Are you guys ready for this ... if I can type through the tears. candre23 just gave me a laptop!!! It's a 3 year old Compaq Presario V6107US that he is sending me at no obligation! I'm lost for words at this level of kindness and generosity, you guys.

That is so awesome!!

I've never been one to believe that the universe "keeps score", but I know for a fact that people do. I have always tried to be as generous as possible with my friends and family, knowing that if I ever needed anything, they'd have my back. With my recent stint of extended unemployment, I have been proven right many times over. I have received more support than I could have expected, and I didn't even have to ask. If you give, eventually you will receive.

I've been watching this group and the thread that came before it, and I know GoodDog has been very generous and helped out a lot of people with her contributions. One good turn deserves another, and since I happen to be in a position to help out, I am more than happy to do so. The way I see it, this is just an opportunity for me to pay forward all the help I've received recently. It's a decent laptop and I hope you get several good years out of it.

I would love to shake your hand. It is very rare thing to be witness to this level of generosity, and it just made my week to be one :)

gooddog.. go look in local pawn shops for laptops.. you can find newer models for half the price or less than stores.. most shops that take in laptops have someone there that are able to check them out before the shop buys them. so it is going to work..

well did not finish reading all the posts.. that was a nice toss there..

LOL, Didn't that surprise you?! LOL Everyone giving me a helping hand with caring advise and wham! This group brings out the best in everyone so be careful. hehe

This is the site the anti-e-cig people should be reading. It shows the positive emotions from giving up analogs and wanting our fellow man to also succeed.

Yea!!!! My computer came today and it's wonderful!! The keyboard is so much better on my hands. This is a REALLY nice computer! hehe Learning Windows 7 is going to take awhile. I hate that I don't learn as fast as I use to. My mind goes blank and that's so frustrating.

Candre set up the computer as GoogDog instead of GoodDog. LOL Is there a way of changing that? Also does anyone know how to change my mouse to smooth scroll in Windows 7?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Candre!!! :D I'm sooooo happy!

Whoops! If it's the computer name, you click on the start button, then on Control Panel, then System and Security, then System. About 3/4 down the page there's a section with the computer name and a "Change settings" option on the right.

As for "smooth scrolling", do you mean this?

Glad you're enjoying it.

Yep LOL I forgot it was part of the browser and not the operating system, duh! Geez, I can type faster the way the keyboard is set up and don't have to worry about not having "g"s when I proof my posts. hehe I love the huge screen and the fact I can hook it up to my TV when I get the right cable. That way I can watch Hulu on my TV. :)

Does anyone know of a free online storage so I can upload my bookmarks and files. I notice that if I put Windows 7 on my other computer I could access those files and get just the ones I want, huh? But what if my old computer has a virus, will that get on this new one?

I don't know about free storage, BUT if you use firefox then you can get the extension Xmarks to save your bookmarks and saved passwords to a server and then put Xmarks on any other firefox you have and you can keep the bookmarks in sync so both comps always have the same bookmarks.

Doh! I wish you had said something because I have a couple extra S-video cables lying around. I could have thrown one in with the laptop. You can get them pretty cheap, though. If your TV doesn't have an s-video input, you'll have to get one of these converter cables instead. You'll also need a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable to get sound to the TV.
