I'm building at a .28-.30 and I get white buildup which I need to sand gently as directed with a file daily almost every battery change repeat with a dab of noalox on the contact and it start working again. Eventually the daily sanding weakens the contact and it breaks off. Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here.
I have no clue what I'm doing wrong?

Slow presses make it worse, use fast press and faster release.
Also even at low sub ohms most report only having to clean contacts weekly. Make sure you are using enough noalox on the contacts also try putting a dab on the battery with each change.

This, if your contact and spring are/were gold colored. If they were, time to order new contact at least, or send it in to Robert for a makeover. Though a bit more pricey than noalox, deoxit gold seems to work much better for me.
I just cleaned my contact and batteries last night, I used one of those white staedler erasers and it worked like a dream

I ask because i'm a renowned button-masher and the tendency when it will not fire is of course to press harder until it does! I no longer use button covers because of this.
I run coils at the same level as you do. Unfortunately, the facts are that whatever mod you use is going to need more frequent cleaning because of this. I use Deoxit on my battery contacts. I do all of them at one time and then forget about them for a month or two. I like that it's less messy than Noalox. But it's expensive.
Then i use Noalox on my firing pin only and i put a good splodge on there when it's clean.
After a day's use or maybe 2 days, i just wipe off the old Noalox and re-apply it. I find it dries out and becomes crumbly after that time. Once a week, i thoroughly clean the Reo in the sink and so on.
Intermittent firing is always cured with one or all of the above, so being idle, i usually start with the easiest and go from there.

Speaking of firing pin, I notice that if I use a button cover, it'll always come with battery arcing. But if I remove the button cover, the arcing is less or even gone. I have problems with my Reo from last year not firing at all or firing sometime but not another with button cover on--probably because of how I hold it and my hand is small. I don't use button cover anymore with the Reo I just received.
The scary thing was how hard i could press a button with a cover on top. Far harder than any device needs to fire.
In my early days with a Reo, button-mashing was occurring because i'd been slack cleaning it - simple as that. The general advice is something like 'hold the atty to your ear and press the fire button until you hear it hiss', nothing more. I'd add to that - make sure the airhole is not pointing at your ear!

Be aware that sometimes, the button covers can slide down too far on the firing button, and when that happens, you can get intermittent or NO firing at all. The fix, although you said you're no longer using them, is to insert something inside the button cover, to keep it from traveling down too far.
This is my 2nd order for a gold pin. It's in the mail. I don't know why the mail takes almost 2 weeks though. Ugh... Thank you for that though. Good to know not to sand but I have to do something because the white crud which builds up literally daily almost every battery change makes contact with the pin/battery non existent.
I have tried dabbing only on the contact only on the contact and spring only on the battery top on the battery on both ends on the battery both ends the contact and the spring I have literally gone crazy with the noalox. I'm not sure if this is my problem. I have no clue. Maybe I'm just building too low? Maybe it's because I'm not using button tops? It's terribly frustrating because I love my Reo to death but this pin issue is going to be the end of me.
Thanks for this, yes they were gold and I did place an order for a new set. Still not sure what the actual problem causing the white crud/crappy connection is though.
My pin is literally breaking off where it curls so the part of the curl that goes like a "U" shape falls off. I may try to take the button cover off. Perhaps this is a cure to some of the problem. I don't mash it as soon as I hear it I stop. In fact since my first broken pin I have been paranoid about mashing and know when it's being compressed farther than it should be. The white stuff and bad connection what is the problem????

What a waste of money.. yet another contact is ruined. This time I made sure to use noalox, erase pitting, not press to hard. I think this is the end of me and my reo.
stardust - I think I read somewhere that you were using flat tops... Please try a button top AW battery.
All batteries arc... its just in a grand you can see it a whole lot better. Erase your contact and add a drop of deoxit on the contact. don't worry about wiping it off. Spread a drop of deoxit on the top layer of the spring and a thin coat on each end of the battery. Do not wipe off the excess. Put the battery back in and enjoy.
If you are still having problems after the above procedure, with an AW button top, then just give Rob a call. The guy knows his mod up down and sideways and he may have a suggestion of what to do.
Almost last resort...send it in to Rob and he will make it right. It will be all brand new under the hood when he is done with it.
Final last resort... Send it to the home for wayward Reos. It is in Phoenix...let me know if you need me to PM the address
youll get it taken care of before you reach that point, I am sure.

I'd would suggest to use new batteries with the new contact as the possitive ends of the batteries are problably all pitted up causing arching even with new contacts as its not making a solid connection.
Is the mod the newer version with the new stain less steel contact? If not it will be much harder to install the new contact..
I've installed the newer 510 sub ohm pin and contact and it always leaked at the pin connection cause I stripped the threads on the pin. Did fine on the 2nd attempt. Then eventually sent it in last week and got the new ss 510 installed so now in the future it will be easy to change the possitive contact.

You are right, I am using flat tops. I am just about done for real this time, despite how much I love my Reo and vaping in general... I've found a great mod (when it's not malfunctioning and I have found an absolutely divine juice flavor. But I just received my new pin and button this week and had been using an old box and dripper of my boyfriends as well as leftover old juice (he works for an ecig shipping company so he gets to bring home all the samples companies send so I had resorted to using them and not paying for my favorite juice. When my Reo parts arrived 3 days ago I told him to grab me a bottle of my favorite juice. The parts didn't even last it through my juice bottle. I am so upset I rarely vape with the box and RDA dripper especially this past time when I was using juices that weren't especially amazing that I was ready to call it quits this time and just stop despite how much I love my Reo. I'll give it one last try, since you do have some suggestions and I do love the damn thing. I just want it to work

I do add noalox (not sure if same thing as deoxit) to the top pin, as well each battery I rub the tops clean and add a fresh dab of noalox on the top. I also add a bit to the bottom spring but not each time. Since I already do this I can't think of anything else other than the battery type and that would be changing to a button top instead of a flat top which I've been using. Do you have any recommendations for button tops that will work with the type of builds I like? ex. .3-.4ohm coils? Thanks
You may be onto something with the pitting. Despite using noalox and using the eraser and wiping the top each time there is some "burned" in marks. I am assuming this is what you are talking about when you refer to pitting?
The Reo is the new version with the sub ohm gold hardware but not the updated 510 connection.
I am planning on getting new button top variety batteries. Any suggestions for ones that work with builds ranging between .3-.4

AW IMR 1600 mAh. Would be good for you. They will handle your Sub-ohm builds. The button tops will make the throw of the firing contact shorter. So you will not have to push the button down as much.
Over time the old style 510 connection's gaskets(on the 510 pin) can get worn and have little to no spring back, especially when taking attys on and off all the time as I do. If this happens it can cause an intermittent connection between your mods 510 to the 510 of your atty. When this happens you will see a lot more arcing between the top of your battery and your firing pin and will probably notice your mods not hitting as hard as your accustomed to. You can clean your firing pin and battery tops and nalox all the day long, it won't matter until the root problem is taken care of IMO. The only way I know to correct this is with a rebuild kit with new gaskets or convert reo to new 510 connection, if in fact this is what is causing your problem. I've had this same problem with 2 of my grands and after checking voltage drop with inline voltmeter, realized what the problem was and had to use repair kits to fix the problem.
