my 2 cents worth ;) - a patent search alone will eat up that 1200 and your still no farther ahead. even "if" this product is patentable ,you will need to apply for patents in every country of use.

imho -in this market a firstblood approach is needed. I would go to your local stationary store (or online) and buy a "disclosure agreement".it cost me 2.00 :D,then make numerous copies of it. the disclosure agreement, is a simple document that you have a person sign. It binds them legally, it basically says, yes i recognize this is your idea and i will not disclose this idea to anyone else or copy it or try to sell it without your consent. This allows you to show your product for feedback or to potential investors. etc.
heck, i bought a copy of a disclosure agreement for my "intellectual property law attorney" (you know they like being called that, instead of a patent attorney. makes them feel soo special :rolleyes:heheh) . good luck
