I quit smoking after 42 years of them a little over 6 months ago. Landmark event for me. My ability to quit I owe to vaping...thank God for that crutch. Maybe I have other issues going on, but I could swear that more I vape the shorter my wind becomes. I figure no sense going to the doctors because most of them are thumbs down on vaping, but would like to know if others have experienced this. I'm on 3mg nicotine 50/50 juice @ 10.5 - 11.5 watts. I am a chain vaper, if you see me, you see me with my mod and atty. Any feed back?

What hardware are you using.
How many millilitres per day do you vape? 10?

That shortness of breath, often described as a heavy feeling in the lungs, is often caused by the vg, though your 50/50 mixture isn't terribly high. I had that problem with 20/80. It took about two weeks to become a concern and at least two more weeks at 70/30 to mostly clear it up. My suggestion is to try a much higher pg level for a few weeks.

For most people the blend is just a matter of taste or wicking. Some of us do have that problem with high vg, though it is less common than pg sensitivity. Ultimately, there are just a few who can't vape. Fortunately, it's much easier to drop the vape than to quit smoking. G'luck.

I'm using a Nautilus Mini with a iStick 30. I guess I should also mention that I vape just menthol flavor, about 6ml a day +/-

Well i'm pretty stumped.
Could be an allergy of somesort
could be your not changing coils often enough..... does your vape make you cough?
too much menthol?
something else in the elqiuid

Have you considered using a higher mg liquid and cutting back the amount of vaping? Maybe try lower vg? Some people get a heavy chest feeling from too much vg.
Ya, thought about that, but it's the concept of sucking and hand movement, guess you might call it the motor action that keeps me from even thinking about that.

No, as a matter of fact, my coughing (smoker's cough) has gone away completely. Coil, changes...as needed. I've always been able to get a couple of weeks from a new coil.

80 ml on one coil sounds like a lot to me.

Well, maybe I'm wrong..if so let me know..I change coils when they (A) start to taste burnt, (B)when they stop wicking well. Other then that, why change? Teach me...

I figure after six months you ought to be able to tell frm the taste if it's burnt.

In my case when I used to use protanks I used to change coils after at most 3 days.
The old coils I left to soak and on Sundays I'd rewick them.

That's what I'm saying..I'll change them even if there's an off taste going on. I never dry burn my coils by running out of juice, if I take even one hit off a dry coil...I trash it...I can taste the burnt flavor. I use a good quality juice from VaporFi, the only menthol I really like, and it doesn't seem to gunk up my coils as fast as other brands. The whole thing has me puzzled. Either way, this is a slow, but progressive thing and has me concerned.

You probably should go to the doc and do some tests.

Only as a last resort. The reason I quit smoking 6 months ago,was a mini stroke brought on by hot boxing 4 packs a day. At that time they did a full work-up on me and found all was well...even my lungs if you can believe that! After 42 years of smoking they said my lungs were clear. Ok, that being said, and still being a rookie at vaping. There has been one change in my vaping habits. I can't say exactly when I noticed the shortness of breath, but it does come to mind after reading other posts here, that I have change from 70/30 to 50/50 (pg/vg) about a month and a half ago. Only reason was VaporFi stocks 3mg in 50/50 only. The 70/30 they have is in 6mg. My goal is 0mg in about a month.

high vg does tend to cause tightness of the chest, but I wouldn't consider 50/50 to be high vg.
Worth looking at.

I wouldn't worry much about the nicotine strength much. You could always buy your own pg and dilute it.
Oh, that's one thing you can try; just try vaping straight pg for a while and see what happens.

Guess that's a shot. I did play with DIY for a while, and still have some menthol crystals and PG left. I'll see if I can ratio it back to 70/30 at least. As you can imagine, I have OCD, Clinched jaw and all, and the thought of giving up vaping as a crutch is not in my line of thoughts. Gotta get my vape, gotta get my vape..gotta get my vape...know what I mean?

you smoked for 42 years and you've probably got some COPD going on ..pulmonary doc time.

I have it..play around with your pg/vg ratios..some opt for the more pg, I went the more vg 80% vg at least or I wheeze or cough more. I was a menthol smoker (so we crystallized our lungs as well as blew them up *lol*) but menthol might be your culprit there too..

you're on the money with the coils..when it's that icky burnt taste or won't make vapor.

fiddle around with it with those lil 15ml bottles and see how it goes.

good luck
