A buddy of mine wants to sell me his mechanical mod that he got from Mapvape. $20 for the mod, 2 sony batts and a charger!!!!! I've already said I would switch to the Vamo5 if I stuck v vaping so I would at least have the batteries and charger. Is mechanical the way to go the first go round or should I go w a V V? Which tank should I go with using a mechanical mod. Adjustable air flow? Should I splurge on the Nautilus? Is there a nautilus mini out that I'm just not aware of?

I don't know what you have, as far as the mech. However, if those are authentic Sony batts (which ones did you get?) and a good charger, those right there cost about $40 alone for new ($20 batts, $20+ for a charger). So, even if the mech is not your thing, you've likely got a good start with the batteries you need for the Vamo. I will defer to others as far as a tank suggestion, since I don't use those. Good luck, hopefully a good buy for you!

With out knowing the mech it would be hard to recommend a tank. There are differences between what madvapes sells. If it's the bolt its not a true mech and I would recommend a cartomizer tank with a 2.0 carto as they seem to work very well. If its a true mech you will probably prefer something like the nautilus you were mentioning.

In all honesty a mech isn't designed to be a beginner device. They do have a learning curve. Also find out the which sony's as knowing down the road or if you are going to rebuildable right away knowing is essential. Lastly which charger. There is a huge difference between bad, okay, good and great when it comes to batteries and what they are charged on.

don't know what type mod this is. but at that price if it actually works you would be hard pressed to find a better deal as a try it before you spend serious money on a style of mod. i use mech's exclusively and love the whooompf of a fresh battery and new cotton. yummy!

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I figured I was coming out ahead with the Sony's and charger.

Yes it's the bolt. They have it listed under semi-mech's. Is the protank 2 a better choice?

I would suggest grabbing up that deal just for the batteries, if they are legit Sony batteries. That cost alone is better than what I bought 2 Sony VTC4s for just the other day.

Then get a kick so that it is regulated.

So, that's what the kick is for? Right now I'm enjoying the MVP2 and Vamo5, with RDAs attached. I've been wondering about taking the next step up to mechs, but was a bit leery about not having that feature. Guess I'll have to rethink things.

Yeah, a kick makes your mech into basically a regulated device. The kick 1 (the one I have) goes up to 12 watts, and the kick2 goes up to I think 15Watts. You just set it to whatever wattage you want to vape at, put it into the tube on top of the battery, reassemble and vape away. It's what made my transition to a mech alot smoother:vapor:

That is a Kick module. They insert into the mod between the battery and the top electrical pin with the white dial facing AWAY from the battery. The white dial allows you to set a wattage setting between 5 and 10 watts (12 watts if it's a Smoktech clone). It will then maintain that wattage output. That's very important when using an over-the-counter topper like a Cartotank because sometimes the standard 3.7 volts just isn't enough power for the coils, and it prevents the power dropping (weaker vape) as the charge is depleted.

The Kick also acts as a safety device which is important if you get a bad coil or a short. It will protect your battery, and you.

The Kick will not fire if the coil resistance is less than 1.0 ohm.
The Kick will not fire if the amp draw exceeds 5A. (6A for the Smoktech Clone)
The Kick will not fire if the battery voltage drops below 3.2V.

Kick modules run about $15 or so.

The Kick2 is the same as the Kick, except it will go up to 15 watts, will go as low as 0.5ohm coils, and will allow up to 6 Amps. Kick 2 costs about $45.

If you're not subohm vaping then the standard Kick will be all you will need.

Yes, I'm a female (not sure if a "lady" lol but definitely a woman ;)). And yes, you're welcome. If they're legit products, and handled with care by your buddy, you've got a deal. Don't know about the mod itself (meh, IMHO), you're probably better off getting a mod that's suits your needs first (something fully regulated, VV/VW etc. to use those batteries), and set the mech aside for later experience (JMHO, learn your "vape" style and how stuff works first, then gain experience and knowledge for the mechs worked best for me).
