I just got a GGTS but can't vape with it.

I got the Optim Engineering CBA III battery tester and have been playing with it.

I also got two AW LiFePo4 500mAh batteries from LightHound to compare against the Tenergy LiFePo4 750mAh batteries.

Both batteries were put on the CBA III straight off the WF-138 charger.

Maybe I got some bad AW's, but on these particular batteries I think I'll stick with the Tenergy.

Each battery technology has it's advantages/limits. AW may be able to squeeze a little more out of each than the lower priced TF and UF, resulting in higher/better C ratings (which are used to determine Max discharge rates).

But I don't believe AW can achieve an almost 12X higher C rating than Tenergy with the same LiPO technology.

AW's expensive Li-Ion's C ratings have shown in tests to be higher than most UltraFires, but by a factor of maybe 20%.

That said it does appear that the Tenergy 3V LiPO's can't quite deliver the goods (current) in low ohm, high demand situations.

Here's a test posted by a member (sorry I can't remember his name). These are two freshly charged Tenergy LiPO's (about 7+V) firing a Joye 2.1Ω Joye atty. What you see are some actual loaded (vaping) volts.

Some Tenergy specs.
  • Working Voltage:3.2V and Peak Voltage: 3.6V
  • Charging cut-off voltage: 3.6V
  • Maximum discharging rate:< 550 mA

That's a pretty steep hit. It would appear that the Tenergy's are maxed out at about 2.5A which is about 2.3X their individual rated discharge of < 550mA. True 6V would need about 2.9A.

Food for thought.

I'm guessing the "rated" discharge rate is the "suggested" max discharge....obviously they output much more.

The guy at AW doesn't seem to want to talk about the performance differences and in fact told me if I thought Tenergy LiFePo4's were better, then use Tenergy. Oooook, I will :) Thanks for your wonderful assistance Mr. AW. (Keep in mind the li-ion and LiMN batteries have tested out with great results...my only complaint is their LiFePo4 123A cells)

Rob,
I agree. AW's lifepo4 123a's dont seem to be up to par with Tenergy Lifepo4. So far, the best lifepo4 123a battery is Tenergy.

Funny how the AW guy just brushed it off.....
