But does anyone know which liquid is the closest to Marlboro Lights? My mother in law is suffering from macular degeneration. She is, rather quickly, going blind. From what her doctor has told her, and from my own research into it online, cigarette smoke is exacerbating the problem. It is highly irritating to eyes, and it's speeding the degeneration. She is a one to two pack a day smoker.

I set her up with a 650 mAh, variable volt, ego battery that acts as a passthrough and a bottom coil clearo that took Evod coils. She was very interested in mine when I got it, as she's been fighting with her husband over quitting cigarettes. Seemed like the perfect solution. Better for her eyes, less fighting with her husband, less money.... When she first got it, and a bottle of tobacco flavored juice (she wasn't interested in any other flavor), she did great! Cut back to 5 cigarettes per day. Remembered to charge her ego, and just knocked on our door when she had an issue. We live next door to be on hand for anything. My father in law is starting to show signs of dementia, and with my mother in law going blind, they sometimes need some help. She wasn't thrilled about the juice, but every time I offered to get her a sample pack she said she'd just keep vaping it anyway. I'd order a small bottle of plain tobacco juice with each of my liquid orders to see if she would like it, but she wasn't very happy with any of them. Eventually she stopped coming to my husband and I for help with maintaining her ecig, and we figured she got the hang of it.

Tonight, we went over for Sunday dinner and were informed by her husband that she's been back to smoking almost two packs a day again. I found her ecig on the kitchen counter, sitting in a pool of juice. The plastic part of the clearo separated from the metal part, and was leaking everywhere. She said she couldn't get it to work, and didn't want to bother us. Before we left, I set her up with one of my husbands Mini Protank II's to replace the broken clearo, and his old 650 mAh ego with one of my iClear 16's on top for a back up. Filled both with two different tobacco flavors, and I promised her husband that I'd be by nightly to make sure her ecigs are running. He thinks she didn't tell us because she doesn't like the flavors and it isn't satisfying her. He'd tell her to stop smoking, and she'd tell him her ecig was broken and continue to smoke. He's still mainly functional and clear. He has days where he doesn't know his grandchildrens names, but most days he's still okay, and he knows his wife should not be smoking.

So, while I know I won't find a liquid that tastes exactly like a Marlboro Light, this random ordering of tobacco juice for her isn't working out either. She's an adult, and I know no one can force her to do anything she doesn't want to do, but considering how well she did in the beginning I do think that if I find something she likes, there's still a chance this can work for her. I maintain my husbands and my own vape gear as it is, I've got no issues maintaining hers, plus my husband IS catching on to some of it and is able to help more then he was when we started. Especially with the Mini Protank II. They are all he uses, and he's familiar with them now. Help me out, and narrow down the liquids I should order for her.

Hi Tinkie,

When I first started vaping I was using a liquid called USA Mix (I'm in the UK). It's probably the closest to Marlborough Lights I've tried. I would say try some Dekang and Hansen because they are not big on flavour so are likely to be close to what you're looking for just for that reason alone.

555 is very light from both brands. Try to avoid RY4's they will have too much caramel and I doubt she'll like it. Any tobacco flavour that just says 'tobacco' or 'traditional tobacco' will be very bland and that will be closest to a real cig.

Sorry I can't be more help. It's amazing what you're doing for her, I wish you both the very best of luck.

I have not tried juice from this company and I do not do the tobacco flavors, however I have heard great things about this company and their tobacco flavors along with their other flavors.

Yeah, I don't typically go for tobacco flavors myself, save for something like RY4. I have no clue about tobacco flavors. I've considered NET's for her, but they'll gunk her coils fast I hear...

I have heard a few people here say that unflavoured tastes like Marlboro lights. Hope you can find something she likes.

This actually sounds like a good idea... No coil gunking... Cheap enough and worth a shot. Does having no flavoring affect throat hit?

HI wow you do have your hands full. I started with a turkish tobacco juice and a virginia tobacco from the local smoke shop. Here in Oklahoma the smoke shops prevail but the selection is minimal compared to larger Eastern Cities. The juice was from VaporZone and each wasn't just right ... I mixed some of the turkish with the virginia and found a suitable taste. The key to vaping is not matching what is currently being smoked, but in finding a flavor you luv. Once that hurdle is passed the rest becomes easier. For now I'd even suggest an 18 to 24% nicotine to ease the lady's cravings. Keep trying, endeavour to persevere. Huge heart you have there for all you do.
Blessings and Joy,

Tinkie...there is no such thing as a Marlboro-a-like in the vape world. I know, I smoked Marlboros for 40+ years. That said, the closest thing to cigs would be NETCOM's cig line (link attached). Big Spirit was his original offering and pretty good. I've vaped Johnson Creek and I mean no disrespect to the earlier poster, but there was nothing in JCs line I would say is anything close to cigs. Additionally, Johnson Creek is very expensive. As far as tobacco vapes, NETs (naturally extracted tobacco) does a fantastic job of mimicking cigar and pipe tobacco. But cigs...not so much. Good luck.

You're correct... B]Most[/B] NET's are notoriously rough on coils and wicks. There are however, NET's from Ahlusion and Heather's Heavenly Vapes that are pretty clean. The folks over on the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/274904-natural-tobaccos.html thread that can give you some recommendations... they are true experts in that field.

The nicotine strength has the most impact on throat-hit, but cinnamon and menthol also increases TH too.

She was doing okay on 18. I don't think it was the nic level as much as it was disliking the taste. You're right on finding a flavor you love, rather then replicating the taste of cigarettes. Thing is, she won't even entertain the idea of vaping anything other then a tobacco. Most that I have ordered taste more like cigar tobacco then cigarette tobacco I think, and what she started with tasted a little more like a cigarette, only it tasted like a cheap brand you only get if that's all that's available, or all you could afford. Yech. I'm no good when I taste them first, because I hate the taste of cigarettes now.

She's not looking for a flavour she loves she just wants something that feels and tastes natural to her. Nobody smoked cigs for flavour. The only way to make her feel like she's in her own comfort zone is to buy something flavourless and that means cheap tobacco flavours.

All 'premium' tobacco flavours will taste like cigars with a hint of something else (usually caramel or a spirit of some kind, whiskey, brandy etc).

Don't complicate the issue buy cheap tobacco flavours and one or two of them will have no discernible flavour and I believe that is exactly what will hit the spot for her. A lot of vapers when they first start don't give two hoots for flavours they all try tobacco types first. Pick the ones least likely to have ANY flavour and you're on the home stretch here.

Bronze,
I totally understand and I feel no disrespect at all. Like I said I don't do the tobacco flavors. I was just stating what I heard others say and others post. And I have also heard there is not such thing as a true cigarette tasting juice.

I'd be interested to see if UK lights taste like US lights - I know UK brands use tobacco from other countries, whereas domestic Marlboros use US grown tobacco.

See, I lived in London when I was a teenager, my dad got transferred there. (Loved it, too). I started smoking in the UK, and hated Marlboros, the better smoke was Winston. I later found Dunhill, but that's another story. When I came back to the US, of course I went and got a pack of Winstons - yuck! So I tried Marlboro, and they were fantastic!

It would be interesting to see if they still tasted different, it would help translating flavors for UK readers and US readers.

To echo the folks that have already responded, and as you know yourself, a Marlboro Light clone doesn't exist. But, I will offer 2 satisfying tobacco flavors that the m-i-l may like... "Twilight" from NLV and "Virginia" from BWB.

And another nay to Johnson Creek. Back in '09 their Original blend was okay but it was all we had to choose from other than DeKang. Since then their recipes have changed numerous times. To me, their base liquid tastes like vanilla extract which is SO NOT what you want the m-i-l to experience.

Actually the USA Mix is a Dekang brand. I only pointed out I'm in the UK as the name will be different depending where you buy it from. I think if you buy from FT they will just say Marlborough as opposed to Marlborough Red, I honestly don't know there are so many names for the same stuff depending where you buy it from.

But the Dekang take on it is very mild and smooth, no particular flavour to it and that's what I think the lady is looking for, something that 'feels' like a smoke. If I was in her position exciting flavours would mean not a single jot to me.
