Hey all,
I love my KR8081, haven't had an real cig since I got it on thursday, but I feel like death, so does my girlfriend (we both got one). Sore throat, splitting headache, and flu like symptoms. She doesn't get the cig smoking withdrawal sickness, I have, but I'm getting nicotine, so not sure I would get it, and it feel a lot worse than that. Got 24mg carts, maybe they are too strong for the amount I like to vape, I know snuss and such will dry out my throat like crazy cause of all the nicotine. I'm thinking about ordering some vegetable glycerin carts to see if they are any better. I guess it could be the flu from all the people who've wanted to try my e-cig. But it does kinda feel different, like it is really screwing up my throat. Any suggestions? Anyone had this and found VG worked better? Or that lower strength carts were better? I'm really scared that this isn't gonna work for me, I really need to quit smoking and feel I can do it easily this way if I can keep vaping.
Many thanks

You may have already seen this

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/health-safety-e-smoking/3305-list-common-symptoms-when-e-smoking.html

It's difficult, because the symptoms of too much nicotine sound like some of the symptoms of not enough nicotine...

But from what you describe, it sounds more like too much nicotine. I'd recommend trying a lower level of nicotine and see if that helps. If you only have the 24 mg then try to decrease the frequency and number of puffs that you take, at least until you get some lower level juice in.

I had the same flu-like symptoms on my first week. But then again it may also be the flu for me :p

Don't feel discouraged, the last you want is to go back to analogs. I'm on my third week and my sore throat has decreased. We're very fortunate that we stumbled upon this forum and can gather very useful information from people who went through the same phase as we did. With a little bit of trial and error, I'm sure we'll get there. Goodluck!

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

It reads to me like you are having 2 issues.

First, you are dehydrated. If you are new to vaping and don't take a drink of water (the water here is important as soft drinks can actually make it worse) after each exhale, you are dehydrating your throat and associated membranes.

Second, you are vaping too much nicotine and getting the first hints of OD on top of the dehydration.

Sorry to say, but set it aside for a bit... Drink water... After urinating drink some more... See what your symptoms are like then.

See about getting lower nic coming and watch for those nic OD hints. They can mount up and make you feel like catching the flu would help you feel better.

as far as the throat.. that is a very common symptom since pg will dry your throat.. go buy some cloriseptic spray.. use that and drink a lot of fluids hot tea works good for it.. but work on drinking more.. taking sips of water while useing the pv helps...

i have had mine 5 months and still if i do not drink much my throat will start getting sore..

headache is a sign of nicotine overdose.. since you just started useing the pv if you get to the point that you really need a cig.. instead of overdueing it with the pv smoke half a cig.. it will kill the craving after a few days you will not be able to stand smoking cigs and the pv will be able to take care of the cravings that you are overdueing with the pv now

just like hoosier said..

there is many chemicals in cigs that you are not getting with the pv, so you are going to end up overdueing the amount of nicotine that you are used to since you do not have those other chemicals mixed with it..

Thanks guys, I talked to the co. I order from and it sounds like we're using too strong a cart for out smoking habit. Also probably dehydrated, since we overdid the drinking a bit two nights ago.
Thanks,
Czo

PS: anyone know if there is a way to get someone on the phone at Vapor4Life? I have a broken battery and some questions about replacement, and am finding email clunky. Email, wait an hour or two for a response, don't get all my questions answered, reply, wait, etc. It's great for simple ?s, more complicated ones, expressed really poorly by myself, not so much. I want to place another order with them ASAP but don't want to do it till I find out about the broken battery, if they will replace it, etc, so I can hopefully get them to include it in my order and save on shipping.

I have just been through similar, coughing fits, itchy skin, no sleep. I read up info and posted my problem on here. Then set to find out what it was. From feedback the first culprit seemed to be PG, so i cut it out and moved onto my VG. Within an hour or two there was an improvement, less coughing, less itching but still some irritation. The next day i felt much better but i was still a bit itchy and still had a little cough. I continued my search to find out what was causing this. I then realized that my VG liquids were only 18mg, opposed to my PG liquids at 38mg. What i then did was diluted a bottle of my PG liquid from 38mg down to 16/18mg and vaped that all day. Sure enough, after 6 hours my itching had almost vanished, my cough was 10 times better.
Now 2-3 days later, i have no cough and so far the itch has not returned, so my PG is back in the racks, only now it is 16mg or less and I'm a happy vaporing again.

So, IMHO it was the nicotine that was the problem, too strong at 38mg. Giving it a few more days before i diluted my other liquids. Fingers crossed.

Aww, I'm sorry you and your gf are feeling so awful! I had a weird thing happen during my first week of vaping. My right ear filled with fluid and I could only hear muffled sounds. I never had anything like it in my whole life and was extremely annoyed and uncomfortable.

I realized that I was vaping like a chimney with high nic. And I wasn't drinking much water at all and was no doubt dehydrated. I lowered the nic a bit and started drinking more water. It took about a week or so for my ear to clear, but it did and that problem hasn't come back. I hope both of you are feeling much better very soon!

Head over to the V4L sub-forum - Vapor4Life - E-Cigarette Forum and look for Smilin, rocks82 or doshsma, then click on the forum nick and leave them a private message (PM). I think the under 15 crowd can leave PMs. If not, post again here and I can pass on your info to someone.

Well, a long overdue update:
Both my girlfriend and I continue to use ecigs. Things are better. I try to drink some kind of fluids when vaping, it helps some. That said, we still both have problems with throat irritation. And I think both of us have never been sick so much in our lives as over the last five weeks or so. I guess... I hope that it is still better than smoking real cigs. Anyways, they are quite unsatisfying to me now. Kinda wonder if I should try to quite these soon before the habit gets too ingrained. I definitely don't plan to keep using these forever, I really want to be done with nicotine completely at some point.

Oh yeah,
I've also purchased some vegetable glycerin carts, and find that these seem to irritate my throat much less. Unfortunately the flavor selection is pretty crappy. I hope Vermont Vapor starts making carts for kr808's as they are local to me and use VG exclusively. Hopefully if I can make myself switch to these exclusively, the last of my problems will clear up.
Thanks all,
- Czo

Hi, I don't think this could be related with the E-cigarette you have or the liquids. Generally high doses of nicotin induce nause, incremented salivation, abdominal pain, vomit, diarrea so I would exclude that to be the cause. I think it might just be some regular viral infection since you said you let it try to many people. Passing from mouth to mouth it's an excellent way to get that type of infections, since if someone is infected ( could himself still not have the symptoms) has very high virus quantities in the saliva. probably just flue ;)
