I want the best advice for me.
I'm taking the temp control dive, and I do have to urge to unleash my inner geek.

When I buy a regulated mod, I want it to last. Not just to not break, but to not be out of date in a month when I have already spent my hardware budget.

I have my eye on the reuleaux, the question is, to dna200 or not to dna200...

I would love to really fine tune my vape and have the longevity of a dna200 board. On the other hand, I see a lot of people prefer the RX200. For the price difference, that's a ton of juice.

So I'm reaching out to you guys, not only which do you prefer, RX or dna, but what do you thinks suits my needs. I am very much more on the hobbyist/hardcore side of things.

At this point, I mostly vape a dual 26650 unregulated for the battery life and the freedom to build my little heart out. I truly feel if I had a regulated 150+ watt mod, I may change my tune. Although I do have a soft spot for my powdercoated EOB.

Also, feel free to bring up any other mod for 200$ or less that can kick the reuleaux's proverbial .....

I have the RX200. In fact, I have two of them. I love them all hollow, they're just fantastic mods. Load them up with LG HG2s and the battery life is phenomenal. However, one caveat: the 510 connector is kinda janky. Sometimes it will "lose" the atomizer and think it isn't on there any more. You have to unscrew the atty and run it back down for it to pick it up again. Doesn't happen with all tanks, but it can with some. I don't have the DNA version, but I suspect it uses the same connector. There is an easy fix for it-- it can be replaced with a good quality connector with a bit of work if you're handy with your hands, or know someone who is-- that takes about an hour and costs 6 or 7 bucks for parts. Here's a link to a good photo set on how to do the fix: Replacing the 510 in an RX200... Fairly easy actually. | E-Cigarette Forum

Bottom line, buy the RX. You won't be sorry.

So buy the RX, see if I give a flying fart about temp control, then take the DNA plunge if I desire?

I prefer Evolv myself because they are the pioneers of temp control and (imo) have the best vw. Be aware that the rx200 had issues with the balance charging. The DNA 200 is pretty much future proof.
hrm - i tend to think of the balance charging as a non issue, since i use an external charger exclusively

Yup. Or that's what I'd do. It's an excellent mod in wattage mode as well. I see another complaint about balance charging. It may be so, I never charge in the mod anyway, But for the price, you just can't beat it.

Yeah, I could care less about the onboard charging. I don't trust it, if I could charge my cell phone battery on my luc, I would.

I'm wary of buying something that's gonna be outdated soon because I live in hellaware, where they love to be first to F things up for everyone else. I want to have a solid vw in case vaping takes a hit. I can mix juice, I can wire unregulated mods. I don't have a 50,000$ CNC machine to make them look pretty or a 3d printer. I like the fact that it has 3 18650s, I like everything about the mod, I just don't know whether to take the DNA plunge. I almost feel as though its now or never, seeing as I rarely have "extra" money. So if I get the RX, love it, and decide I want a DNA, I'll be left hating it and it will be a 50$ paper weight, much like my subox.

Sorry for the ramble, IF I do get the DNA, I've considered fitting a thin polycarb over the screen gap. Pocket lint and rogue kanthal trimmings are the enemy here. And possibly trimming off those annoying positive collars. But any modding other than that wouldnt be worth the effort considering if im going to go that far, I might as well build it from the ground up and truly be proud.

Up to you. And hey, if you can build an unregulated mod, you don't have to worry about Vapocalypse. Indeed, a VW would be hard to do if you can't get a board-- not that I think the boards will be regulated, they're not that smart-- but a VV model would not be hard for somebody who can build an unregulated. FWIW, I intend to do the mod. That janky connector is annoying, and I have a very low threshold for annoyance. I've got some Fat Daddy Vapes connectors laying around, soon as I get my roundtuit all polished up. FWIW, I built a DNA200 mod when the boards were first available. Then I got talked into the RX and I thought, wth, if I don't like it, I'll just buy another board and switch it. So I got it, and loved it, then sold my DNA to a dude at the vape shop for far more than it was worth, and bought another RX. That's me, of course. YMMV.

yah - i did a bit of research comparing the two before i got the RX, and for my money, the positives of the DNAnasaur didn't make sense to me, value wise... not hating on the DNA, as they make solid devices, but the RX performs like a champ
That they do. Solid TC, as good as the Evolv, IMHO.

Thanks for the info, not a fan of fasttech though. I rather have my order in 2-3 days than 2-3 weeks. I'm already buying a Chinese chip, might as well buy from an American vendor lol. Vapenw has them for a good price and they have a good track record with me. They're also selling the DNA with 3 free 18650s, the brown LGS and if they're out of those you'll get the Samsung 25rs, both good for the purpose.
