I'll copy/paste this thing I posted somewhere else around here:

Annoying: I get very little airflow with my Protank 2 on my Provari. The 3 holes around the base are placed a little lower than on the base of my PT1 so I have to unscrew the tank quite a lot in order to get acceptable airflow. And if I screw it the way I did with my PT1, I actually get ZERO airflow...

I fixed this by swapping the bases, but I don't know what I will do with the second one I ordered if has the same issue. No more spare PT1...

I think that soba1 means, that you could try the tatroe bases, the vent hole on these bases are very high, I just recently started using a air flow controller, on my devises and they would actually block the air flow, on my pro-tank bases, but the tatroe base works great.

It really is beautiful. The taste is amazing and the changes they made are truly fantastic...my go to from now on...looks great on a Provari, that's sure.

Ditto :) and it looks great. BTW, I find the draw the same as the PT1. Made like fort knox and replaceable tanks and I'm all smitten. QUESTIONS: Member plop1 reports a problem with airflow in this thread. Is that just a bad tank or some kind of anomaly? Are you using the PT2 base or have you done anything special to make it work with your vari? I'm very sorry to ask so many questions but I'm preparing to pull the trigger on my first vari when the SS is released or the other new color so this is a critical issue for me and I need to be 100% sure (no offence intended). Anyone else can sure jump in with a stock PT2 bolted to their vari?

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I am using the PT2 stock base, it works, but the draw is just tight. I am still getting clouds, but the draw is not where I want it to be, it does work fine stock, and lines up perfectly with the Provari, as if it was meant to be. I plan on purchasing the Tatroe tank base, which is reported by other members to have larger air slots which will eliminate the tight draw issue.

@GetVaked - thanks so much for the info. Please humor me as it's hard for me to wrap my head around this. Due you have a URL/link for the Tatroe tank base? The only one I could find makes the draw TIGHTER/less airy but maybe I'm confused?

I understand and respect some folks want a "flush" look with the PT2 and their vari but for others why couldn't you use this: V2 510 Shorty Extension Sealed which is a shorty 510 and sealed extension.

@soba1 - Ditto :) So your not using the Tatroe tank base or any other hunk of metal on your vari? You just bolted the PT2 on and the draw is fine?

Yea I know draw is subjective and other threads on ECF have different experiences. I may have to go to my local B and M for a test.

Thanks in advance for any help.

When I mentioned the tatroe base before, I said I was using a air flow controller, which when using my original pro-tank, not the pro-tank 2.

Tank Airflow Controller

I said you could try the tatroe base that the vent hole is higher on these so the air flow is not cut off completely, as plop1 was having problems with. I never said that it gives you a more airy draw then the original base, it is a slightly less airy draw than the original base. Both hit fine for me but, mabe not for others? I do not have the new pro-tank 2 yet, so I do not know how the tatroe base will work on it, but I would think it hits the same. I will attach a link to the base, so someone can get a better look at it.

Tatroe tank bottom cap

I hope this helps.

Still waiting on my Provari but on the Vamo 3 and a Sigelei it can be way tight. So tight, in fact that I can suction my lip to it. That's if I screw it all the way down.
  • Screwed just enough to be fireable - airy
  • Screwed just enough to not wobble - tight
  • Screwed all the way - no air flow

I filed the air channels on the base of the Protank 2, seemed to help a little, I also rebuilt my coil and the airflow on the ProV all the way tightened down is *acceptable*, still not where I want it to be. I am going to micro drill the air holes above the threads next and I think that will make it great. I must be OCD because I really do not like having it unscrewed and wobbly, even though it hits better.

I really like this tank but on a Provari it is annoying, and unless they come out with a better design I might just find something better if what I try doesn't work...

Picture is with a camera phone, so mind the quality. Just wanted to show how much I filed down the air channels. You can see right through them, now I have an ok draw.

Thanks all for the responses and help. :) I can't wait for the SS vari. This issue with respect to the ProTank 2 only still leaves me scratching my head. In other threads some have reported the draw is fine with finger tip tight and others say the draw is to tight. Obviously this is subjective. For me the draw is great and exactly the same as the PT 1 with the following devices:

Sigelei Zmax V5
iTaste vv
eGo v2 Mega

Snug but not tight. No tank wobble. I'm no expert on tanks but it seems to me that another solution might be a 510 Shorty Extension which raises the PT 2 above the well however then you have the how does it look issue. Perhaps a 510/vari beauty ring of some sort?? I ordered a couple of sealed 510 shorty extensions from V2 510 Shorty Extension Sealed so I'm prepared. Of course, a trip to my local vari B and M will tell me for sure what the draw/hit is like.

I'm using the base that came with it......it works perfect.
This will be my at home or casual out and about tank.
Because I can leisurely fill it as I go.
When I put my black drip tip on it with the blk P-mini
it just set the whole thing off. I can't wait til they
start making the different colored glass for them
