Idk, guys, I kinda jumped in on this thread/ new to vaping (6 months no cigs) not familiar with reo but just checked it out. I may be outta my depth here but are these just custom squonk mods?

They are sturdy, reasonably priced, nearly indestructible mods. And they are generally considered the endall of bottom fed box mods. They come in aluminum and wood, several sizes in both, depending on how much juice/battery life you need. Most people who get one, wonder why they waited so long to get it.

With a rebuildable atty (and you have a choice of many to use) you can adjust your vape to your own personal "sweet spot".

You won't find a more loyal, or helpful customer base, nor will you ever find another manufacturer that even comes close to the kind of service that Rob (reosmods.com) provides.

Do yourself a favor and take some time to read here on the forum. It's hard to believe, but they really are as good, or better than people say. And if you have any questions about them, just post here and someone will be along FAST to do their utmost to explain.

You'll probably get more answers, but in a nutshell, it's more like the ORIGINAL squonker.
Not the very first, but the first to perfect it, and the first to gain real popularity.

Not hacking on ya (far from it - welcome to the subforum), but maybe let the OP's posts sink in. He came, he went, he learned, he came back.

A great number of us have sampled pretty much all that vaping has had to offer until now and we choose to make Reoville home for all the reasons AP listed above.

In answer to your direct question, tho - yup, they're just squonk mods. Bloody good squonk mods.

Think about hanging out some more - we're a friendly, talkative bunch, only too happy to chat about the virtues (and every single little exacting detail) of the reo.

Thanks everyone for the warm embrace. I was wanting to know is their a certain color that does not show wear as much. I would really like to move away from black, silver, and the other colors most mods come in. I was thinking maybe about the nice Kawasaki green and a white SL LP door but I feel like it might show wear better than other color choices.

Also I was reading other post in the forum about sub ohm on the Reo. I normally always drip at 0.3 -0.4 ohms. Will the Reo with the sub ohm contacts allow me to vape at that level?

I think tumbled raw will show the least wear and tear but others will chime in I'm sure. To boot, tumbled looks awesome in person and feels great in hand.

Hammertone is thought to be the most durable by Rob, the modmaster himself.

If you're looking for more pop, might I suggest an orange or kawa green with a black wrinkle door. Either the SL or regular body with an SL door is, IMHO, great looking.

No problem at all. I run my REOs between .3 and .4. I've gone as low as .25 with no issues.

Rob does a great job at BAKING the paint onto Reo Grands. Baked on paint at high temperatures (I'm guessing 1 hour in 380 degree heat) is much more durable than just painting along. However, to help protect the paint even more...I'm doing some experiments with ProtectaClear coating. So far... so good! I did mess up in a couple of spots, and had to use Xylene to remove it. I recoated, and all is good.

I speak from personal experience on this part....

When Xylene does NOT affect the paint on my Black Wrinkle, and Copper Vein (which is Powder Coated)... then you know Robert does AN EXCELLENT JOB of Baking the paint on the Reo Grands.

However, if you're talking about how it will look 5 years from now, I guess it depends on how well you take care of it. :)

Welcome back dirtybirdy! I had messed up too! I got a REO and keep it for about two weeks and resold it. Now I have two more! I also did not give it enough time to adjust and go with the learning curve! I'm happy for both of us! I plan to spend more time this time around and learn to squonk like a pro!

Yes I'm very excited to order one. It will be soon just debating on what color I want to go with.

@Papa Lazarou I really do like the kawa green with a black wrinkle door or maybe even a black SL door if that is even made with a black RM8 :).

@inswva thanks for the info. It is great to know that I won't have any trouble running my normal builds.

@ed101z I was just wanting the Reo to look good several months from now. I bought an IPV 2 mini about two months ago in silver and it is all scratched up and shows the scratches pretty well. They are not big scratches but it still bothers me. I guess I am kind of OCD about keeping my mods in pristine condition.

@Mrs C it feels good to be back. I am really looking forward to ordering it. I know once I order my first there will be many more to come.

@57chilicat Welcome back as well. It's funny how we both were quick to sell our first Reos but as we have gained knowledge about vaping we have decided the Reo is the perfect mod for us.

I got my pair out of the classifieds about 4 months into this journey, had to learn pretty much everything while I was waiting on them to get here. I spent an evening playing with making a coils unsuccessfully, but got it working the next morning. I think there were a few too many adult beverages involved in the initial attempt. Anyway, about a month in and I'm starting to figure out what works for me a what doesn't and getting to where I can build what I want on the first attempt which allows me try different builds out that I wouldn't do when I started because it meant something wasn't working for a while.

I've got a black wrinkle and a polished with matching doors and a set of patina'd doors with matching toppers. The polished works well for me, takes the most abuse in my pocket at work and a quick pass or two across the bench buffer makes it look brand new. I'm thinking of adding a 3rd, most likely an econo with one of the patina'd doors Rob is working on.

Know what'cha mean. I'm trying to keep my Copper Vein and Black Wrinkle looking brand new as long as I can. After a year of use, the Copper Vein still looks great. The BW is about a month old.

The experiments with ProtectaClear are promising. So far, I've used it on::
  • Brass RM2 (to seal it from patina and to stop tarnishing. Still looks like shiny, 14kt Gold after 2 weeks)
  • Silver RM2 (nickel plate to keep it from scratching)
  • Copper Vein LP Reo Grand
  • Black Wrinkle LP Reo Grands (to protect the paint on both).

Things are going really good two weeks into this ProectaClear coating. There's a trick to using PC though, and people should know about it BEFORE they use it. I'm wanting to make a video to show how to apply it to atomizers, and metal Reo Grands. But however, I'll only make a video if this experiment brings excellent results. I won't go through the hassle if it's not absolutely worthy of doing so. As of this writing though, it appears organizing a video is inevitable. :)

Don't tell Rob......but last night my reo went for a walk down the stairs.....imagine drip tips flying....battery flying and the bottle barely hanging for its life.....
You bet your ... i was concerned when i got down the stairs.....i put it all back together...said a few prayers......and.....shes vaping as usual....not a scratch on her.
Reos are definitely made for clumsy ppl like me
