Okay so I have been vaping (no cigs) since the beginning of January and I love it. I've turned some friends on to it, love trying new juice etc etc. I love everything about it.

Sadly, I feel like crap! Over time I have noticed joint pain (not muscle, joint), I "crack" when moving around (neck, knees etc- at first I was thinking it was cool. Everybody could use a good crack every now and then, right?), bleeding gums, and I think I might be grinding my teeth in my sleep because I also have jaw pain.

This sucks, I love vaping, so some advice would be cool. I vape 24mg and it's a 30/70 blend. I was thinking I probably need to lower the nicotine and maybe try Veg base only.

Have any of you had this kind of thing happen? I'm at the end of month 3 with no cigs and what started out as minor irritations has turned into me feeling awful. But I do NOT want to quit vaping.

I have also put on a little weight, but my eating habits haven't changed (but that's no biggy, it only hurts my pride and I can live with that *s*).

Thanks and any advice would be great.

I've never heard of your particular symptoms. Weird.

Well, first, see a doctor just in case it's a coincidental medical condition and not related to vaping. Assuming it's the vaping, it's not likely to be the nicotine. You might be having some kind of allergic reaction to the pg or vg -- try switching to a base of 100% one or the other and see how it goes.

... that's all I got.

Almost everything you're describing can be attributed to quitting smoking. I had so many random aches and pains - headaches, jaw pain, joint pain sore throat, sore muscles... you name it, I experienced it. You'd think I'd gone cold turkey from all the quit symptoms I had! Most of it was over within 2 months for me, but everyone is different. After three months, I think it's likely you're vaping a higher strength than you still need, but if that were the problem, your main symptoms would probably be headaches, nausea and anxiety.

From what I've read about PG, it breaks down in the body as lactic acid, which can cause joint/muscle pain. It may have contributed to some of my joint/muscle pain early on (no way to know since quitting smoking can also do that) and it may be contributing to your pains. If PG is causing you trouble, the best thing you can do is drink more water every day.

I had similar symptoms the first week I quit. I felt like total...well, you know. Everything hurt and all I did was lay in bed all week. I honestly don't know if it was quitting the analogs or vaping, but I can tell you what I did to feel 100% better. As simple as it sounds, I drank lots of water. The weird thing was that my body wasn't necessarily telling me I needed more water either. I just gave it a shot one day because a lot of my symptoms indicated I was dehydrated.

Make sure to get a dental guard. Bruxism.. I experience the same symptoms. The crazy part is that your body is going through this as the withdrawl from *tobacco, not nicotine. google tobacco withdrawl. I can not recommend the low profile type dental guard strongly enough. It's unrealted from smoking or vaping, but constant teeth grinding caused me to crack/break all 4 of the molars that touch when your mouth is closed. Sucks yeah. Thank God for dental insurance.

Yeah, get a dental guard for sure. I've been grinding my teeth for many years, probably since I was a kid. I've messed up quit a few molars until I got mine. I think it has a lot to do with anxiety manifesting itself as teeth grinding in the subconscious, some psychobabble, lol.

Trill,

My teeth stopped bleeding in the 4th month of no cigs. It's a healing process that will happen anytime you quit smoking- using an ecig or not.

And please try a higher VG blend. Many people gets aches and pains from PG that go away when they go to a 50/50 blend or higher.

I'm sorry this isn't an easy road for you yet!

I personally don't know if pg breaks into lactic acid but I do know that lactic acid DOES indeed cause joint/muscle pain. You feel similar pain when you're overworking your muscles (Your muscles require energy to work (atp or adisine triphosphate) and your body uses 3 types of energy: creatine-phosphate = which is used for immediate need of energy, i.e.: immediately start running and then there's aerobic cellular respiration: which uses atp, nutrients (mostly glucose), oxygen comes in, carbon dioxide going out i.e.: this is what you would use MOST of the time and finally anaerobic cell respiration: which is when your body is using more energy (atp) than oxygen is being taken in, so this in turn makes lactic acid and causes the pain from when you overwork your muscles) PHEW! that's a mouthful. So, in a nut shell - lactic acid CAN and WILL cause discomfort and pain to your joints and muscles.

Sheesh, a little overdone huh?

I heard before the bleeding gums is likely due to the extra oxygen flowing to our gums etc when wevquit. It makes sense to me. I too had bleeding gums for just over a month. But it's gone now. I found I was pulling too hard on some of the ecigs I had and that gave me sore teeth like my fillings were going to fall out. Allmost like a dry socket kind of feeling. Lots of water slow easy pulls and it's gotten better for me as for the aching muscles I don't know. Are you more active now with your new found health ? Just a maybe thot. Hope all gets better for you

Very glad I found this, finally. Doing searches here can be a challenge. I'm also dealing with bleeding gums, and was hoping it couldn't be 'blamed' on vaping. I'm working on my 3rd month now and other than a minor sore throat in the beginning I haven't had any problems. But I guess I can't say that anymore, LOL. Like you, I've noticed this for about a month now, usually when I brush my teeth, but tonite it was just spontaneous. So I got worried and wanted to see if others have the same problem. It is reassuring to read that it could just be of a side affect from quitting smoking, and will pass. Soon, I hope.

Totally agree yohann...felt horrible for a good while when I started vaping and quit cigs...started drinking TONS of water, never vape w/o a big giant glass nearby, and it worked. Now, 4+ months in, I still vape up a storm, but don't feel the pains, aches and general "want to crawl in bed" feelings anymore.

Quitting cigs is gonna bring on all sorts of symptoms, but drinking lots of water helps clear out toxins, and reducing the pg like many others mentioned will likely help a lot too.

On another note, while increasing the vg can eliminate pg sensitivities, I couldn't do much vg in the beginning b/c it was causing blood sugar spikes, but thanks to a fellow ECF'er (salmegold) who shared that Braggs Organic Cider Vinegar helps a lot, I started using it, and it's stabilized me so much that I can vape vg blissfully without the spikes. I think the vinegar also must have some sort of cleansing effect, b/c when I started using it along w/ vaping the higher vg juices, I felt this energy and well-being ever since that I haven't experienced in a long time. I share this, b/c maybe it's possible taking the cider vinegar may help the symptoms related to quitting cigs and vaping for folks w/o blood sugar issues as well? I need to do some research on that and will report back...but it can't hurt to try some right? 1-2 tsps before meals, or before vaping, straight if you can stomach it or mixed w/ a small glass of water.

Wish you the best and hope you feel much better soon Trillium and everyone else going through this stuff :)

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. Vaping will dehydrate you and cause cramping and joint pain.

Gum bleeding is common. Your gums are getting more blood to them than when you smoked. If it continues, see your dentist and also ask for a bite guard.

At night, vape a lower mg of nic. Your dreams are from over stimulation from the nic level you're vaping.

Glad to have read this post as I am an emotional muddled mess at the moment lol, the first couple of days of vaping I felt fine but last night and this morning just felt edgy, more emotional and like something is missing, also finding it hard to concentrate and get motivated to do anything, so I am now drinking lots of water so hopefully it will help.
I keep having the biggest urge to go and buy ciggies but I don't want to prolong these feelings so have decided to just hang in there and be good to myself for the next few days.
I did start a thread this morning about this as I wasn't sure if it was normal...but it seems like for some people it is, but just wanted to post on this thread as well just in case it helps someone else.....I guess in a few more days it will all be fine and back to normal....it just makes you really think what those chemicals in regular ciggys must have in them to make some of us be feeling so emotional and a bit messed up....
