I new to it all and -- turns out -- already an incredibly heavy vaper.

The quick back story: About three weeks ago, my wife picked up an eCig for me... from smoking everywhere. As I'm sure ya'll know already, it's a poor product and was virtually useless; however, the concept of vaping was totally new and fascinating to me... I began my research. I've since been vaping a 510 for about 10 days now. While it's a huge improvement, it still isn't what I need.

I've discovered I'm an incredibly heavy vaper. I'm hitting it -- literally -- all day. I've got two batteries in constant rotation and by 11am the charging can't keep up... they're both dead. I'm also finding that I'm not feeling very satisfied with the draw or the throat hit. This is what I need:

1. Killer battery life. I'm getting a little over an hour per battery right now... I'd like to get up in the day range. Is that possible?

2. Better draw. With my 510, the first couple of hits with a fresh battery and a wet cart are nice... after that point, it just not very satisfying. I find myself struggling to draw and struggling to achieve any sort of sensation at all. Would an 801 or 901 atty be a better choice for a more effortless draw?

3. Heavy, Heavy Vapor. I'm looking for the thickest possible vapor. I need to feel it filling my chest... Almost to the point of it being painful. Looking for a hardest possible throat hit. Is that solely a function of the gear or does the juice play a part, as well?

I've been smoking pack and a half of Camel Straights (non-filters) for 25 years. I was a hardcore smoker and will be a hardcore vaper. I need a beast. I've found a few models out there but thought I might get ya'lls feedback before buying yet another rig. I was, of course, hoping to keep cost as low as I can. Looked like my best options were in the DIY/Modders area, but I am completely mechanically challenged and just not capable of building my own.

So... any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Yes! You need a mod. Prodigy, Chuck, Silver Bullet, Janty Stick, Vapr1, Vapr 2, Protege, Vaper 51, there are a lot of them and they all use regular lithium rechargable batteries that you can buy a lot cheaper. You will get more hours and be able to keep up with it!
Just look around and pick one!! You will love it!! :)

Sounds like you need to get a Chuck. Check this out at jeff@naper.com. I am also a heavy vapor and presently using a 510 with 36 mg liquid. Are you dripping or using a cart. I drip and fiind this more satisfactory. I am waiting on a reply from Jeff and I am going to order the little Chuck.

thats just the email, here is the site. www.thagbuilt.com
careful, the amount of colors and custom graphic options can be mind blowing! :D

How dies the chuck work?
You buy the chuck, get a battery and use them with your 510 atomizer like the joye 510?

that is it exactly. it works better because the bigger battery keeps the 4.2 voltage longer, and it lasts up to 4 days. And the colors and graphics are just awesome.

Sounds like you need a Chuck. I have a Chuck with a 510 connector and it took my 510 experience to a whole new level. It also sounds like you're doing what I did when I first started out and are dragging on the e-cig like an analog. I had to redefine how I inhaled.

While smoking analogs I took rough, quick, heavy drags. I pulled the smoke into my mouth until it was full and then inhaled as I took the cig away. Now with the e-cig I had to taper off a bit on the power of the drag and instead to a long slow pull but at the same time inhale into my lungs.

I'm not sure how you are vaping it, this is just my experience, but if you are hitting on it hard, take it down a notch but increase your drag length if you can. The inconsistency you get from a newly topped off cart is usually a symptom of dragging on the cart too hard and pulling too much juice from the cart onto the atty... which instead of making the drag better like you would think actually makes it lighter and can flood your atomizer after awhile.

Prior to e-cigs I had never "lung inhaled" smoke, I always took it in two stages smoke to mouth then to lungs. With this method you can draw on an analog quite hard and keep it burning hot... which is good for tobacco smokes but not good for an e-cig.

... but most importantly get a Chuck because it performs like a champ on steroids!

Aside from all the 'Chuck' recommendations, you may be interested in a 100% mechanical device - the Super-T. Mechanical means no solder, no wires, no electrical switches. The biggest adavantage of a mechanical device is the predicted long-term reliability. The Super-T is covered by a three-year warranty.

It can operate with a long life 3.7 volt battery or at 6 volts with the optional extension sleeve. Batteries are inexpensive and user-replacable. Adapters are available for the 801, 901 and 510 atomizers.

Super T Manufacturing

If you were to purchase a Super-T, Chuck, Prodigy, Silver Bullet or other similar devices, you would be very pleased with the performance.

I'll second (or third) the recommendation on a Silver Bullet from altsmoke.com.

With the standard 2400 mah battery it will easily run all day. You can substitute two RCR123A batteries and have 6 volts without buying anything else.

If you just want to check out 6 volt vaping, buy two 123 camera batteries and give it a whirl.

Besides, the way it's built you can use it for a wheel chock, beat the heck out of a mugger with it and still enjoy a good vape as you peacefully stroll away.

Thanks for that great advice on the draw through a 510 vs an analog, Porphy... uncanny how you nailed -- exactly -- what I was doing. I'm certain that by both tweaking my technique (as you suggested) and upgrading to a high-voltage device, I'll see immediate improvement.

The only reason I "nailed" it was because that was exactly what I was doing at first. Once I figured out how the e-cig worked and how it was fundamentally different from the analogs was the day my vaping experience went from being "high maintenance" to "better than analogs ever were". Now if we can get you away from those stock 510 batteries we can have all of your problems fixed. :):)

The draw on a 510 can be improved greatly by getting a 'pin vise' and drilling two more holes in the neck of the atty where the threads are at- just drill two more just like the original two at 90 degrees to them- so it has four holes total. this helps the draw immensely- and also helps cool the atty if you vape heavily, or use high voltage with it.
Also, with your history, you may do better with some higher mg juice.

In your bushes, watching you undress
Lotsa good options out there, and listed above.

I'd say for you... your best choice is the Silver Bullet V1.1 from AltSmoke.com (they are currently shipping with no wait).

Not only does it have the best switch available, and looks amazing... it can go from 3.7v operation to 6v operation with ONLY a battery change. No installing longer tubes, no changing of switches and resistors... nothing at all but a battery change.

And you can use the 510 attys you already have.
