Yep...wifey vapes zero nic now. Does fine for her. PG (Propylene Glycol AKA: the base that most juices are made of) has been shown to increase weight gain. While the wife has managed to lose weight while vaping I have packed on a good 20lbs since I started. Happened gradual enough that I only noticed this last weekend. Everyone's results vary. Some will say "You don't smoke! You shouldn't vape!" and blah blah blah...enjoying things in life ain't always safe. Take some time to research and learn as much as you can. vaping may not be the correct answer to your question.

I haven't smoked in 25 years, but I'm intrigued. I don't want the nicotine, but I think that e-smoking 0mg Nicotine with flavors might keep me from craving sweets. Does anyone have that experience?

Pink, kuddos on 25 Years! Wow!! I vape cuz I can't smoke anymore for health reasons, "duh" that was stupid, guess that is why most quit. :) But can be as consuming, and the total health effects are still an unknown. Better than cigs for sure, but totally safe ? Not enough studies to know. Just sayin, research before you make your decision. Best of Luck to you..what ever you decide.

Hi-[ No brag] had seen what you wrote, and as i started vaping since he has, but my reasoning is so i don't pick up something to eat.
I have trying to lose weight and i just love the flavors, i really like the coffee, waffles, i use the menthol as it helps my sinus, i have a few others that i like and it has helped to keep my mind off of FOOD, and especially Chocolate. The Double Chocolate with Bavarium cream is to die for and is helpful top me. Well i just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one to use and not be a smoker, id like to chat anytime- Have a Great Day--Lonerstar

But, since you have been a smoker, I really feel there are some differences. Most people who have quit say that they have to tell themselves no, everyday. To me, that's not a fun life. I agree with Jonny, enjoy life. If you could get a better quality of life from avoiding the "past smoker's" struggle, it could be beneficial.

I don't know about the avoiding sweets thing though. The craving killer that I've always used was to eat a little sugar or salt. Actually, it was more like a teaspoon of Nestle Quick, then my sweet craving was over, for a mere 20 calories. I will say that my water intake has increased since I started vaping, which has helped to keep my belly a little more full too.

Everybody is free to make their own decisions . . . don't take any of our advice. Find out about vaping, then take your own advice. :)

I like your point here. I've quit smoking many many times. But I was ALWAYS addicted to the idea of it. I even went 3 years without a cig, and started back up like it was nothing. I agree that the e-cig can offer some quality of life back-- get all of the benefits of smoking, with few negatives.

Once a _____, always a ____. Whether it be smoking, alcohol, etc . . . I think that's where the line is. I would never suggest a non-smoker to even start vaping 0 nic, just because . . . why start something that has possibilities of becoming more. But somebody that has smoked might be struggling everyday. I hate to see that. Addiction sucks!

Really? That's the first I've heard that. Where can I found out more? Does VG not have this effect?

Haven't researched it recently. This was a subject I ran across a while back during my initial research on ecigs through this forum and another popular forum. That was a while back and includes people's own experiences...so consideration should be made for that. Additionally, questions about PG tend to cite the initial lab testing done back in the 1940's and if I remember correctly there was a correlation with weight gain and PG in experiments. Additionally...considering I'm on a strict diet for liver issues and gout, and haven't changed my eating habit in almost 2 years (in fact, I stopped snacking since I started vaping more heavily), my own personal experience seems to agree as well. When I graduated from "casual electronic cigarette user" to a 7-10ml/day "vaper" I packed on over 20lbs in just over a few months. Other people have posted similar results. Some people report losing weight. In fact, now that I think about it, I lost around 10lbs when I first started (ouch...that means I've gained a total of 30lbs...LOL).

For the moment, I don't know what to do. I eat a standard 3 meals a day. Almost no snacks anymore. Plenty of water. Even sugar is cut out of my daily coffee. Still gaining weight. I suppose I could try hitting the Wii Fit harder...LOL
