We had a vape meet in Tulsa, OK today at the Vapor Kings store/vape lounge, and several OKC people showed up. One of my friends told me that the guy who owned "the first REO made" was there. Turns out it was Clyde, and it WAS the first REO. I was amazed at how "refined" they've become in the short time Rob's been making them. I showed him all of mine, we talked, it was awesome....I told him I felt like I'd just met a rock star! I told him from what I could tell he was somewhat of a legend in Reoville. I remember when I first got here someone mentioned something about Clyde and I said, "Who's Clyde?" and about 10 people laughed at the question. Anyway, now I know who Clyde is.

Jan, that is too cool! We miss Clyde in the Lounge. He's been too busy to hang out lately.

radioactive

Yes.....it was ultra cool. I was so proud showing off all of my REOs. There are a few REOnauts here in Okla....one that I see pretty regularly (He's not on the forums.) but it was just so exciting to talk REOs with such a veteran REOnaut. He showed me a Gold REO Grand that was way shiny. Made mine look almost like it had a matte finish. I told him I thought Rob had changed anodizers somewhere in there. Anyway, it was just an awesome day. I also saw one of the REOs from pretty early on that had the REO etched on the door. I think he said it had belonged (or maybe still does???) to Sterno. It was almost like visiting a REO museum. (LOL) Anyway, way cool day.

I also coined the phrase..... It was a blast at the vape meet! Good people all around, good food, got to grab a couple of quick things and hit one of my favorite book stores less than 100 feet away. Begged and pleaded with Sterno to go...got to tell him he missed a chance to vape like a rock star! Won a free vaporkings t-shirt, and finally got a chance to see Rob and Michelle after two years of talking and emailing them. Nice setup, exceptional hospitality, and I think everyone who stuck it out had a good chance of winning some sort of door prize.

And let's face it, "ReoUno" was the rock star, I was just part of its entourage. Even VKRob-who has seen just about every mod out there-wanted to take a gander at it and ask questions. Thanks to JC and the other eastern Okies for making us feel right at home! 'Twas also nice to see GoldVaper getting some lovin'.

Did anyone else going back to OKC find the stupid traffic flow and road construction adding at least another hour to the trip? God, I was stuck in a line outside of Wellston, contemplating on how I could obtain anthrax and mail it to the OTA!

Oh, and if Sterno asks about college girls wanting me to sign autographs, just play along and say it happened, m'kay?

The girls were all over Clyde the whole afternoon...fighting over who'd get to sit in his lap next. There was almost a catfight over it. I tried to tell him it was just because of his arsonal of REOs, but he wasn't buying it....

I finally said why didn't he just go down the street to the bookstore and let things settle down, but NOOOOO....he hung around for hours....! And that's the truth....maybe....

Seriously, it was nice meeting you today, Clyde. And Sterno, I wish you had come. I think you would have enjoyed the party.

Great of you to stop by Clyde. Always wondered who created the term Reonaut and it's an honor to see you in the sub-forum. Wondered if it was possible to see the first reo if you don't mind posting a pic.

I'll have to do that....
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...de2801-wooden-juice-box-initial-review-2.html

Picture it being all oak instead of a cherry body, and it will give you a rough idea. And the prototype wasn't all gussied and prettied up like the production models. I thought of it as an old farm truck....not the slickest mod I had at the time, but it would start up every time and get the job done.

The actual first mod was an 801 box, and he named it the clyde2(801). Come to think of it, I think I preferred it to the original Reo (501): Rob was still tinkering with getting the feed system fine tuned at the time.

The irony of ironies is that Sterno missed out on the congregation of die-hard Reo fanatics! At the earlier OKC meet the interest in the Reos was a bit lukewarm, and he sat there in his Reo T-shirt, dying to show off his collection.

As for the colony in NE Oklahoma, the guys were talking about the upcoming VV model, and the gals were looking forward to the new midsized mod in the works.

Woodworks, that is.

That's really nice from how you described it and by looking at that pic in the thread. That's crazy, honestly didn't even know that REO's started from a regular wood type box mod. Always thought that it started out as a bottom feeder.

What do you think of the new VV models coming out?

Actually, it was a bottom feeder. (Sorry about the very belated reply.) Wood box bottom feeder. As for the VV's, I'm waiting like the rest of world with baited breath.

Oh ok, completely misunderstood what you had said. Anyways, no need to apologize at all. It's always nice to have the first REOnaut visit here and there to give their input on what's going on in the sub-forum now at days.

Waiting to see what it looks like myself when Rob decides to show it off. As for now, I'm just wanting to get a woodvil myself along with a tumbled grand so I can sand it down/polish it and make myself a Brushed Grand.
