She came to me today saying she wants to vape. She doesn't smoke cigarettes, though, she wants to do it for the flavor. Obviously 0mg nic juice. But she asked for a setup that would last a while. Here is what I said, and I am asking for help on it because I want to make sure it's the most viable setup for a beginner.

Mod: Evic VTC-Mini
tank: TFV4
Tank coilhead: 1.5 ohm single coil
Battery: LG HG2
Charger: Efest LUC v2

She is looking to spend around 100 bucks and this will put her at around 110 without juice, which she is cool with.

So what do you think? Good setup or am I overthinking this or am I flat out wrong?

I used to think never smokers should not vape, but I have changed my mind on it after vaping for 2.5 years. One day I believe vaporizers will be as ubiquitous as the aforementioned chewing gum and you might even find one in every medicine cabinet or end table. Its nothing more then a life style choice and if someone wants to vape, I say let them. How else are we going to get the pin heads to accept it? Its just vapor, not much different then boiling water.

Your friend is over 18, and if I understand correctly, she did not ask your opinion on whether or not she should vape, she asked you to research a good kit for her.

To me that says she has already made up her mind. She is planning to vape.

What I WOULD do is talk her into buying a cheap starter kit, certainly not $100, because being a never-smoker, and a never-vaper, she may not even LIKE vaping after day one.

I'd tell her to spend $18 and buy a Joyetech AIO kit w/ 0.6 ohm coil and try that first.

People who are smoking and want to get off cigs are more inclined to fiddle with vape gear and accept that it is finnicky and imperfect. They have more at stake.

People who don't smoke probably have less inclination to put up with all the fiddling after a few weeks just to blow some clouds. At least, that's what I've noticed.

Hate to see her spend $$ when she can try vaping and maybe buy a nice pair of shoes for herself with the rest LOL

However, if she were my friend, AND she asked me if she should do this, start at all, I would have to agree with those who say don't start. There is nothing that we know that says it's 100% safe about inhaling food flavorings made for injestion into your lungs. Fresh air is better. :)

Ok, since she wants to go for it, and wants clouds, let's get something capable of that,
Eleaf Istick 200w $30, iStick TC200W by Eleaf $29.99 I have one and it's a tough mod!

Smok TFV8 Baby Beast, $17, TFV8 Baby Beast by Smok
Same as the TFV8 but smaller and a lot cheaper!

That leaves $50 for batteries and a charger. It also gets her a mod that is a lot more versatile, and capable of cloud chasing, for little money.

I agree with both Racehorse and Sawlight. I have to question WHY she wants to vape (blow clouds?) and not being a smoker. Is it peer pressure from her friends? Is it just something to "be cool" with her friends?

As her friend, I would discuss her real reasons to vape. She's an adult and will make the decision herself, so if she decides to vape, as her experienced friend I would provide her with an informed recommendation on gear and e-liquids.

My own daughter took up vaping because all of her friends were smokers. When they hung out together, like young people do, they all smoked cigarettes to pass the time. She wasn't a smoker, so she often felt out of place among them...probably was feeling the pressure to start smoking to fit in.

She was familiar with vaping because I had already been vaping for a couple of years after being a smoker. She had sampled a lot of my new flavors when I got them. She decided she wanted her own vape setup as a birthday gift. She wanted to vape zero-nicotine flavors.

Remembering that I began smoking in a similar situation as hers when I was her age, I agreed that perhaps a vape setup would be a healthier alternative to smoking, and might prevent her from becoming a smoker in the future. I took the innitiative and got her an inexpensive vape setup and provided zero-nicotine in the flavors she wanted.

Long story short, its a couple of years later. She still vapes recreationally and while she studies (she's a junior in college). She buys her own e-liquid, and uses 3mg or 6mg nicotine flavors. She says the little bit of nicotine helps her to concentrate.

A byproduct of her vaping is her older brother, previously a smoker, now vapes instead. Seems she was able to convince him to vape while I was not able to (peer pressure?). Her boyfriend was a smoker when she began dating him, and she was able to convert him to begin vaping, too.

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
I know a never -smoker who vapes to curb his sweet tooth (diabetic risk). He became an instant huge cloud chaser. He says it also dulls his nerves/relaxes him.

He is both 0 + 3mg nic.......depending on budget.

lesson learnt: people vape for many reasons.
