I have heard good things about this community and I decided I wanted to be a part of it. I have been vaping for a little over five years. I started off with little vape pens, then moved to the Innokin Endura, and for the last 3 years I have been utilizing higher wattage sub-ohm setups. However, recently I have really had a desire to get back into a lower wattage and MTL style vaping. But after years of using 3mg nic with 60 - 70 watts, I am a little unsure of how to proceed with the all of the new lower wattage options out there. Also, I have recently become interested in trying DIY eliquid and maybe even getting into rebuildables.
I will probably buy a Zlide now to get back into MTL, then I am looking to grab some RTA tanks.
Not saying you should stick with 3mg necessarily (but you could try it), but you could try say 6-8mg and see how that goes for a few days to a week or so. The less nic you consume, the less nic base you have to buy and store for the vapocalypse (aka the USA vaping prohibition).
Hello. Hard to say what nic will work for you when you back to an MTL setup, everybody's different and has specific nic requirements. I have a few guesses about what might work for you though, based on my own nic usage. I vape both sub-ohm 50-70W and I also vape MTL on lower wattage, 13-25W, depending on the device I use. At 50-70W I currently use 8-11mg freebase nic. And I'm perfectly fine with 15-18mg freebase nic and 20mg salts for MTL, so I agree with what
@UncleJunkle wrote- you probably don't need to raise your nic too high. 3mg nic for sub-ohm vaping is way too low for me, so if you are ok with it, then 6-9mg should probably be fine for your MTL, or 10mg nic salts. You won't get much throat hit though from nic salts, even the 20mg I use are smooth, compared to freebase. But I doubt, after all these years of sub-ohm vaping, that you are really after the throat hit and replicating smoking sensation. IMO, nic salts hit you differently, and taste slighty different also. Pleasant- I'd say yes. You gotta try and see for yourself though.
As to MTL RTA's- definitely worth a shot. I've recently bought the first version of Vandy Vape Berserker Mini MTL RTA- I'm super happy with it. Flavor is great, building/wicking is really not a big deal if you use pre-made coils. I was also using Innokin Endura T22e, I still use it. If you liked the tight airflow on Endura, you'd also like that Berserker tank. Mine was a bargain when I bought it. Coils and wick are super cheap so running an RTA is definitely the most cost-effective option. There were two more versions of berserker mini, V1.5 and V2, I haven't used these though.
I'm thinking about the Zlide though to have another normal MTL tank. I've heard really good things about it ad saw good reviews.
Innokin released new MTL RTA recently, Ares 2, that one is certainly worth looking into as well. They actually have a giveaway, I can tag you there.
