the Zmax is vari volt AND vari watt. Which means it will allow you to set it, and forget it. You dial in one cartomizer to your liking, and because it is vari-watt, it doesn't matter what type of cartomizer you put on it after that, it doesn't matter what ohm cartomizer you use after that 1 time where you dialed it in, it will remember the power you liked on that first cartomizer, and it will adjust itself to the new cartomizer, no matter what ohm it is. (So, if you get the Zmax, and you have a 3ohm carto, you dial in the voltage for the 3ohm cartomizer, and then your 3ohm cartomizer breaks... But you only have a 2ohm carto left... Well, you can put that 2 ohm carto right onto the Zmax, and without taking drags and dialing the voltage to your preference, it already knows your preference from the previous cartomizer, and it will lower the voltage to meet that sweet spot that it knows you like.

THAT is why variable WATTAGE devices, like the Zmax, are the new MUST HAVES of the mod world. Forget spending $400 to $600 on a US made Darwin. NO MORE do you NEED to shell out hundreds of dollars for vari-volt or var-watt. The LavaTube SHATTERED that for vari-volt, and the Zmax is shattering the vari-watt world! There is nothing variable, that is more convenient than variable wattage, and you can now get the Zmax, a veri-watt device, for under $130. I find that to be spectacular. NO, it is not made in the United States. NO, your not warrantied, and you can't send your Zmax anywhere to be fixed, like you can w/the Provari...

But its $120-$130 dollars, for an EXTREMELY convenient device. Your choice of trade offs. Get the Provari, that is made in the good ol' US of A... Made with EXTREME standards of quality control... Convenience when it breaks.. But a HUGE price tag. In fact, the price of a Provari, (or, a Silver Bullet if you want to go the fixed volt rout) literally antagonizes me. It almost feels like the manufacturers are pissing into the wind knowing full well their customers are standing down wind. (in my humble opinion...) I mean, YES its made in the USA, but have they ever really, truly, lowered their prices for us? Have they ever even attempted to give the less financially fortunate a break? NO. Even when they came out with a new version of the Provari, was there a price change of the original one? Not that I know of. Not a signifigant one. Look at the competition now... Provari has competition and they still aren't releasing competative prices. They have a whole huge army of fan boys and fan girls on all of the forums, with their noses stuck up at anyone trying to feel good about their Lavatube or vmax or zmax or vveGo or ANYthing. "Oh well, the LT wasn't made in the USA so, your buying from foreigners and you don't have peace of mind that if it breaks it'll get fixed" Yeah well, at least the makers of the Lavatube aren't pricing their warez completely outside of a moderate's financial grid? At least the Lavatube doesn't demand the cost of a month's car payment. I can buy a new one if mine breaks.. and still not even be CLOSE to the cost of a Provari. I can buy 3 new ones now, because they are being sold for under $30.00 now. WHY? Because of COMPETITION. Because of the laws of supply, and demand! Provari is 1 of the most demanded and popular of the vari-volt devices... But the market has currently been FLOODED with vari-volt devices... So, why isn't the price going down? Because Provari is the vaping equivalent of the Apple i-phone. NO, the i-phone is not going to have all of the great features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab that is made in the orient, where technologies are on the fringe, its made in the USA. Where the labor isn't cheap. Is the Provari cheap? NO. Would I buy one if I was making 4 figures a month? Yes. Would I buy 1 if I was making 3 figures a month? Probably. But I make 2 figures a month, and I break 3 if I'm lucky. If your on a budget, don't get the Provari. You don't NEED a new shiny I-phone every time they come out with a new flashy (tiny) modification. Hell, the provari isn't even vari-watt yet, and its still priced MUCH higher than the newer mods coming out that ARE vari-watt. Right? Is it made well? YES. Will it probably make you feel good that its made in the USA? YES. Might you feel superior to the people with less expensive mods? MAYBE.

But.... Think about this. Its the #1 statement I read when people are arguing for Provari. IF your Lavatube or your vmax or your zmax breaks... NO ONE, is going to fix it for you. IF YOUR PROVARI BREAKS, WILL PROVARI FIX IT FOR YOU? The Answer:

Provari will fix your Provari for a fee. or, you can BUY a $25.00 warranty... for the price of a Lavatube... They will FIX your Provari... For the PRICE, of a NEW Lavatube... hahahha. I rest my case.

Nice rant Plumes you have sold me on getting a nice cheaper version. Now which one to buy........I am presently just using the ViVi nova tanks on Ego 650 batteries and have to have 3 or 4 charged per day to get through thats why I want a mod with higfher capacity battery. I was almost set to buy the Provari but you have convinced me there are other alternatives. Thanks

That's what I like about it, that it adjusts so you aren't fiddling about with volts to suit ohms all the time. The volts and wattage readings are off on the Zmax - a bit higher than what you program - but it doesn't matter if you don't care about that and just want to find the watt setting you like. The watt setting itself stays consistent - so if you like your Zmax vape at, say, 7.0 watts, it remembers that and adjusts the voltage to suit the ohms of the atty, tank, or cartomizer.

This is why I love a cheap mod. I've used from time to time a friend's with a double coil carto, and the max output is 3.7. That is one of the reasons I ruled LT out. I could get it here, and it wasn't expensive, but I sometimes use a carto tank so that rules the lavatube out completely.

If I were handy I would make a cheap tin mod myself. I want this to go sailing, so I can pop in a 5000 mAh before leaving port and vape on it two or three days for the journey. That's all I'm going to use it for. At home I'm happy with two 650mAh Twist and a PCC case.

It all comes down to being honest with yourself. Being honest with your values. Being honest with your finances. 1.) Do you always go the US made rout because your belief system entails buying from your own country? Or do you not mind if you buy products commissioned from US corporations but made by outsourced foreign laborers? 2.) If your living check to check after expenses, the Provari isn't for you. If you go to the mall to buy a necklace for your wife, out of the blue, its not x-mas, its not her birthday, you just want to give her a present because you got a little bonus at work maybe... Do you buy the 10 karat slim chain, the 10 karat thick chain, the 14 karat slim chain, the 14 karat thick chain, the 24 karat slim chain, or the 24 karat thick chain?

10 Karat Slim Chain- 510 batteries
10 Karat thick Chain- Fixed volt big battery mod
14 Karat Slim Chain- LavaTube Variable Voltage
14 Karat thick Chain- Vmax Varable Voltage
24 Karat Slim Chain (with free [0.05 carat diamond clad] 24 karat gold heart pendant)- Zmax VariVolt/VariWatt
24 Karat thick Chain (as advertized in popular TV commercial)- Provari

What make of car do you own? Do you:
1.) own a car from a company BASED in the USA, MADE in the USA, due 2 ur economical beliefs- Provari
2.) own a car from a company BASED in the USA, MADE outside the USA- Zmax/Vmax/Lavatube/etc
3.) own a car from a company BASED outside of the USA, MADE in the USA- Zmax/Vmax/Lavatube/etc
4.) own a car from a company BASED outside of the USA, MADE outside the USA- Zmax/Vmax/Lavatube/etc

I'm handicapped living off a rent. The Provari never crossed my mind, lots of expenses BEFORE that... I first try to buy things made in my country, maybe that Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro in your wife's hand was assembled south of Argentina... Or maybe that Galaxy S3?

The Joye Ego 18650 was upgraded some time ago to a switchable voltage - either regulated 3.3 or unregulated. It's got a satin finish on the newer switch assembly, glossy on the old one. My wife's been banging a silver one around in her purse for four months and it's still working and looking fine. It's among the lightest 18650 mods available. Just noalox the threads when you get it or lube them with a touch of vaseline or oil and it's good to go. Switches on and off and it can be recharged on an Ego USB charger (slowly) in a pinch too.

At about $20, it's a sweet deal.

I agree. It's truly sweet on many levels! In fact, it's my favorite PV now. As for the recharge on an eGo USB charger being slow...not really. It's not bad on the Joyetech fast charger. Mostly I charge mine on one of those wall chargers that came with the L-Rider. I have several batteries..but they last a really long time at 2200 mAh. No worries. The eGo T Mod is solid, vapes GREAT, looks good and everything is replaceable if something goes bad, or you just get tired of the battery tube color. I LOVE mine! Got hubby one too...and now he's totally in love with his, too. We both have L Riders, Twists, and assorted other PVs. But the eGo T Mod is our favorite! And the switchable feature between regulated and unregulated is plenty enough voltage range for what we need.

The eGo mod is regulated to 3.2v... Maybe in unregulated mode it will be nicer... But being regulated I'm not very fond of 3.2v only

The eGo T Mod Upgrade unregulated mode works quite nicely and lasts just as long as regulated mode. I've used mine with a vivi nova @ 2.4, CE5 @ 2.0 and a DID clone @ 2.5 in unregulated mode and it has plumes of vapor. It's a little too hot for my CE6 @ 1.8 in unregulated mode, but it's fine regulated. It lasts at least twice as long as any of my LT's and works just as well.

BTW - I ordered the Indulgence V3 after I posted the link. I also ordered a couple of 4.8V NiMH batts & a corresponding charger from MV as well. They should pair up nicely. Eventually I'll kick it too. I'll keep you updated when I get it it.

Hi everyone! I'm looking at the Smoktech VV Gripper, Joyetech eGo 18650 mod, and the Smoktech Bolt. But there might be some others out there that I don't know. I don't like the Joyetech because it regulates to 3.2v, and I was hoping for 3.7v.

Bare necessities:
1. Cheap. Preferrably under 60 dollars or less
2. 18650 batteries: No other. 18650 are cheap here, used to rebuild notebook battery packs and a 5000 mAh protected one can cost as little as 12 dollars.
3. VV preferred. I don't like the LT because it limits voltage at certain loads. Provari is WAY over my budget and too masive.

Are you doing this 2 quit smoking cigs? if so spend the money, idk about you but i spent 300$ plus a month..............buy quality!!!!

Update on the 18650 mod iI purchased from Mountain Vapor:

Mountain Vaporizer 18650 Battery Tube

It looks like an unbranded Indulgence V3.
I receive it yesterday, but unfortunately the threads where the carto/clearo/tank screw on are oversized. I cannot screw anything on to it. The carto/clearo/tank just "slips" right inside of the threads.
I contacted Mountain Vapor and they are going to send a replacement.

Hopefully the next one will be correct.
I guess you get what you pay for:(

I have no problem with the vendor as they are going to replace it, but the manufacturer (chinese) made a dud with this particular unit.

I hope the vendor does right for you.
