Homeish now
It's like they say on a plane..."Put the oxygen mask over YOUR face first, then help others..." but hopefully none of us will ever have to do that :)

we have a lotta folks here that put the oxygen mask on...then give theirs to another person...and have to wait for shipping to get a new one. Mixed blessing of good hearts :D 0o

What a great idea and the generosity is amazing :) I love this place!

For a backup I'd recommend KGO (ego/riva clone with higher voltage and mAh, 1100). Rather than buying a whole kit with cartridges and a cute box that are likely thrown away, you can buy a couple of batteries and a charger. You're set. Breezesmokes and Hoosierecigsupply sells them.

Thanks for all of you.

Once you get your back up secured, what is the minimum amount of "stuff" you should have on hand guys? Give me your thoughts on that and vaping budgets if you have one. :)

I think planning at least 30 days in advance is a good plan:

I used to be a carto junkie and I'd have 3 boxes per month (15 cartos) and kept at least one atty for emergency use. I use attys much more now, so I'm trying to buy two or three atty's a month until I get a stash built up and know I'm safe for a while. I know I have to have at least 90ml of liquid a month. (I used to do the Tasty Vapor 48mg 30ml and the 4oz doubler and have 150ml of 9.6mg for around $35, good for vaping on a budget if there's a flavor there that you can vape 150ml of)

So:

3 boxes of Boge cartos (CCV is the only place I get cartos): $20 shipped
-or-
2x attys depending on where you get them: $14 to $18
90ml Liquid also depends on where you get it: $35 to $45

The juice I get now is about $40 shipped for 90ml 6mg and add attys and I'm spending $54 + atty shipping (couple bucks) a month just for what I TRULY need to be safe. MUCH cheaper than smoking!

I have a 510 I bought local a few months back. I am down to one atty and a week or so of liquid left. I have worked 3 non consecutive weeks in the last 3 months and have been in and out of the hospital over the last month with one surgery down and one more to go and I'm not even sure if my insurance will cover it. I'm on the verge of a panic attack wonder when my hardware is going to go out on me. I've considered making my own mod but I can't even afford what little cost for that. At times its either vape or feed my kids or vape or have gas money or vape or well you get the idea. Thank you for listening to my story and for your generosity.

Edit: so I got to work and my battery died went to grab my only spare battery and its gone. I hope I find it...in the meantime its a good thing I keep a USB charger in my car.

Awesome contest. It made me realize that with my now shorted Ego, all I have is my 510's. not feeling so safe anymore. I have won a couple of charge cases, but all were passed on to other people. This would rock and give me a backup (or a new daily with my 510's as a backup). Good luck to all on this contest.

Although not explicitly stated, please do not view my original post as an entry. I just got 10 510 batts from GoodProphets (who has batts for 6$ and carto's for 6$ (which vape very well btw) to quell my fear and will building a VV soon (so I can show it off in vegas). I love the idea of giving to people that cant afford to "feel secure" because of their situation.

as noted by the wise posters in this thread...one month of juice in the back of that tacobell sauce bin in your fridge and if you can at least a simple 510 or ego battery (mad vapes 10$) as a reserve just in case.

OK, Here I am all happy with my two Cig2o 808 bats and a sample pack of juice from FSUSA and you had to say something about a charger dieing! )))))Shudder(((( Ackkkkkkkk I'm only a week off cigs! Crap I never thought about breaking the charger, I was cool with two batteries....I mean I could hold out with one while I waited for another to come in the mail....Ok I'm lying, the thought of equipment failure never occurred to me! Now I'm horrified at the thought of something breaking and it's what at least three days to get a replacement by mail. Crap! I won't sleep tonight! I have no backup to my suddenly frighteningly small arsenal of vaping gear. I would have been a horrible boyscout, obviously I am not prepared!

My running cost, 6 ml/day and carto change every four days, is about $1.20/day (DIY eliquid costs little). Add in hardware replacement $ and it's still right about $2/day now. I had been running a little higher until I switched to a mod -- standard batteries (Riva, 808,...) just plain tended to have issues for me over time. The mod, while more $ as a one-time buy, has simply been rock solid, though I still certainly keep backup HW.

I wish a carto would last me 4 days! The dual coils seemed to be ok for about 3 days, but still. If I can get an atty to go for only 15 days, I'll still be saving money over buying cartos and this is my goal. You know, more money for MODS! :p

Entries so far:

I currently only have my starter kit I got from V2Cigs... 2 batteries and some cartomizers I have been refilling...
I honestly cannot believe the generosity of everyone here in the PIF, what a freaking awesome place

I have no backup and I am actually about to lose my CHUCK.I have none of my batteries from my DSE-901 starter kit left, they got ruined and I have to send my chuck in for a button repair and will be without for a week, hopefully only a week. I have two batteries for it and a 10 buck charger that doesn't like to work if it isn't wrapped with a rubber band. thank you for being so awesome my fellow pif members.

I was going to enter this contest as I only have my 3.7v Foxy Box mod left to me, my son got my FS eGo set when I got my box mod. It got him to quit cigs so I didn't mind. I won a FS510 kit in one of Randall's contests but I gifted my wife with that and she won't even let me have the extra batt! After reading mfraz25's post though I think she's in much more dire straits than I, if my box mod went down altogether I think I could talk my wife into letting me borrow a batt till I could get something else.

Thanks marcielynn for your generosity and all the other wonderful people on ECF for their kindness.

I only have an ego-t pass 1000mah with egot tank system. The standard atty that came with it but now xtra batt, so if anything dies i'm up sc without a paddle ( and thats not good when theres a bottle of coconut twist in front of me)!!

I only have my wonderful Riva, but I've already gone down to only one battery because I'm waiting for the company to replace my second battery that was under warranty when it died. :( I've been out several times now when my battery has died and I've had no backup. I would love to win so that I don't have that problem anymore, especially since I'll be in school full-time next month. :)

Well, I use a go-go... I have the two batteries that came with the kit :)
My husband has three V4L batteries... 2 used to be mine....
We both started with V2 but gave them to Mom-in-Law... So, we have NO backups here..

But regardless if we win or not... as soon as we find a new place to live (we have to move ASAP) we are ordering some batteries!!!

Good luck to everyone, and thank you for such a generous contest!!!

Firstly thank you marcilynne for this!

I have an ego kit (2 batteries, one charger), but no backups if my batteries go kaput that's it. I gave my 510 I had to my fiance up in Canada, I didn't really think about having a backup. On a fixed income though I realize how stupid that probably was. My generosity and wanting him to be healthier got in the way of logic! I have one LR atty for it, the others kicked it, and only one tank for that atty if something were to happen to all my cartos. And I'm not tech savvy enough to make my own mod lol. If my batteries were to die now, I'd be up the creek until the first, and hopefully my budget would include being able ot get new batteries.

All of my back ups are dead i use a home made vv with 2 18650s 510 thread it stoped working last night so i was uplaye making it work last time the board died i had to rip it apart and hook one 18650 up to the atty and to vap i would just touch the wite to the positive side made me sad

Hello all, first off thanks to everyone here at ECF who is able to PIF with newbies like me who is still getting the hang of things. So, I have a Riva 510 kit that I love but one of my batteries bit the dust yesterday and currently I am low on funding to where I cannot buy another battery for another 4-6 weeks. I only have the one Riva battery left that came with the kit and one charger for it as I've not had an extra money in the past few weeks to buy a backup kit. Hopefully, luck will find me and I'll be able to get a battery soon but for now praying for God's mercy with this current battery to hold out well for me or else the over generous analog users in my office may become my best friend. Thank you all so much and God bless all of you for doing so much good, that's the reason I'm on this site more than any other. Lots of love, Wyatt Derp.

BTW: E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings and use the 20% off button on the top left hand corner of your screen (or TV if you use that as a monitor, if you don't have a monitor you won't see it) and get that percentage taken off your kit. They have Joye 510 kits as low as $35.99 with discount with MANUAL batteries and Riva 510 kits (True 3.7v kits) for $29.99 and up.

This is an awesome contest. All I have is my ego-t starter kit and it's about 3 months old now so I'm waiting on one or both batteries to crap out.

i'm new to vaping and am quite aware from all of the wonderful folks here at ECF that backups are essential. unfortunately, i have my Echo starter kit and that's it. if anything were to go wrong, i'd go into full sad panda mode. this would be me.

sad-panda-podiatrist.jpg

Little by little my batts have been given away or are dying off. Now, all I have left is my 1st gen Volcano Inferno PT. It's a trooper, but as I am currently unemployed, I'm worried as to what happens if it dies out. I used to have a ton of Magma (510) equipment, but I gave them all to my father-in-law to help him make the switch. Winning this contest would be AWESOME! Anyway, good luck to all. Thanks.

EDIT: Update - My daughter made away with my e-cig while I was out and my wife has no idea where she put it. So I am now down to NOTHING. :(

I'm not sure if this counts as an entry. All I have is my Kr808D-1 "set" which I built from buying from different suppliers. I keep the two batteries I have in a carrying case and my USB charger in my pocket. That's all, I guess if one of my batteries die I have one battery left but if I lose my charger... Let's not think on that. So I guess if this counts as an entry, please count it. Thanks.

I don't know about deals but I know that at LiteCig a 280 mAh kr808D-1 battery is only $9.95 (manual or auto)

Would I fit into this contest.I have a Riva kit that came with two batteries. This past weekend I gave my brother one of the batteries a charger, map tank, and a box of Boge cartomizers.Plus 60ml of juice various kinds and ml's.I knew at the time I would be hurting if something goes wrong with my other battery or charger, but having him get off analog's was more important to me then keeping it for myself. What can I say I love the boy.So I have one battery and one charger.I do have plenty of juice though lol.If I don't qualify for this then thank you any way for what you are doing.

BreezEsmokes has good deals all the time.He has a KGO 1100mah kit for $39.99.....

Just have my starter Kr808 kit...The volt from smokeless image o_O Thanks for the contest :)

I personally am fine have an ego t and a GLV3 I am waiting on, so the ego will become my backup. I would like to submit one of my crew chiefs though ( I am an ah64 pilot deployed to Afghanistan a crew chief fixes my helicopter for those who don't know). He is a E4 aka a specialist in the army and bought a blu. After giving him my 2 blu batteries and the 2 with his kit he is down to 1 working battery. Horrible product that it is he has quite analogs. The biggest reason I would request this for him is that as a lower enlisted army solider he makes almost nothing IMO, and secondly being deployed it is a pain to get anything here.

took me a month to budget a starter kit into my very limited income....if anything keels over early it will be back to newports :/
but these look like so much more than backups to me :)

I have a 510 I bought local a few months back. I am down to one atty and a week or so of liquid left. I will have to do something like this after I drop bills at vapefest, get home, and realize that I have way too much stuff! This was a beautifully thought out and inspiring "contest". I think there should be a permanant co-op for carto's and generic stuff like ego batts. I bet we could do well getting an order up.

As an update, I found the battery my little one hid! I've been vaping from it like mad! Came really close to buying a pack of analogs, but thankfully I didn't. So I am back to a single Inferno PT. You guys are amazing for doing this and I don't envy the job of deciding who wins.

We usually let Random.org pick the winners of our contests, or my 2 year old , but we're voting on this one. No, it's not an easy choice at all.

I really hope this contest has raised awareness of how important it is to have a back up PV. Seriously guys, find the $20 or less to buy at least an eGo PT or SOMETHING to use as back up...you'd spend that $20 on smokes really quickly and the back up is going to last a whole lot longer and we all know it's much better for us to vape than smoke.

I spent my weekly vape budget on a variety of juices today and I'm having a little remorse that I didn't get a backup PV instead... I was going back and forth and I guess juice is more important than a backup... I don't know, I figure if I don't like some of the juices (which is bound to happen) I can PIF or swap...
My question is this, I have two friends who will soon be vaping, should I have them get a small supply of juices first or a backup? Which do you think is more important for a newbie?

I would say a back up. When I started out I wish I had a back up. Had 4 901 auto batteries and a pt that all died in a month.
