I keep getting hot spots no matter what I do

This is seriously bothering me. I've been using RDAs for months now. I'd get the occasional hot spot here and there but I'd just rebuild my coils and life would be dandy again. Now no matter what I do I get hot spots. I've tried different RDAs and different kanthal and even nichrome. I've tried strumming my coils with a screwdriver and it makes no difference. I just can't figure out why I was able to build coils before and suddenly I can't. I spent 3 hours and at least 12 coils worth of kanthal last night. I'm stuck using my Aspire Atlantis tank for now because I can't seem to build coils. Can anybody tell me what causes hot spots or another way to fix them? I make sure the screws are tight. Please somebody help me.

What does this mean? Heat it with a touch before wrapping? If so, yes I am.

do you get hot spots at random spots or do you tend to get a hotleg on the wire going to the positive post?

compact coil or spaced coil?

do you notice the hotspots while dryburning or does the hotspot problem only happen after wicking

are you using mesh?

I do compact coils. I get the hot spots in the middle of the coil, not the legs. When dry burning the coils look and burn beautifully. After I wick and juice it up is when I get the hotspots. I'm just using regular organic cotton.

Are you making big coils like 5mm internal diameter?? When the cotton gets wet it loses fluff and can sink down away from the coil

first pic looks like one coil is firing hotter than the other.

second pic looks like dryburn? no wick?

Not seeing anything I would call a hotspot.

Yeah the first picture is with a wick and only one coil has a hot spot. The second picture is the same coils dryburning nice and evenly. But when I wick them again I get the same results as picture 1.
