There have been posts here from people saying they've knocked a Vamo over on a table and it broke. I know I expected the threads on mine not to last long, based on how difficult it was to screw the pieces together.

This is Chinese hardware we're talking about here, so there's going to be a wide variation in how durable one is compared to the next one. We know the testing done on them isn't very stringent, though, or you wouldn't be seeing recalls for things like over-resistant battery springs.

So yours may last a good long time. Or maybe it won't.

The problems I have had have all been due to abuse...I droped mine way too much..right now Im haveing a issue with the O Ring around the pin...most likely caused by torquing down a VIVI Nove tank too much and too often....and Ive only had it 3 weeks...but it has lasted longer than every other mod, except the Omeaga in my care.....It is electronic and if abused..stuff breaks...drop your TV a few times...spill coffee on your key board....same with the vamo or any other mod...with resonable care no problems..

I break stuff...even contractor grade power tools....I think the vamo is great....I ordered a replacement one that should be here sat...If I treat it with moderate care I dont think ill have any problems with it.

I've just had mine for four days but I'm very impressed. I might buy a carbon fiber wrap from J-Wraps because I want this to be black. I dunno but at the price, if it lasts a year that's not too bad. But I think it will go longer unless I start dropping it on cement etc. I took right to the VW. It's a bargain and I use it right beside my Provari which is SS. I wanted a black mod to put a black Vivi Nova on. It's right long but I feel I can use it for drumsticks occasionally. Or a pool cue.

well one person dropped it ten feet off a ladder and put it back together and worked fine, while another dropped it 2 feet and it stopped working. i took the head off with channel lock pliers and it shot the head and board across the room, after reassembly it still works, it is what it is, electronics - same as a phone, one guy bounces his daily with no problem while the next guy drops it once and it dies so mileage may vary but they seem fairly tough.

I think it depends to a certain extent on how a person takes care of their equipment. If you're someone who is mindful of how you handle your equipment, I'm willing to bet it will last at least until you're in a position to get a provari. If it last any longer, you'll have a nice backup device. :) That's all you really need it to do correct? The manufacturing? Meh, it's on par with the cost and the cost balances out the equation...besides, I don't see it failing any sooner that any of the other plethora of mass produced pv's out there...Lava Tube, zmax, etc.

Its a cheap product you just are not going to get consistent quality for less money. Roll the dice and hope you get a good one. I have one I got threw a coop here and seems to be working ok. Im not a good judge of longevity I use something once or twice a month for a day. Then switch to something else so its going to take awhile before I wear something out.

I put Noalox on the threads and they are smooth as silk.

Just got the vamo in the mail today and the weight of it is similar to my provari. I wouldn't want to drop the vamo since its made of so many screw on pieces.

My vamo v2 SS had the fire button that felt as it moved the board when compressed, so as a fix I wrapped my 16850 battery for less play. Long story short. Vamo passed all abuse test! Believe me I put it to the test during the peak of my rage when the battery got stuck and I completely forgot it unscrews for short mode like an idiot.

You can replace that oring. go to the local hardware store, and get a #60 1/4 " O.D. x 1/8 " I.D. x 1/16", o ring. Take a precision screwdriver (flat tip) and tilt up the pin, slip the old ring off, (it make take a bit, sometimes they are caught in there pretty good. Take the replacement, cut it in half, tilt the pin up, slide half of it under, tilt the other side, and slide the other half on. I just did this like 30 min ago, and mine works great.
