna need these for your vivi nova.

hehehe,that V must be battlescared!

The button problem might just be one of alignment, make sure the module is aligned squarely with the button,it should be fine then.

I think some kind of holster (leather or padded!) with a hole for the button and display must be tailormade for you, maybe a couple o-rings around your tanks/atties (even the V) to protect somewhat against falls :)

Just throwing ideas

Thanks for all your replies. I'm still in good spirits. :D There is for sure a learning curve to all this. I’m just wishing it would have made less of a dent in my pocket book while I learned. I like the holster idea, I’m gonna check that out. I alsop didnty know they had a lanyard for the ZMAX so thats an idea. I had a lanyard for the ego's so that’s why I never broke them. I have the metal tank for my mini but they have all broken by bending the base causing the post to be off center even after I reseat them.

Right now I’m actually considering getting a bottom feeder, they seem like they may be a little more durable and at the very least, their shape does not allow them to easily work their way out of one’s pocket. The main thing holding me back is changing flavors during the day and on the run. I really liked being able to have 3 or 4 mini vivi's and being able to just screw a different one on when I want to change it up. Second thing holding me back is the price of the Reo's. I know they are the best, I'm just not willing to spend that much if it’s just gonna meet the same fate as my ZMAX due to my inadvertent reckless handling of these things! I am considering a Vmod XL to see if I like bottom feeders. I’ve heard some good things about the new version. Then I would leave my scarred up ZMAX at home where it is safer, but obviously not completly safe if Im using it. haha

I'd recommend a protective case, and something like that cone above for your vivi nova.

Following on what bubbajoe said.. a lanyard isn't such a bad idea. The one linked has a holster-type casing to it, and a long rope. If you don't want to wear it around your neck, you can loop that rope into a belt loop so that (hopefully) if dropped it doesn't hit the ground. If it does hit the ground, the damage should be minimal.

Oh and on the Reo.. I have one. I've ran some PVs into the ground in my time... You could run a (metal) Reo over with a car and it'd still work. I don't even have a scratch on mine right now. These things are durable! You can feel it. It's all mechanical, so there's nothing to break. No wiring of any kind. Nothing to get exposed. I recommend one if you can separate yourself from the cash. So worth it.

In theory you could pack a couple (3ml or 6ml depending on what size Reo you get) bottles with you and change flavors on a whim throughout the day. The bottles are small. Changing out your bottle is quick and super easy.

I think I've got an idea for you.

OMG, that had me rolling! Mainly because it wasn’t too far from what I had in mind. A little redneck ingenuity! It wouldn’t be the first time for me! haha

I'm also thinking adeline has some good pointers too. I'm getting some good ideas as I move forward. Thanks!

Nah, you are just learning the hard way. It happens to a lot of us. I bought a Volt X2 808 style for when I'm out and about or in my vehicle. Its compact enough, Smokeless Image has a decent CE3 clearo and they're plenty cheap. Its low profile for public .I only use the 510 APV's at home, when watching TV I have it propped up on a fancy ashtray on a coffee table in arms reach. I've learned laps are not good places to place it also!

Boden, I lived in south Austin for 14 years before moving to Taylor. Ive been to Chuy's many a times. Good stuff there.

iamtumus and LTV1, I think yall are saying what I've been thinking. I'm still learning, and forming the habits of carrying this thing around and learning the hard way. I'm still building my vaping arsenal so I will consider what yall are suggesting in the way of mechanical mods. I also may go back to my twist for when I'm out and about and save the big daddy's for home.

Thanks,

should of got a provari. only a provari can survive that type of punishment. either that or get a lanyard. ive never had problems dropping any of my devices so I wouldnt need a lanyard. I find it annoying to have a massive e cig hanging around my neck

Yeaaaahhh!
