I'm with you, Kimber. I quit "Cold turkey" for about two weeks, ran out of supplies, and since then have been fighting the battle. I decided to go all out war a couple of weeks ago, and I have a bartleby 3.7 and 5v, a chuck, a liter of e-liquid (10 flavors in 10ml bottles), 25 attys, manual batteries and P/Ts for my 401 all on order. The wait for the Chuck was killing me, so I picked one up in the classifieds. This stuff should all hit the beach in a couple of days (except the personized Chuck) and then I'm going to try quitting again. I know I've got a ton invested, but I figure it's nothing compared to the value of an extra year or more with my wife and five kids.

Seems like, for me at least, if I can stay off the coffin nails for at least a week, my taste buds sour on the taste of smoke, and I should be able to hang in there, but I am definitely gearing up for the long haul.

Good luck to you.

First and most important...can I date your avatar

I haven`t smoked for about 6 months now. But it took me about 2 months to drop cigs. Every once in a while I wake up and...without thought...reach in my pant pocket for a lighter :?: Not even on account of stress...just old habits die a hard death. If I smoke a real cig right now...this moment...I wouldn`t care.

I might be down on myself if I kept it up...but I`m more interested saving my lungs...not so worried if I cheated with a few.

And vanity...I don`t care for my yellow teeth...nor do I like the smokers wrinkles I started to notice on my face...even though I`m a man...no hurry to look old. (although I do try and cheat, asking for senior discounts when ever possible ;))

Like others here are saying, just no big deal. Take it easy on yourself and try to get back on the ecigs. Every real one you don`t smoke is...life gained. Your life.

Kimber what you're going through is probably the norm.

I got a 510 and loved it for a week or two, but hated it in the car. The e-cig also doesn't cut through morning mouth and/or toothpaste flavor, so I found myself lighting up in the car.

I looked at why I was still smoking and what could be done to change those factors?

Bigger batteries mean that I have good battery life for my entire 45 minute drive. I use an 801 atty which holds twice as much juice and has more flavor.

Anyway, don't beat yourself up... If quitting cigs was easy, everyone would be doing it. Other NRT therapies have a %5 success rate, why do we think e-cigs should be a %100 success for everyone? (Especially since they all have their issues at this point)

Focus on doing what you want to while doing what you can.

When I began using e-cigs, I intentionally did not stop using analogs because I wanted to be free to choose. After a while, I decided to try going a few days without an analog and discovered that I didn't like them any more. Going that route, however, meant that I couldn't remember when I'd last had a cigarette. (It was kinda funny seeing the looks on people's faces when they'd ask if the weird gadget I was holding really helped me quit smoking and my answer was "Well...my last cigarette was...um...I think a couple weeks ago?")

To fix that, I decided to smoke one last analog on New Years' Eve just to have a date to point to. I'd had a few drinks so I actually enjoyed that last cigarette even though I was glad for it to be over so I could get something that actually tasted GOOD from my Xhaler... Anyhow, I have not even had so much as a puff of an analog since--I didn't really want to be strict on myself, but I like being able to hold on to the fact that I haven't smoked a cigarette in this Decade. I have had cravings, of course, but if they get really bad I'll just pop a Camel Dissolvable Strip or use my Iolite or Ploom to get the full spectrum of tobacco alkaloids...but that's been pretty rare--I'm not even half-way through my first pack of strips.

I honestly wouldn't mind "falling off the wagon", but I don't want to lose having New Years as my last ciggy...and having said that, I better go find the pack of strips in my car.

Kimber, I quit smoking in April of 2009. I started smoking again in November of 09. With atomizers dying left and right, and batteries failing.... then the juice not giving me what I needed. THEN the crazy move in the middle of the month because my landlord decided to sell his place..... I started to smoke again.... and it was like I never missed a beat. I was back to 1 pack a day sometimes a little more.

This month they passed a new tax adding an additional 2$ per pack of cigarettes to go towards schools here in Utah. This ...... me off, and I said No More!! So I busted my ...., and got 7 atomizers, 2 new batteries, 1 new passthough, 10 carts, and 100ml of my favorite juice that never failed me.
Day one: I had 3 cigarettes
Day two: I had 1 cigarette and it tasted like .... so I put it out half way
Day three: I had the half of that cigarette that morning
Day four: I snuck a cigarette from my husband
Day five: Had an especially stressful moment, and had a cigarette.
Day six: no cigarette
Day seven: no cigarette

So on an so forth.... You get the point. So.... now I am cigarette free again.... The days that my husband is home it is really hard for me. But I remind myself that I am not only addicted to the nicotine in analogs, but I am addicted to the other stuff as well.... and that other stuff is killing me. When he is gone on his overnights, it is much easier because he isnt around.
He doesnt help either.... he is constantly begging me to have a cigarette with him. His guilt trips about how he doesnt have his smoking buddy anymore... but he wont vape. So it is a constant struggle with me. I just remember to keep strong and I know that you can do the same Kimber :) My faith in you is great :)

Sorry to hear that Raven... Sucks that the hubby can't get his head out of his .... and be more supportive. If he can't help he could at least get the heck out of your way and let you live your life as you see fit. WTF does it matter to him if you use a PV or not? Your lungs, your life.

I'm kinda the opposite... I moved in with a non-smoking girlfriend and use the PV so I don't spend half my life sitting out on the porch smoking. (I volunteered to smoke outside when we moved in, no need for her clothes to smell like smoke) She likes the PV and will even have a few drags now and then.

However, she has never given me grief about having an analog here and there. She has to hug me when I stink, has to taste cigs on my breath when we kiss, and never a word.

On the flipside, your hubby has nothing to deal with except the fact that he has noone to smoke with? Can't you PV while he kills himself? You're still "smoking" with him...

He probably feels like he should quit but doesn't want to, and he's embarrassed because you've done something to make the effort and he refuses to. Option 2 is that he's afraid if you quit you'll put pressure on him to quit or smoke outside the house. Encourage him to be your PV buddy. Either have him come smoke with you while you vape, or tell him that you'll smoke with him if the next time he vapes with you. Give and take. You might smoke a few more analogs, but you might find that just the thing to get the hubby to try it or at least leave you alone when you're doing it.

Ya know what? I actually never thought of doing that! I have a few new prefilled carts that he might like. They are not overfilled, or anything like that so the risk of juice in the mouth is a bit lower.
ANd when I do his analogs I dont have to inhale. I just cant stand the taste of them. But I really do like your idea :), And in turn will give it a shot!

I have fallen off twice. It happenned when my atomisers died on me and being in australia, I could not go anywhere to get them. I had to order some from overseas and while I waited for them I went crazy and had some cigarettes. Ill tell you one thing though, they taste like horshradishs. (they taste bad) I got back on my ecig and no more cigs for me. My best advice is to always have atomisers and liquid on hand in excess otherwise its real likely that you might relapse.

Don't stress about it, and don't push it. Try to vape whenever you can instead of reaching for one.

After a couple of weeks, I was down to a cig per day. Then one every three or four.

Now it's one a week or less. But I don't even like the taste of them anymore.

Putting stress and unrealistic expectations in my head, telling myself that I can't have one makes me want them more.

I'd rather vape in my living room than smoke in my garage.

Mike, bro, you're letting me down over here.... :grr:

Eh, I guess it was worth shot, right?

You can lead a horse to water, but they always balk when you try and take them to AA meetings.

LMMFAO!

Well he also informed me that he wont be quitting smoking till I quit vaping. He doesnt consider vaping as quitting smoking. *sigh* I dont think he understands how he smells or anything even though he says that he has quit smoking before.

Thulium- What is this you are referring to?

Iolite: Is a butane powered 190C vaporizer. It is not an "electronic cigarette" but more like a portable hookah. It can be used with regular tobacco or herbal blends, shisha or non-tobacco molasses, or you can even use regular e-liquid but that hits REALLY hard. More info: My iolite, The Next Generation in Portable Vaporisers. Portable vaporizer sales

Ploom: Similar in function to the Iolite but considerably smaller (5" long and 1/2" on each side) the Ploom is a beta product that also runs on butane to vaporize small "pods" of tobacco or herbal mixtures and PG. More info: ploom

Camel Dissolvable: Based on snus, dissolvables are finely ground tobacco shaped into pellets called Orbs, twisted into Sticks, or pressed into Strips. RJ Reynolds is currently test marketing these here in the Portland, OR market. Personally, I enjoy the Fresh flavor Strips because they're similar to breath strips (but they take a minute or two to completely dissolve) but they give a nice quick "rush" of nicotine. I don't use them very often (I'm still on my first pack of 20), but I like having them on hand in case I get a craving for the other chemicals in tobacco or if I am unable to vape for some reason. More info: www.cameldissolvables.com

Note that the above products are NOT electronic cigarettes, but they are technically "Smoke Free" alternatives to smoking traditional cigarettes. It seems that you'll get the "cleanest" experience using electronic cigarettes, but using smoke-free or vaporized whole tobacco is an alternative for people who feel they are still "missing something" (namely MAO Inhibitors found in the whole tobacco alkaloid.)

Kimber.

I have had my Joye 510 for 6 months. I haven't quit. In fact, today is only the second time I've tried to quit completely. I am on day 3.

Don't feel bad, I would VAPE AND STILL SMOKE A PACK AND A HALF A DAY. LoL, definately not good but hey I like to do both.

Here is a tip for those who want to quit. Stop with the little banners on the bottom. Create a SAVINGS ACCOUNT, and every 2 days, put the amount that you would spend on cigarettes in it. At 6.91 a pack, I am saving 14 dollars every two days. Once you get to 200, buy 100 worth of E-CIG supplies to keep the habit going, and take that 100 and BUY SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF. Maybe some teeth whitening, or new clothes that don't have cigarette holes in them.

This is a game. Your mind tries to win. We are all addicted to these things. We are all bound to fall off the wagon. What seperates you from people who CAN'T stop, is your will power.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
