I just realized something that made me laugh. Since I started when I was 13 I had to hide it from my folks. I thought was so sneaky and careful about it and always wondered how they knew I was smoking. Duh!!!

Like everyone once our sense of smell improves there is no way to hide it. Not very sneaky of me now that I look back on it. Funny...

Thanks everyone for posting your stories.

After smoking 40 yrs, in total (2 extended quits), I was finally set free only because of ecigs. First day without, 7-22-10, wearing nico patch I would've been out buying a carton if I hadn't had ecigs to carry me through! I've never been so grateful for this invention than almost anything else I can think of. Ten months later daughter and s-I-l moved in with me and both smoke like chimneys. I'm still not tempted to go back and I was a 3 plus pck a day smoker of Marlboro reds. Thank heaven for ecigs!

Same thing here! I think its a good thing you tried it, cuz now you know! Before when i would quit, it would drive me crazy. My husband would have to drag me away from a group of smokers because I would have to stop and try to breathe in their very essence (which must have been a strange sight!) AFter i started vaping, I tried a cig and for the very first time ever it was so disgusting! Now the smoke smell is disgusting to me too. Finally!

today though I'd try a smoke. Well it was the most foul tasting thing I ever had

Congrats! To me, that's great. You're a pretty confirmed non smoker after that. I'm afraid to try a real cig. I think I would still like it, and I don't want to go back to smoking.

and still I smoke 3 or 4 cigarettes a day though usually I can't get through a complete one. The urge is still there but there is hope now and my focus is on how many I don't smoke.

When I started vaping, I was told not to push it, to vape when I wanted, smoke when I wanted, and it would all come around. I think that was good advice. After awhile, I was down to 10 or fewer cigs a day, but I couldn't get rid of them. My urges would come right after meals, and I would have to smoke several before the craving went away. Vaping through it did not help.

I was using 24mg nicotine juice. (And I still am.) I got myself some 30mg juice, and an atomizer/drip tip. I started using the 30mg when I would get the cravings, and using the 24 the rest of the time. That did the trick. The very day I started doing that, I quit smoking, and haven't had a cig since. Also, I didn't need the 30mg nic for long before I was able to quit using it and just use the 24 all the time. I still have it around, but I don't remember the last time I used the 30. Before long, I expect to start ordering a lower nic level when I get juice to see if I can cut down my nic level.
