So this morning my mother came up to me and told me she placed an order from V4L...great right? No. She quit smoking 2 years ago after being hospitalized with double amonia. She was forced to quit smoking. She successfully quit and she told me this morning she purchased 0mg carts. She has a wide array of health issues, including lupus (the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue and cells), avms (a seizure disorder), arthritis, and many other things. I am worried for many reasons. First, addictive personalities run in my family, I know after she uses it for awhile, she will increase the nicotine. Because this product is fairly new, we are not yet aware of the effects it has on our bodies. There is no doubt about it, it is safer than smoking analogs, but she already quit! This is an issue I think, that people who successfully quit will start smoking because they think it is without risk. Also, if the FDA does ban them, she will be forced to start smoking again. This may all sound petty and ridiculous, but I'm worried for her. She helped me get clean when I was spiriling out of control with drugs, I need her to be safe and healthy.

I just need advice. How Should I handle this? Am I overreacting? Should I tell her not to start? Any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated

I quit smoking over 6 years ago but love vaping 0 mg. I have no plans on increasing the nicotine level, but it's helping me stay off analogs. vaping is everything I ever loved about smoking without the smell and yucky stuff. Maybe your mom is doing the same thing. Maybe she missed the hand-to-mouth of smoking and she gets all she needs from vaping the 0 mg. Maybe she never wanted to quit analogs, like me, so vaping is a healthier substitute.

If you're that concerned, I would talk with her and tell her how you feel.

I may be a bit radical in my ideas but I honestly feel that nicotine it's self is no worse for a person than caffeine. I have no wish to cut out nicotine.

I wish I had known about vaping when I went back to cigarettes a year and a half or so ago after having quit for two years. I'd have picked up one up and cheered that I got to enjoy my favorite stimulant without the smell, cost and extreme health risks of smoking.

I enjoy the act of smoking, I enjoy the nicotine. Not everyone who vapes is looking to rid themselves of nicotine.

Talk to her and express your concerns but don't try to parent her, listen to why she wanted to do this. Her reasons are her own and unless two talk about it you can't know how she is feeling.

Kimmy, my son (who has none of the health issues you mentioned) quit cold turkey 2 years ago. When I was at his house for Thanksgiving, he told me about the problem he was having.

He had just started a new job doing telephone technical support. Those jobs tend to have a lot of smokers. Lots of his new friends would go out for a smoke (he didn't) and when they came back in, the smell was driving him crazy. He didn't want to smoke, but was feeling that old "urge" to light up.

That night, with my help, he ordered a PCC kit and some 0mg cartos & juice. It has completely killed his urge to smoke. Given the alternative, I believe this is about 1,000% safer.

In my experience if you're concerned, you should talk to her. sure, maybe you'll get the "I'm a grown-up" speech, or maybe she'll thank you for your concern and find out that she hasn't put a lot of thought in to it and you're the best daughter in the world (and then do it anyway). To Born's point, she is an adult and can make her own decisions, but you are to, and if you are concerned should speak up.
