i would seriously not leave that charger alone while its on. so dangerous. also, if you want a quicker charge get one of the chargers that i listed earlier.... Efest LUC, Nitecore Intellicharger, xtar...... they have a button that allows you to change the charge output from 0.5amp to 1.0amp this will cut your charging time in half. my charger also has a 2.0 amp setting for 26650 batteries.

I just wanted to make sure my anxiety about the charger wasn't for nothing. I guess I made the right choice to not charge the batteries overnight. I have them on the charger now, I can see the red lights on the charger which state that they are not charged yet.

I will invest in another set of batteries so I can still vape while I am charging a different set, and I will invest in a better charger and charging bag next month. For now, I will charge while being vigilant.

Thank you everyone!!
that sounds good! i would hate if something happened due to the charger malfunctioning. get yourself a nice classy charger with some sweet features haha :D

I own and use a nitecore I4, previously owned a efest LUC (PIF to my SIL), and also own 2 Trustfire 001's. No I don't use the Trustfire chargers day in, day out, but I used to, would I hesitate to use them in a pinch, No. Do I sit and watch then when in use, No. They all have worked fine.
Whether the Trustfire shuts off I have no idea, but I've seen nothing to say 'run, don't walk'. Any electrical appliance is subject to fail. Whether that is a catastrophic failure resulting in flames/smoke/personal injury is largely based on luck or the lack there of. I would, however submit that if ecig battery chargers are such a safety hazard Where are the Banner Headlines on the internet, tv news, newspapers, etc.? Wouldn't this also be fuel for the ANTZ fires?

Some notes from observing my Trustfire.

I am not sure if it actually shuts off power to the cell when it finishes charging, I haven't tested it that far. What I do know is that several times, my cells have trickled up to 4.3 volts. If I pull the battery off right after the light turns green (the red charge light fades off as the battery reaches capacity, so it ill appear amber for a few minutes before charge completes) It is usually dead-nuts 4.25v. I am not sure if there is a correlation between time left on after charge or just inconsistency when the cells reach 4.3. It has never charged a cell higher than that.

It has reverse polarity protection, something I tested entirely by accident. When the light didn't change after inserting a cell, I thought it had died, until I noticed my VTC3 inserted upside-down. I'm here, with both hands attached, to tell the tale.

It charged at 500mAh, which is slow as balls but very safe. I don't like fast charges, they put more stress on cells and are more likely to cause a problem if there's already an issue with a bad/dying cell. The charger base gets warm to the touch, but the batteries stay relatively cool while charging.

I took it apart to check out its guts, and the soldering job was lackluster. I ended up clipping the leads on several components that ended up dangerously close after this thing was soldered together.

Oh, and mine has a switch on the side to select 3 or 3.6v cells. Make sure you have your switch in the right position, or you won't fully charge your batts.

Here's the Deal...

Any Smart Charger, like your Trustfire, that is Working Properly should be Fine to Charge an Battery that is Working Properly, overnight.

But this is all Based on the Charger, and the Battery/Batteries doing what they are Supposed to be doing.

Unfortunately, so much of what is Sold these days is Cheap, Mega-Produced stuff where Quality takes a Back Seat to Bottom Line Price. And that is Even if the Name on the Outside of the Product is Really who made the Product. And it is not some Knock-Off.

So to Me, you can't just say that if I buy this Brand of Charger I will never have or will have a Problem.

These Batteries I believe are Knock-Offs...

2 PC 18350 IMR AW 700mAh Battery High Drain Torch CREE VAP Cig x Flat Top | eBay

Because I don't think that AW makes any Flat Top Batteries in 18350.

So if a Person buys them think they will not have a Problem because of the Name Brand, they might get a Surprise. And the Surprise might happen at 3:18 in the Mourning if they are Charging them Overnight.

The Long and the Short of it is I would Suggest that a Person Doesn't Charge ANY Batteries in ANY Charger overnight or when Unattended.

And use a Few Simple Precautions when Charging. Like putting the Charger in a Glass Baking Pan instead of on top of a Pile of Oily Rags or you Family Heirloom Table.

In a Perfect World, where things Cost a few Dollars more because of Better Components / Quality Control and there were no Knock-Offs, none of this Would be Necessary. But we Don't live in that world.

Better to be Safe than Sorry.

I have a trustfire charger. I think it is still a china cheapy, but it is MUCH better made than the no name china charger that went up into flames yesterday.

The charge light goes from Red(charging) to green(charged), but I don't think it turns off when the batteries are done charging, since the light doesn't shut off.

I have a trustfire too. It works flawlessly. I put my batteries on charge before bed and wake up to fully charged batteries in the morning. Never gave it a second thought after I charged my batteries the first day!

I have a charger that turns off when it is finished but I still prefer to stay on the side of caution when it comes to batteries in general. I try to do it while I am at home. Maybe get extra batteries to keep a larger rotation. Just my 3 cents. (inflation) Good luck and happy vaping.

Don't ever hesitate to ask a question here because there is no such thing as a silly question if it is something you want to know and I guarantee there are others that wanted to know also. That is the wonderful thing about the people of ecf.
