Well, dang! I often check the battery level without a topper. I need to know if the battery came off the charger fully charged or something's wonky. I imagine the instruction is because the ProVari fires to get a reading, but I don't hold the Cb button down for very long and I suspect it may not really fire anyway. I think it's just a precaution.
Blemini Cricket is almost a year old and has given no indication she feels abused. Accordingly, I shall continue my life and pretend I never read this thread. It is, after all, a ProVari. If there was a problem it it wouldn't fire or would throw an error code.

It won't let you do something stupid
ETA: Please ignore the above post and read Ozwald's instead. I am used to living in oblivion, but realize it shouldn't be encouraged for others. It's common knowledge in the Ocelot world that we only listen to NPR and can't conceive of anything interesting members of the amateur radio world might have to say. Perhaps it's just something for them to do whilst snowed in.
Bob: This is Ice Station Zebra, are you there Snow Globe? over
Zack: Snow Gobe here; over
Bob: It's really snowing hard; over
Zack: Yep; over
Oh the thrills of the Back Country.
