Redbird, I am late to the welcoming but I hope we can be of some help. I'd try to help but I've made so many mistakes that I had to get a PO Box for deliveries, Mrs CMD was starting to question my sanity.

I have been a Cards fan since Stan the Man Musial was playing in the early fifties; we were both lefties. He and Ted Williams, wow.

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/members/showmetwice.287295/, beat me to the Pico recommendation. They are available here and there on sale for under $30. I have about 10 that I've picked up on sale and I carry one most of the time. They also make good backup mods for the unknowns associated with the FDA right now. You can never have too many mods and tanks.

Totally agree with everything @Brewdawg1181 said on the Colossal's. I have several and they are one of my favorite single 18650 mods. They're tough too. My dog has sent them flying off tables with her tail. The cat likes to knock mods over for fun, freaking cat. They just work.

I have a few Solo's and they are seriously tough mods. Not pocket friendly though. Unless you're wearing like cargo pants.

Another solid option is the Eleaf Pico 75W single 18650. Those have a very loyal following here. And they can take a beating. The wife used to drop hers all the time. Still worked fine. If you get one I would advise upgrading it with the Arctic Fox firmware. AF brings its performance up to nearly that of a Evolv DNA chip.

All of those do TC really well too (provided Pico has AF).

Good luck!
Yeah, Pico 75's are a good choice. I've got a couple of those. They're small and very popular. But I don't think they're made nearly as well as Colossal...or even the Solo, for that matter. And some have had the display issue. But I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of them.

Out of the 3 though, I think the Colossal just hits the best. Even better on the boost mode. Solo is no slouch in that dept. either- super fast and a good hit. But Pico just seems a little slower for some reason. A shame, because I do like the size & shape.

I have heard good things about this community and I decided I wanted to be a part of it. I have been vaping for a little over five years. I started off with little vape pens, then moved to the Innokin Endura, and for the last 3 years I have been utilizing higher wattage sub-ohm setups. However, recently I have really had a desire to get back into a lower wattage and MTL style vaping. But after years of using 3mg nic with 60 - 70 watts, I am a little unsure of how to proceed with the all of the new lower wattage options out there. Also, I have recently become interested in trying DIY eliquid and maybe even getting into rebuildables.

I will probably buy a Zlide now to get back into MTL, then I am looking to grab some RTA tanks.

Not saying you should stick with 3mg necessarily (but you could try it), but you could try say 6-8mg and see how that goes for a few days to a week or so. The less nic you consume, the less nic base you have to buy and store for the vapocalypse (aka the USA vaping prohibition).

Hello. Hard to say what nic will work for you when you back to an MTL setup, everybody's different and has specific nic requirements. I have a few guesses about what might work for you though, based on my own nic usage. I vape both sub-ohm 50-70W and I also vape MTL on lower wattage, 13-25W, depending on the device I use. At 50-70W I currently use 8-11mg freebase nic. And I'm perfectly fine with 15-18mg freebase nic and 20mg salts for MTL, so I agree with what @UncleJunkle wrote- you probably don't need to raise your nic too high. 3mg nic for sub-ohm vaping is way too low for me, so if you are ok with it, then 6-9mg should probably be fine for your MTL, or 10mg nic salts. You won't get much throat hit though from nic salts, even the 20mg I use are smooth, compared to freebase. But I doubt, after all these years of sub-ohm vaping, that you are really after the throat hit and replicating smoking sensation. IMO, nic salts hit you differently, and taste slighty different also. Pleasant- I'd say yes. You gotta try and see for yourself though.

As to MTL RTA's- definitely worth a shot. I've recently bought the first version of Vandy Vape Berserker Mini MTL RTA- I'm super happy with it. Flavor is great, building/wicking is really not a big deal if you use pre-made coils. I was also using Innokin Endura T22e, I still use it. If you liked the tight airflow on Endura, you'd also like that Berserker tank. Mine was a bargain when I bought it. Coils and wick are super cheap so running an RTA is definitely the most cost-effective option. There were two more versions of berserker mini, V1.5 and V2, I haven't used these though.
I'm thinking about the Zlide though to have another normal MTL tank. I've heard really good things about it ad saw good reviews.
Innokin released new MTL RTA recently, Ares 2, that one is certainly worth looking into as well. They actually have a giveaway, I can tag you there.

I just noticed you already made your way there :D
Yeah I headed over to the Innokin board to read up on some past reviews and noticed the giveaway. The Ares 2 looks like it could be a good choice. I just got the Uwell Caliburn a couple of days ago which was the first MTL vaping I had done in a long time. It was actually pretty enjoyable for a little pod device. I don't think I will get into a habit of using nic salts regularly, but I did like how smooth it vaped. I did go ahead and place an order for the Zlide tank after using the Caliburn for a couple of days.

Anyways, while I have been vaping for quite some time, I would hardly call myself an expert. This is one reason I decided to join up. I figured this would be a good place to acquire some knowledge, ask questions, and gather opinions from from a group of people who knows their stuff.

I am going to conclude my introduction now because it is 5 in the morning and I am pretty sure I am just rambling on in a sleepy haze at this point. Thanks for reading and looking forward to being a part of this community.

Welcome Redbird ! Hope you'll enjoy your new MTL style !
